The tokens are medium sized, they're the same space around as Sentry or Johan who's beside them. I got confused as well cause of the little floor tiles showing two squares beneath every square lol
I absolutely hate greater invisibility in battle. Just had a session where the party consisted of a monk, a barbarian and a fighter. We were in a cavern with bridge to a landing then another bridge that reached the other side that lead to a lock metal door. And we had troll in the middle to fight which wasn’t the issue, 5 swinging axes above each bridge that were an annoyance and a flying mage that used greater invisibility. Needless to say it ended being a TPK!! Funny how 3 lv 7 melee fighters wouldn’t have a solution to a flying invisible mage.
I agree with the previous response, that sounds like bs to me. Also it's the DM's job to know what there players can and can't do, and to not give them impossible challenges that have no ability to solve. Sounds like your DM is a... well, not a good DM.
@@asherandai1000 in fairness, sometimes players forget that retreat is an option. Not every encounter is supposed to be one you fight. The double concentration spells are problematic though, unless they were using an item.
@@YamiYaiba Obviously I don't know the exact circumstances of the encounter. But It's hard to imagine how 3 non-spellcaster melee fighters could possibly escape an invisible flying wizard. Retreat is not always an option, both for RP reasons, environmental reasons, and character ability reasons. For example there is absolutely no way a bunch of characters on foot can escape a dragon from the middle of field. Even something as simple as a group of PCs on foot running from a group of enemies like gnolls is not actually an option. Only classes that can use their bonus action, or have extra movement can actually outrun their enemies, and enemies like gnolls are not likely to give up on prey. I've seen the "retreat is an option" defence so many times, and rarely when its used is it actually a realistic viable option. Usually when it is an option the party has actually retreated.

Nah, I think you have to say what he said at face value. And ultimately, it probably would have been better to have stopped the heal and let Johan dimension door out, the exploding automations would have seriously damaged sentry without that heal, and Johan would have been finished with a follow up attack
I have to be this guy- did the young girl wizard have ruby dust worth 1500gp on them for the forcecage, (Edit: Mark confirmed she did indeed have the component cost for forcecage in episode 91, so good-guy DM) and would the party have been able to retrieve said dust from the mage if they had been...subdued before the forcecage was cast? @Dirge Blackstar you are a very sad individual to get bent out of shape over the literal words of the spell. You claimed it was concentration and it’s not. I’m not sure what you’re internet rage is all about
@Dirge Blackstar it’s not an impossible spell to get around. It just can’t be dispelled with that spell. There are other ways to break out of or into the cage.

don't think quill should've been able to heal the people inside the cage. lucius wall of ice would be blocked too. it blocks all spells cast into or out from it if I'm not understanding it wrong.
Forcecage comes in two forms. The first one is a typical cage type with bars, and it doesn't prevent anything from passing through it, though it does still require the saving throw to teleport out of (and obviously the bars are too close together for most creatures to squeeze through). The second type is a box with completely solid walls. This type does prevent anything from passing through, including spells. But it's smaller, half the size to be exact, meaning you can fit less inside. Mark clearly stated this had bars so it must be the cage type, meaning spells can be cast through it.
@@asherandai1000 A prison in the shape of a cage can be up to 20 feet on a side and is made from 1/2-inch diameter bars spaced 1/2 inch apart. @@onemadshrimp4812 Those are two separate descriptions. They are even separated by paragraph to indicate they are not the same thing. The spell blocking only applies to box, hence the reason it is only in that description. If you read the spell further it indicates effects that universal to both types by including them in their own paragraph. Spells are written this way intentionally to make their effects clear. Things like wall of force and the box forcecage stop spells because they are *solid*, however the bars of the larger forcecage have gaps between them which do not prevent anything from passing. Put it this way, if the gaps in the bars stopped things from passing through, then what would be the point in having two different types? There would never be a reason to use the box type as it would provide no benefit. You sacrifice an effect, the blocking of spells and the like, in order to have a larger cage. If you need further proof then just look up a previous iteration of forcecage where they do the opposite, saying spells can be cast out of a barred forcecage but not saying spells can't be cast out of box forcecage. I can't remember all the versions, but I know 3.5 described it this way.

@@Seninthekitchen Listen, we all like seeing Mark dolled up as a pretty blue Tiefling as much as he does, but he can't get his wife to do his make-up all of the time
Mark's a pretty good DM, and respect to him for building this world, but there was a lot of GM bullshit this episode. Girl: *grappled, mouth covered* (on Kim's turn) aila takes her hand off the kid's mouth, and she attempts to cast a spell, which is a bonus action, not a free action like talking is.
How is Johan so bad at con saves as a sorcerer Invisible things still make sound and still need to stealth I want to know Where that girl got 1500 gold of Ruby dust Wouldn't the eye beams be disadvantage bc ranged attack in melee? You can't counter spell an item spell
He is not bad at con saves, +7, he just got really unlucky, also they forgot a lot about Sentry's aura. The eye beams I am sure were specifically designed that way, it sort of makes sense they wouldn't necessarily have disadvantage. I am sure that Mark rolled stealth for the creature, they might not have got high enough on checks however. I am not sure on this but I believe you can counterspell a spell that is cast from an item.
Just wanted to mention that you unless the creature was in the force cage you can’t counterspell into it. Prevents matter from passing through it and blocking any spells cast into or out from the area.

Wait...that's a good point, it's been 90 episodes and none of them has any idea what's going on :v
Why do these people have a huge problem with spending twenty minutes trying to convince the evil people to stop being evil? It has never worked, and never will
great episode only thing that bothered me was wall of force and greater invisibility are both concentration spells so my brain was just like but that dosent work lol.
Forcecage doesn't require Concentration. :)
@@SherlockHulmesDM I completely forgot that was a spell :) I was thinking force cage was ur description for wall of force ^-^. I love your story telling. Can't wait for nights of eveningstar to comeback aswell.
It was a cruel combo, the only thing that doesn’t work is that you can’t cast spells into the cage, so they couldn’t have counterspelled the scatter spell.
You can absolutely cast spells into and out of forcecage, if it is the bar type and not the solid type. And this was definitly the bar type.
@@SigmaSky173 I stand corrected :)
Dispell magic gives an ability check on spells of a higher level than it =( Encounter changing.
Forcecage isn't effected by dispel magic
Sentry did not use her reaction when the metal robot came forward she had a held action... btw
Why aren't they immediately removing the bracelets
And this is why greater invisibility is banned at my table it is the stupidest thing to fight and all does is waste everyone's time.
DAMMIT, TOM!
Was hoping they would dress up
We did, on Curse of Strahd! ruclips.net/video/n7NG7lhXuvg/видео.html
Oh I know I just want more of the costume fun
@@Seninthekitchen Listen, we all like seeing Mark dolled up as a pretty blue Tiefling as much as he does, but he can't get his wife to do his make-up all of the time
Mark's a pretty good DM, and respect to him for building this world, but there was a lot of GM bullshit this episode. Girl: *grappled, mouth covered* (on Kim's turn) aila takes her hand off the kid's mouth, and she attempts to cast a spell, which is a bonus action, not a free action like talking is.
How is Johan so bad at con saves as a sorcerer
Invisible things still make sound and still need to stealth
I want to know
Where that girl got 1500 gold of Ruby dust
Wouldn't the eye beams be disadvantage bc ranged attack in melee?
You can't counter spell an item spell
He is not bad at con saves, +7, he just got really unlucky, also they forgot a lot about Sentry's aura. The eye beams I am sure were specifically designed that way, it sort of makes sense they wouldn't necessarily have disadvantage.
I am sure that Mark rolled stealth for the creature, they might not have got high enough on checks however.
I am not sure on this but I believe you can counterspell a spell that is cast from an item.
If you're going to make so many accusations about the rules you need to provide text citations from the rules books
@@mme.veronica735 Who are you talking to?
@@lincolnsummers1235 if there isn't an @______ the person is generally talking about the original comment
@@mme.veronica735 Thank you, understood obviously I wanted to check
Just wanted to mention that you unless the creature was in the force cage you can’t counterspell into it. Prevents matter from passing through it and blocking any spells cast into or out from the area.
Only if the forcecage is the smaller solid walled type. The bar type forcecage doesn't block spells.
WHY DID HE WAIT 90 EPISODES TO SAY HIS NAME WAS SAID WRONG
How on Earth did they leave her ungagged and unbound!?!
