I’d like to suggest something. We never see Monty himself actively aiming for the spotlight. We never hear him speaking his desire to overthrow Freddy, we never hear is opinions on joining the main band, we never get to see the aftermath of him taking the leading role after Freddy leaves. Every ounce of him being pushed into the spotlight was by Fazbear Entertainment. The level in the golf course wasn’t Monty, it was them advertising him that way. There was no guarantee that he would take Bonnie or Freddy’s place in the event of their departures, that was decided for him. And he might not like it. He might just be the laid-back loner chilling in the golf course, and the moment he’s forced to be in the big crowds and loud stages and all those stressful overstimulating situations, he starts acting up. It’d certainly fit the theme of the Glamrocks keeping up a front to mask their suffering, a fitness guru with control issues, a beauty enthusiast with self-esteem issues, and a rock star rising to fame with a fear of the crowd
This is absolutely the interpretation that makes the most sense. Bonnie was out of commission, and people liked the gator more than the clawed bunny, so they moved him in rather than fix or remake Bonnie. We don't see his personality through that red haze, but what we see matches the advertising in his stylized cutouts and images. The part with him replacing Bonnie and then Freddy? That's an outlier, if anything. Monty spends a lot of his time alone, high above everyone in an off-limits area, and he's got that heavy-lidded expression Bonnie models are known for anyways which gave them the community interpretation of being the more laid-back one of the group. Monty's the successor to that, and his attraction is _golfing_ - hardly a sport known for thrills and anger.. well, maybe anger on some peoples' parts, but these characters' personalities are mainly intended to be stereotypes. Sure, their lives are on display, and their lack of any privacy except for when mechanically breaking down implies that it's meant to be like that (Monty's ravaged room has closed curtains because it's out of order, and Freddy's curtains are closed because he broke down, but neither Roxy during her mental breakdowns nor Chica's garbage-filled rooms have closed curtains. And their rooms literally have queues leading to their doors and a wall of glass to show them to the public even in the place they're supposed to have privacy at) and that the flaws and ironies of their characters are intentional, but still. That would just mean it's even more likely that despite Monty being literally forced along a path of replacing each fallen star before him, he wouldn't be someone who wants that. Why this is done to sentient robots is a question that I hate having the answer to, even though it all still lines up with how things go like this.
You! You get it! This also fits perfectly with the message that says Monty misses multiple performances to hang out on the catwalks. Nobody talks about that message for some reason
Your segment about Monty acting like a real gator made me think maybe Roxanne’s self doubt and self esteem issues stem from being isolated most of the time, when wolves traditionally are part of packs and support each other as long as they don’t drag the pack down. Roxy has to be the best, she has to be top dog, but she’s confined to her green room without her bandmates, she’s lacking in support, so she’s hit with crippling self doubt.
Then does this mean Freddy needs rest? My idea is that bears are kinda known for hibernating, but Freddy is the main mascot, so he's being overworked to attend shows and meet fans to the point that he's exhausted (but hiding it) and sometimes breaking down when just a little bit more strain gets put on his system than he can currently handle (such as an unknown child appearing in the cheering crowd during a show?)
@@xXFeralPyr0pteraXx Actually that could be a good reason as to why he's the only one with a recharge station he's being overworked and thus needs a boost to keep him going all the time as the lead member and face of the brand.
I feel as though Monty was given the least amount of character and details. He's the only one out of his bandmates without a sense of layering or a contradiction in his actions, like Roxanne being insecure yet hiding it by projecting it or Chica being gluttonous yet a fitness enthusiast. And his shattered form also doesn't have a sense of irony like Roxie's face being ruined or Chica's mouth being destroyed. I agree with your final conclusion: he's underused, and underdeveloped. It would be cool to see more added to him in the Ruin DLC, if he shows up.
Yeah. Monty is just… angry. He has no depth, no twisted logic, just… anger and jealousy. That’s it. Maybe he should have had his hands gone a la Withered Chica, seeing as how that’s the thing that allowed him to replace Bonnie - not only do his claws allow him to pluck the strings, but it also allowed him to scrap Bonnie.
@SuperMarioFan 3001 I suppose so, but I meant thematically and in what happened. That is ironic, but I meant in what was shattered and how it correlates to a major aspect of his flaw, like Chica's mouth and Roxanne's eyes.
Gators are also very vocal which is why Monty might have more grunts and growls and roars rather than actual lines. I really hope there's more of him in Ruin. He's a good guy, just misunderstood.
That is literally IRL gators too. They are just nice little reptiles who wanna stay away from people and enjoy mudslides and piggyback rides with their friends. You can even swim with them in the same water, and there will be no issues. I love gators.xD
I can't find a source for this, but apparently Monty's VA said he has a "notice me" complex with Freddy, which I find kind of interesting. Maybe he's torn between admiration for Freddy vs wanting to upstage him or something.
Adding on the fact that Monty wants to be near Freddy not out of hate or jealousy but admires Freddy, his VA also mentioned this during in an interview when talking with the devs during development
16:35 "Unfortunately, years of untapped anger and himbo energy causes him to smash in Bonnie's face in one blow" Bro how do you come up with gold like this that fuckin killed me
I think that if Monty killed Bonnie, he definetely did so under Afton/Vanny's influence. Sure he has major anger issues, but I don't think he would actually kill a fellow animatronic. He doesn't attack Freddy in the game even though we know he's jealous of him.
and like. while fazbear entertainment makes a lot of questionable choices, to put it lightly, why would they program one of their animatronics with enough free will to destroy another animatronic just because they wanted to? a greedy company like them wouldn't want their property destroyed. hacking is definitely at play here methinks.
you guys are forgetting the fact monty couldn’t be able to attack bonnie because he didn’t have the claw upgrade. bonnie’s claws were given to monty after bonnie was decommissioned. not to mention, if monty struck bonnie then bonnie would have a chance. maybe they were done with bonnie because of probably afton. i mean afton was the one to murder kids in a bonnie suit. and i’m not sure if this is true but apparently bonnie ate a cat??? but that aside monty doesn’t seem like he wants to be in the shows, it did say in one of the reports monty keeps missing shows and goes to the catwalks in gator golf but idk 🤷🏾♀️.
@@shadowbowser5674 “hey! Little guy!” “You can hide, but you can’t hide!” Monty’s my favorite of SB. He looks goofy, has my favorite cheesy villain voice lines in the game and of course, giga monty exists. Being able to stand in the middle of a crowd of montys may not be an intended part of the game, but it is super funny
Controversial opinion, but I think Monty is a better fit for this game than Bonnie. I know Glam Rock Bonnie would have a different personality and look, but when thinking about what kind of animatronic would work in an 80s inspired play place, I think having a "RADICAL" animal like a gator is more interesting than a Rabbit.
@@ExValeFor You sure that there are more rabbits than bears newly introduced in each game, huh? FNAF 1: 1 rabbit, 2 bears FNAF 2: 3 rabbits, 4 bears FNAF 3: 2 (if you count spring Bonnie) rabbits, 2 (if you count Fredbear) FNAF 4: 3 rabbits, 4 (if you count the Freddles as a separate character from Nightmare Freddy) FNAF SL: 2 rabbits, 2 bears FNAF Pizza Sim: 2 rabbits, 4 bears UCN: 0 rabbits, 1 bear FNAF VR: 1 rabbit, 0 bears Security Breach: 3 rabbits (if you even count Vanny and the absent Glamrock Bonnie), 2 bears
I mean I kinda disagree but mostly with the animal choice part having Bonnie is I mean it's not that he wouldn't fit he would probably just feel out of place with the color scheme maybe at least among the band I think i would only like to see Bonnie for the personality tho other then that it could have been another random rabbit
Maybe Monty’s inflated personality is envy. Maybe his normal character is chill, but envious of Freddy’s band - and his envy was amplified, fully ready to kill to get ahead. He might have been a solo act originally, and believed he had more talent than a four-person act. After all, a quad-wheeled car is normal, but a SINGLE-wheeled car is impressive.
He was almost definitely a solo act originally, considering he wasn't part of the band but already existed so was able to replace Bonnie at the drop of a hat. Additionally (although I can't remember where this was said) his character is around 20+ years older than the rest of the band - not actual age, but programmed/mental age, which makes sense for a character made for a golf attraction haha.
Plus there is a stage in Monty golf! It could have been his own stage. If he was like Sun and Moon, or music mman, he had his own Green room. His own attraction but now he's taken away from it and forced to share the spotloght with others
In my opinion Monty did not kill Bonnie. Bonnie was investigating the Pizzaplex and close to the truth, so Vanny hacked Monty to dismantle him and take the remains for Burntrap. The reason why Monty is angry all the time is he was used to dismantle Glamrock Bonnie and all he feels is anger and guilt. And the final stage in Monty Golf arcade? That’s the virus taking hold of Monty’s worst aspect, envy.
@@n0raaFTW I think what he meant is Monty wasn't in control and wouldn't do this in his own volition even with an envious vice he wouldn't act on it without the virus's effect. It isn't his true self.
I think Monty has a soft spot for children. When he says, "Hey, little guy", and "Come on out. We're only trying to help", I truly do believe him. There, he sounds motivated by concern. I think all of his rage issues are directly related to Glitchtrap. He's fighting so hard not to let Glitchtrap and Vanny take control, but he just can't shake it off, and that's where all his anger and aggression come from. I believe, IF he killed Bonnie (still not fully convinced), it was due to Glitchtrap and Vanny. And that would enrage him so much, that if he could become free of the virus, he would turn into Afton's most dangerous enemy.
Or that Monty is so Strong that he Accidently did it too hard while Playing Golf and a Somthing big has fell on Glamrock Bonnie and This is another way of how Glamrock Bonnie Is Not in the Game...
Personal theory: Glitchtrap possessed Bonnie when a kid was left behind (Because he seems to have this weird rabbit fetish), Kid went to Monty Golf, Glitchtrap/Bonnie went to Monty Golf, Monty defended the kid, in the ensuing fight Bonnie gets knocked off the catwalk, and Monty restrains him. Glitchtrap switches control to Monty, and deals the fatal blow, before carrying Bonnie's corpse to a more secluded location - as he needs to remain hidden. Monty would be too afraid to speak out, so he lashes out. It is also the reason he patrols the walkways and sometimes skips shows: He feels guilty.
I personally love Monty, and feel he was underused. This may sound weird, but Monty's design kind of has a nostalgic vibe to it. I'm not sure why. Lol. Also I love that they're using more diversity with animals. Not just bunnies, bears, foxes, & chickens. :)
The first and second game in the series made sense having only those four, and the second still branched out, while the third had none. The fourth, well, it wouldn't do to have some random ones - that was meant to bring terror to the nostalgic designs. And after that, I think it became more habit than anything, although perhaps SL's take on it was the wrong way to go. The Melodies, if not for being, well, mediocre - they would've been a good competing band. New characters were needed quite a while ago.
@@BringBackCyParkVendingMachines Oh I know it is. I didn't word it right. I just mean like his look reminds me of early 2000s toys I use to see/play with. Or like those places with indoor playgrounds that had the cartoon animals. Stuff like that. Sorry I'm not really good with my words. Lol.
I also have a theory of my own on Monty's anger issues and jealousy I think Monty indeed wants to overthrow Freddy and become the main star, but I don’t think he wants to murder him, I think it’s because due to Freddy being the main star, Freddy gets all the love and attention from the kids and the older fans who go to the pizzaplex in their universe, which makes Monty extremely jealous and upset that the fans don’t appreciate him like they do Freddy, he probably tries to talk to them but they constantly ignore him or ask him “Where is Freddy? We want him!” And that gets him super upset and jealous that he thinks of throwing Freddy in the trash, but he hesitates and realizes he can’t do that because Freddy is his friend. I think Monty just wants to be loved deep down. That’s just my theory
I love this hc so much, add to this is my idea that Bonnie was his only friend (that's why he visited Gator Golf on that fateful night) and feels immense anger and guilt after the incident that he directs at Freddy for having everything.
Fun fact: While there were no official gators before Monty, there was a fan - made animatronic posted to the Fnaf subreddit in 2015 named Tater the Waiter Gator. This character may have actually given Scott inspiration for Monty!
I think Monty might've been a lot more friendlier then we think. He calls Gregory little guy while the other call him by his name, maybe a hold over from his old personality before the virus. I think the whole bit with Freddy in the dumpster was a foreshadowing of one of the endings where Monty replaces Freddy. One thing I find interesting is that a LOT of his promo's show him without his sunglasses yet his animatronic has sunglasses. I believe that maybe Vanny smashed Bonnie though why we have no idea and I think the Ruin DLC will shed light on this but I believe that Monty's old personality was friendly, laid back and maybe a little bit shy. I'm guessing he got hit hard by the virus which flipped him to a more animalistic state. We have seen some of the problems the other animatronics have and that generates some sympathy for them so I can see why it's hard to have sympathy for Monty but I believe he really was a good guy, like a gentle giant.
To me it seems like the laid-back nature of how Monty is depicted in the merch around the pizzaPlex makes me think that they were trying to capture that same laid-back and chill personality that Bonnie had ,evidence for this being the Hanna-Barbera style cartoons that we saw leading up to security breach
@@notrealnamenotatall2476 exactly just like the old saying goes just because you replace something that doesn’t mean it will bring the same charm as the thing you replaced
@@notrealnamenotatall2476 also you pointed focused towards the fact that originally you were supposed to get Monty’s legs do you think that there’s some connection there for Bonnie since Bonnie is a bunny and bunnies can jump high
I feel like monty gets too much hate, its not even confirmed if he got rid of bonnie or not. I actually felt bad for him when I got him chopped in half. Even if he would have done the same to me if given the chance. Very under used character.
Gregory taking Monty's legs instead of his claws make so munch sense and it would give Freddy a munch more powerful update (and also some pants). Honestly, Monty is the character that got the short end of the stick when it comes to characterization, i feel like the whole "Monty killed Bonnie" mistery could have been very interesting if it was actually implemented or important in the game instead of something implied. At least the fandom is treating him well in general.
I'm sooo glad you mentioned Spiff's influence on people's perception of the character. Giga Monty is the best thing that ever happened to Security Breach
Ok but the whole “Bonnie ‘trespassed’ on Monty Golf and Monty reacted like an alligator would” BLEW MY MIND. Seriously, how do you keep coming up with these incredible takes?? Because yeah, Monty is simple minded and has displayed animalistic behaviour before! The whole “animal trapped in a cage and who’s lashing out” makes perfect sense when put in the context that Monty is just “wild” for lack of a better word. “Wild” is actually a really good word to describe him. The whole animal side of him could be recontextulized into the “mindless machine” archetype, but I find it interesting nevertheless. That might also lead to the question of why? Why is he like this when the other band members aren’t? Well, perhaps it has to do with the fact that he’s a side attraction. I always got the impression that the Daycare Attendant and DJ Music man had simpeler personalities or coding than the band members. They were never made to be as nuanced as Freddy, Bonnie, Chica or Roxy. So perhaps the reason that Monty is so different from the other Glamrocks is because he was never programmed to be as complex as them, being a side attraction. The whole thing with him not originally being a part of the band is interesting to me, because what makes him different to the other Glamrocks? With the Daycare Attendant and DJ, it’s kinda obvious how they differ from the Glamrocks, both physically and functionally, but what makes Monty not a part of the band? It’s possible the reason he looks so similar to them is due to the upgrades he got when he joined, but if Monty really was so similar to the Glamrocks even before he was part of the band, why was he made that way? I think that he acted differently mentally from the other Glamrocks. He just has simpler coding, and he isn’t made to be as sentient or smart as the Glamrocks. That could explain his general meatheadedness as well as his animalistic tendencies! Maybe he just isn’t as conscious as the others!! Idk that’s just me spouting my thoughts on the table.
I'm thinking that Monty didn't use to be this aggressive before the breach of Vanny and Afton Virus. While he's depicted as laid-back in the cutouts and stuff, I think he tried to be 'cool' by being destructive, like that of the rockstars who crash guitars on the floor. Probably a try-hard himbo. When he got the virus, his destruction bar went off to maximum and instead of crashing things to be cool, he literally destroys everything now. I also like your take on him being like a real alligator, I think that makes a lot of sense! I also agree that his legs being Freddy's upgrade makes more sense, as his claws were seen to be clearly used only once when he tore the shooter apart, but he was seen kicking/punching the fence open many times, which doesn't really require the claws.
Monty is probably the biggest sign of how unfinished and rushed this game is. There clearly was more planned for his character (as well as the rest of the game), but it's been pretty much lost because of rushed development
I honestly like the idea that Monty feels like a caged animal like you said. In the Foxy video you mentioned how Foxy never really changed much even after his band changes, and that just made me think that Glamrock/Captain Foxy just ran away. Why do we not see windows in the Pizzaplex even though you have windows in malls of similar size? Maybe because Foxy broke one and got out, needing to have his place filled by Roxy instead (depending if on all Glamrock models have the recharge station gimmick he might still be living his best life if that's the case). Not only might he be jealous, he might want to pull a Wally Franks and get outta there! EDIT: Dear god, I think that's the best description I've ever heard of a situation where Monty kills Bonnie while not demonizing him (okay, the ONLY one like that). I always thought it could be something like that and I wanted to make it a comic and post it, but since it could be considered su*c*de I didn't want to look inconsiderate. I loved seeing you voice that idea. My headcanon for why they didn't replace Glamrock Bonnie (and Foxy, for that matter) is that the personality chips are way harder to make, and in those two animatronics those got damaged. So maybe they're in the head of the animatronic and Bonnie's got just broken enough that he dies and can't be fixed. Also Shattered Monty does a deathroll to make Gregory and amputee before he dies. More on the "gator behavior" section.
Definitely not all of them have to recharge as much, Freddy seemingly takes 0 time to run out of power, but all the others seem to be able to chase you that whole 55 minutes.
I feel like maybe I’m dreamed up context for this, but I always got the vibe that Monty was framed for taking out Bonnie and that Vanny was using parts for rebuilding Afton. Idk if there’s any evidence in the game itself or if my brain latched onto the idea as a way of filling in narrative gaps. I do think it works though especially if Monty’s default programming was more chill but Vanny’s interference is taking advantage of his brute strength or if his lashing out is him trying to fight it. Idk. Wish there was more in game, but Giga Monty makes up for it.
A personal theory of mine, when people see the golf course stage with Freddy isn't Monty's dream, it's his nightmare. I don't really have any evidence for this, but Freddy clearly thinks of all the other bandmates as friends (such as asking if they're okay when Gregory brings their parts), so maybe Monty think of Freddy as a friend to? I know it's a stretch, but with Monty's reluctance to perform and sudden catapult into fame Monty became overwhelmed at the idea of more, despite also wanting it.
In my opinion, I think golfing would kinda be like a non-violent stress relief for Monty. No ripping things apart, no mangling, no smashing...just a peaceful game of golf to calm your nerves :)
I have a theory that I would like to cultivate into a comic one day, but for now I'll leave it here as food for thought: I think Monty really was a laid-back golfer, that he and Bonnie were genuinely friends, but his temperament changed when Bonnie was decommissioned. He took Bonnie's place, his legs (gators can hop but Monty's boss jumps are like that of a bunny), and his room (its doubtful Monty would live in Rockstar Row prior to Bonnie's accident, meaning once Bonnie was gone, the room was Monty's). If all of this was premeditated, why would Monty be so avoidant on missing band practice and hiding away from everyone, when he could have used this as the opportunity to grow his fame into something that could overthrow Freddy? Why tear up his room? What really happened that night? This is where headcanon comes into play: Vanessa joined the team a while before Security Breach happened, and seeing Monty's popularity, she would use him to infiltrate the band by getting rid of Bonnie, and by extension using him to hack into the other animatronics. His anger issues could stem from him knowing this, from knowing he was (possibly) the one to destroy Bonnie, and feeling helpless as Vanessa could be silencing him somehow. Maybe he kept the others at a distance to protect them. Protect himself. Nobody knows because he can't tell. I think this is why Monty is my favorite: we know next to nothing about him, so he could be anything.
i think monty’s character is an exploration of the tragedy of the bassist. always stereotypically dumb, laid back, and overlooked. taking those to the extreme and seeing what happens if it becomes too much
But I have to add that as giga monty they're way more intelligent as you can't get out of their sight so they stop chasing while irl gators can be lost by jumping behind a tree
It kinda feels like Steel Wool wasn't really sure what direction they wanted to take Monty's character. Cause like he wants to take out Freddy which implies that he's the envious type who loves being in the spotlight. But at the same he likes to be alone, and is suggested to feel caged which kinda goes against that.
I like at the end where she compares Montys behaviors to the behaviors of actual gators I never really thought of him that way and found it really interesting
Love how 18:18 is basically just "What if he's a little hater?" It's nice to see something talk about Monty with dept. He's so interesting but he's so underdeveloped leaving us with very little to go off of. It's like someone handing you a bowl of hot water because they forget the other ingredients to make soup or just didn't feel like finishing it.
i always thought it was weird how monty lost his legs, but we collect his claws. the first time i watched a play through of SB i wasn’t really paying attention, and i just saw monty without his legs and thought “oh we probably collected his legs then” and then whoever i was watching said something like “after we collected monty’s claws” and i was like ???????? CLAWS???? but anyway i love your videos sm💜💜
In regards to the question of is he 'evil', it's worth pointing out we don't know how much Glitchtrap and/or Vanny's influence altered their personality. Or how long ago those changes started m
One thing that I don’t see pointed out enough is that Monty didn’t start breaking things so much until he was given the claws to replace Bonnie. He could have been calm and laid back before then.
i like to think monty is just. SO stressed. all the time. and his room is just like. a demolition room for him to let out all of that built up (anxious) energy
I really like the idea that from a meta standpoint that Monty’s personality is based on an actual alligator. Also I’m obsessed with the idea of Monty destroying Bonnie not of his own volition and feeling guilty about it and causing his outburst.
In one of the duffle bags in the game, it says Chica's personality chip has been acting quirky. It seems the glamrocks have more sentience in them, despite them not having souls in their bodies. In a trailer of Security Breach, we hear Monty say, "You will do as I say! You will bring me what I want! And if you fail me, then you will, both of you, burn!". I think the original plot was that Monty was gonna have a bit of a bigger role, but that was probably cut. Monty was an interesting character, but I don't think it's any of the robots faults that they're hostile. The Staff Bots don't kill us, they just jumpscare us and alert any nearby robots that they caught someone breaking and entering. Roxy, Monty, and Chica are just being manipulated by the Glitchtrap virus, so it isn't their fault that they're hostile. It does make you wonder what they'd be like if they weren't under control??? 🤔
I agree that Monty had a bigger role that was cut, though Mathew Curtis confirmed somewhere that those voice lines were ones he did for Burntrap. They just didn't make it into the game.
honestly I prefer when the animatronics were just possesed and lacked personalities of their own (minus the pre-recorded voicelines used for the daytime shows) because its scarier when you know there is no chance for reasoning with the monster hunting you. also fnaf was mostly tied to reality except for the supernatural stuff but suddenly we have sentient AI that show no signs of possesion and a himbo bear
Not sure how much it counts, but I think there's some Monty in Pizzaplex Tales #5: aside from break dancing in the Fazcade, and a legless green robot mirroring him, the middle story has his Glitchtrap virus equivalent send him to either violent outbursts or depressive silences.
This was super awesome! It really does feel like Monty’s character wasn’t full explored in Security Breach. I really hope Ruin is able to give him a bit more characterization.
i love the theory about them all being different rockstar stereotypes. they all seem to fit together and i think that is something fnaf needs more of, stuff that fits together lol
The only theory I had for the disappearance of Bonnie is that it Vanny used monty to decommission him to use his parts for Afton, aka burn trap. As you said, monty could quickly decommission any animatronic, and maybe the glitch virus had made him more aggressive in a way as it did with the others.
I think Monty is my favorite out of all 4 of the band members. I don't really think that Monty wants to replace Freddy, I think he's aware of the fact that he is a replacement member, which makes him feel like he needs to try to be equal to the other members, but at the same time he stays far away, as he's pushed into a place he was not made to be in. Monty seems like when not under the influence of the virus, he is more chill (If a bit dumb) but is still capable of harm due to his claws and potentially, the leftover coding from him being based around golf and needing to hit things with a good amount of force. I don't believe Monty harmed Bonnie out of his own decision, but it was either due to the virus (Vanny needing parts to fix Afton perhaps) or blamed on him simply due to the location. I do love the fact that Monty does act in ways like how an actual alligator would, especially when he is in his ruined form and on the ground kind of moving like how an alligator would. All in all, Monty for me is an absolute favorite, although Freddy is a very close second
I wish he got more about Monty, all the animatronics are interesting. It sucks the game was rushed. It would be interesting it to see how Monty would have been if the game was fully complete.
I like the idea of him just being a robotic gator that walks on two feet and talk- idk why but especially after seeing the goofy shit alligators do, its just funny. A dude who possibly likes kids but can be driven by instinct. Like imagine the guy who invested in his programming looking at alligators and going "yes!"
Another thing that says Monty is just acting like real gator is the fact that his withered jump scare is similar to how real gators attack. Spinning there prey to weaken them while attacking.
Considering the state of disrepair we see Bonnie in, in Ruin. It's possible that he too fell from the catwalks, maybe by his own doing, maybe by Monty, on accident or on purpose, with mercy, vengeance or envy in mind. Regardless of what happened, perhaps it had a guilt-driven impact on Monty, which is why he returns to the catwalks so often despite the many reasons not too.
I’ve seen people question how Monty could return even more damaged in Ruin when he’s already been reduced to just a torso. It’s a fair point…which is why instead of making him even more shattered, I’d double down on the gator theme. Have him crawl around *on all fours* like real crocs and gators
Pov: Gregory actually gets to see Monty in his room. I can only imagine a pile of broken golf clubs in a corner while Monty tries to keep it together and get a hole in one, only for the golf ball to miss and Monty ending up snapping his golf club in half. He throws it to the pile while saying “I. Hate. GOOOOOLLLLFFFFF!!!”
I always saw Monty as just having severe jealousy issues, but I now realize you’re right, we don’t know as much about Monty. Thanks for the insight on his character, your very observant.
Monty has a lot of untapped potential and I really hope he shows up in ruin at least for a little bit since the whole Bonnie decommission mystery is really fascinating to me and could say a lot about Monty as a character based whatever happened in there. Also Gators are awesome as hell!!!
It would be interesting to have a chill animatronic in the game, who can come across you but let it slide under certain circumstances. Of course, if security breach was a better game, we'd see animatronics interacting with each other, and maybe even greggory (deeper than repeating the same 3 voicelines), and that'd be another way to give him depth
I personally like to think that Monty is the “big aggressive guy with a heart of gold” archetype. He’s my favorite so I have given him big boy punk older brother status in my head. I REALLY wish he’d gotten as much development as everyone else in the game and I REALLY HOPE he gets some spotlight in Ruin!
One of my favorite ideas for Monty going on the catwalk, is that he doesn't know what happened to Bonnie, so he's up there to LOOK for him, so he has to get a good look at everything.
Monty is honestly my favorite out of him, Chica, and Roxy. I refuse to believe he destroyed Bonnie, at least not willingly. I felt really bad for him when he wouldn’t even talk coherently anymore after shattering him. I desperately want a game where we can repair the three and fix their issues, making them what they were supposed to be, but I’m not holding my breath, especially since this series doesn’t have many, if any good endings…
This would explain why the shattered Freddy torso in ruin has Monty’s feet models. They just reused the shattered Freddy model, removed the head and retextured his legs to look like freddy’s.
"barely witholding a red hot temper" "unchecked aggression" *is a golfer* Yeah can confirm. It checks out. I'm a groundskeeper at a golf course and I assure you those are the primary personality traits of a golfer.
i feel like the inflated personalities of roxy and chica, and the anger of monty is just a result of afton controlling them, we see freddy completely abandon his objective to protect gregory during the afton fight if he gets posessed
Tbh Montys Personality really reminds me of that one guy who doesent wear shirt from the Babysitter netflix horror movie. Hes extremely bloodthirsty and sadistic but still kinda big brotherly in the way he told the kid he was there to kill to get back on his bully who was egging his house at the moment.
Fun fact:Monty's how could I lose,I am too good looking line from fury's rage is reused In one of the new stories in the seventh tales from the pizzaplex book,The Monty within where Monty reference that line in the food fight arcade that the protagonist,Kane played
This has given me a whole new look at Monty. That he prefers being alone, likes quiet activities like being alone on the catwalks or on the mini golf course--and that being forced into the spotlight might not be his idea. And that in turn causes him to lash out after hours when he can take out his frustrations in a relatively safe way. If Chica has an eating disorder and Roxanne has a personality issue, what if Monty has something like... I don't know, autism? Maybe that's why he's so reserved and has so few voice lines. Though I agree his shattering and upgrade don't really fit what his "programming bug" is. If we were going with the envy angle, maybe--he's no longer a strong contender and literally half the bot he used to be. It should also be noted that when he falls in Gator Golf, he seems to break his jaw, which might explain his inability to speak outside of snarls.
I remember when it was first revealed that Bonnie was cut from this game, I was a little sad because Bonnie is my favorite animatronic, but Monty was super cool from his design alone, so I didn't feel too bad about Bon getting replaced. I do hope they put Monty in a few more games after this. Same with Roxy. I love that the bandmate roster was finally getting expanded with some newer characters, and not just strict variations of the original 4 all the time. Monty's area in SB is my favorite. I remember going to minigolf/arcade places like that as a kid. Even though the quest to get there was barren, that area had some strong personality to it. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the prompt to collect his claws appear when you look at his legs? I think you have to specifically look there to even start picking them up.
[Ruin Dlc Micro Spoiler] In the Ruin dlc we get to see the actual Glamrock Bonnie hidden behind the walls, and in his chest he has three claw marks remanicing to Monty's. This for most people was prove that Monty was the one to decomition Bonnie. Here's what bugs me. In basic Security breach we get one e-mail describing Monty's claws, quote: *[Monty upgrade]* MAINT LOG: MONTY - "Montgomery's claw *upgrades* allows him to play the bass"[...] And in another e-mail: "With Bonnie out of commision, we are making Monty the new *bass* player"[...] He only gets his claws AFTER Bonnie it's out of the picture. So how did he, a clawless animatronic, destroyed another one leaving C L A W marks on him? In one of the endings, we see how Vanny comands the staff robots to desasemble Freddy and later in that same ending Gregory does the same to Vanny, so what's stoping us to belive that, somehow, the staff bots were the ones to decomition Bonnie?? Besides, the state we find him in looks similar to how Freddy got shraddered by those staff bots in that ending. But hey! That's just a theory, a comment theory! Thanks for reading.
6:00 "Look, Gary! There I am!" In all seriousness, I do remember when I wrote the analysis of how all the Glamrocks have similar vices to real-life rockstars in a RUclips comment. Other examples that I can give about the good design that this game has for characters are how all of the animatronics have purple in their designs except Freddy. In Fazer Blast, Freddy is the only one shown without a gun/weapon. He is posed with a lifted finger. All of the others have guns. I love your analysis here on Monty. :)
When you brought up the possible (though improbable) connection between Monty and Andrew, I suddenly got excited for a future video about him. I mean, he was a child with so much rage that he presumably was responsible for the disturbing actions of Fetch, which led to the gruesome death of the protagonist's crush. You'd think that he would try his hardest not to kill people because of what was done to him, but he was just so blinded with anger and resentment. Edit: why did autocorrect make Andrew's name "Anthony"???
Oh, I did sort of do a video on him! I didn't tackle Fetch in full, but I discussed Andrew's presence in the epilogues in "The Real Story of the Stitchwraith."
@@notrealnamenotatall2476 What's weird about the gator situation is that William Afton's stand-in, "Bill", in "Step Closer" takes his son to fishing trips. This means that Old Man Consequences could be the actual soul of William Afton and the sounds of William's desperation came soley from him. "Leave the demon to HIS own demons. Rest YOUR own soul. There is nothing else." With the context of GF/Cassidy being in the "Step Closer's" protagonist position, including the fatherly position of the Candy Cadet protagonist (whom is most likley William Afton) and how innocently child-like the MCI children (Molten Freddy, which has a portion of Cassidy's soul) are to William, I wonder if Cassidy/GF is trying to save the William (OMC) from "the one you shouldn't have killed." Speaking of that character, I find it weird how no one suspects this soul to be the "Save Him" kid that MCI Killer purposely murdered (whom is revealed to be son in Midnight Motorist) nor thinks about how Glitchtrap/Springtrap created the UCN, as proven in Princess Quest 3, meaning "The one you shouldn't have killed" is actually Springtrap/Glitchtrap all along. It puts in whole new context to everything Henry is saying in PS or what Glamrock Freddy is talking about when they don't ever refer to Scraptrap/Burntrap as William Afton. Burntrap lacks the canonical biases William has for Gregory/CC while lacking the biases Molten Freddy has for William in PS and SB (They can sense Glamrock Freddy is William Afton, yet give no fucks about CC/Gregory). Instead of dragging "the one you shouldn't have killed" to the devil, Henry accidentally transformed him into the devil running his own version of hell (UCN).
Second theory: Monty was never meant to be a rockstar like the other Glamrocks. He was originally meant for Gator Golf. After what happened to Bonnie--accident or otherwise--he's thrust onto the stage. He has his own stage in Gator Golf, so all he needs is an upgrade for his playing, he's a perfect replacement. But they never upgraded his _personality._ He lashes out because the stardom is getting to him and he's reclusive in Gator Golf because that's where he belongs. He's three rockstar stereotypes in one: the reluctant rockstar thrust into the spotlight, the destructive rockstar after hours, and what Fazbear Entertainment is pushing--the jealous heel. A side note: despite the overwhelming surplus of breakable staff bots, there's no evidence Monty broke any of them. It makes me wonder if Bonnie was an accident, at least in Monty not knowing his own strength, and the first and last time he ever broke a bot.
I headcanon he has sensory issues, primarily towards loud noises and bright lights, and his “anger” is a result of outbursts linked to that. Think about it, he was programmed for golf, a relatively quiet and repetitive sport, and suddenly finds himself on a bright stage with dozens, if not hundreds of screaming people. And isn’t it said Monty is constantly trying to get back to Monty Golf, even at risk of damaging himself? Bro just wants to go home.
Monty is my all time favorite next to Freddy and Roxy, and I can't stand it when people talk trash about him (mostly TikTok kids.) If he killed Bonnie, I think it was under Vanny's control. If you look at art of him, he looks like a laid back gator. I also don't think he's jealous of Freddy. I think he looks up to him or see him as a brother. It's just funny to me how everyone talks shit about Monty replacing Bonnie, but nobody batted an eye about Roxy replacing Bonnie. I think it's great we got new characters, and I love Giga Monty, and the fact that Shattered Monty’s jumpscare is the Death Roll
Fr. I’ve seen people send death threats to his fans and even threaten to dox their ip address because they said one positive thing about him. Meanwhile some Roxy simps will say the most disgusting things and no one seems bothered…
@HandsomeWombat5469 What?! I knew about the Roxy stuff and I have no issues with that but sending death threats/threating to dox people over them saying nice things about a character that doesn't even exist? They have to children/unstabled teenagers. That's so not ok
Yeah. I’ve seen some people role-playing as Monty on RUclips, Twitter, Roblox, TikTok etc where people comment like” I hate you for killing Bonnie” like bruh they are not the real Monty bruh. These people are getting so butthurt over their fictional rabbit waifu not being in a game.
@HandsomeWombat5469 And the funny? There wasn't a Shadow Bonnie in FNAF 3, and from what I saw, nobody said anything. I don't know if it was because we got Springtrap, but nobody said anything. I can't stand the FNAF community sometimes, and I've been in it since 2014
@@HandsomeWombat5469ik I’m late but I’ve been in the fnaf fandom since 2014 bonnie had always been my favourite but monty replaced him for me I legit get angry people hating me bec I like him wtf 💀
I think you make a good point about Monty feeling trapped, it makes me think that perhaps the Artificial intelligences have been left with mental illnesses as a result of their mistreatment; Monty has anger problems, Roxy has narcisissm, and Chica has an eating disorder.
I know these topics have been talked to oblivion so I likely don't have anything to add, but I have an odd theory about Why the animatronics were starting to have trouble. Chica seemed to become more and more obsessed with eating and not having any inhibitions, Monty starts becoming more and more aggressive and yet tries to put himself away from other people, like going to his room or up on the catwalks. These alone don't seem like much, but there was something odd I noticed about the way Roxy spoke to herself, because while it des seem like the steroetypical 'Rocker psyching themselves up' Roxy's voice actually changes in pitch and a little in mannerisms when she says 'I' or 'You'. And even later when she is crying her eyes out, she still continues to change pitch and attitude depending on if she is saying 'I' or 'You' So my theory is that Afton far below is trying to influence them, getting into their heads and trying to control them or possibly even Jump into their bodies to get out of his damaged one trapped below. So if Afton is the one talking to Roxy and manipulating her, maybe he is also influencing Chica and Monty. Especially given the Information given if you beat monty Golf concerning Bonnie, Maybe Monty, the Real Monty is feeling Guilt. Thank you for analyzing these characters so well ^^
None of Glamrocks are evil, they became like this because of Mimic. Chica started eating trash Roxy started being selfish Monty started being aggressive Only Freddy stayed as good, DLC Ruin shows that Roxy are no longer evil for example because she is not under Mimic’s control.
yeah i remember his legs disappearing when i collected his claws when the game released
they still do
His whole body disappears when you collect the claws
Gregory takes them out of spite
The legs disappear first then his whole body later after you take the claws
Love to think of them just running off on their own like a cartoon
I think you're on to something with the anger being a front for fear thing
YES, this guy gets it! Take notes, fanfiction writers!
You!

That's something I never thought about, and a really good point!
That could also apply to Chica's appetite. Chickens tend to not be, uh, picky.
@@notrealnamenotatall2476 just like seagulls
I never thought about that, that's a really interesting idea!

@Sailor Polaris Very true! Just like the others have aspects they hold back, Monty could be someone who has deep anger issues and always hides it
@SuperMarioFan 3001 I suppose so, but I meant thematically and in what happened. That is ironic, but I meant in what was shattered and how it correlates to a major aspect of his flaw, like Chica's mouth and Roxanne's eyes.

I think that if Monty killed Bonnie, he definetely did so under Afton/Vanny's influence. Sure he has major anger issues, but I don't think he would actually kill a fellow animatronic. He doesn't attack Freddy in the game even though we know he's jealous of him.
If he wanted to kill someone it would’ve happened a long time ago.
I think it was because Bonnie was becomming a threat to Vanny so she chose to use him to reconstruct Afton.
The devil influenced the common man on his urges type of thing
and like. while fazbear entertainment makes a lot of questionable choices, to put it lightly, why would they program one of their animatronics with enough free will to destroy another animatronic just because they wanted to? a greedy company like them wouldn't want their property destroyed. hacking is definitely at play here methinks.
you guys are forgetting the fact monty couldn’t be able to attack bonnie because he didn’t have the claw upgrade. bonnie’s claws were given to monty after bonnie was decommissioned. not to mention, if monty struck bonnie then bonnie would have a chance. maybe they were done with bonnie because of probably afton. i mean afton was the one to murder kids in a bonnie suit. and i’m not sure if this is true but apparently bonnie ate a cat??? but that aside monty doesn’t seem like he wants to be in the shows, it did say in one of the reports monty keeps missing shows and goes to the catwalks in gator golf but idk 🤷🏾♀️.

Controversial opinion, but I think Monty is a better fit for this game than Bonnie. Monty's personality possibly being just "gator" is the funniest thing to me, I love it!
His own attraction but now he's taken away from it and forced to share the spotloght with others
are you a psychic or sm man?😭
In my opinion Monty did not kill Bonnie.
So
Monty DID kill bonnie
Why would Bonnie be investigating the pizzaplex?
Edit: for clarification, my point is that we don't know if he was hostile like the others

That is my hope as well.
It's based on the 80s...it's a purposeful aesthetic
@@BringBackCyParkVendingMachines Oh I know it is. I didn't word it right. I just mean like his look reminds me of early 2000s toys I use to see/play with. Or like those places with indoor playgrounds that had the cartoon animals. Stuff like that. Sorry I'm not really good with my words. Lol.
@@xhydex9507 I know what you mean. He's so bright and colorful that he's sort of like a TMNT character.
I also have a theory of my own on Monty's anger issues and jealousy
I think Monty indeed wants to overthrow Freddy and become the main star, but I don’t think he wants to murder him, I think it’s because due to Freddy being the main star, Freddy gets all the love and attention from the kids and the older fans who go to the pizzaplex in their universe, which makes Monty extremely jealous and upset that the fans don’t appreciate him like they do Freddy, he probably tries to talk to them but they constantly ignore him or ask him “Where is Freddy?

The upgrade being legs makes a lot of sense with Bonnie too, as bunnies have strong back legs for jumping around
Gigs Monty is one of the scariest things in-game to me, tied with how Vanny dies in either of those endings.
So... RUIN, huh?
While I miss Bonnie, Monty is an interesting character!
It would be interesting if Glamrock Foxy run off
Definitely not all of them have to recharge as much, Freddy seemingly takes 0 time to run out of power, but all the others seem to be able to chase you that whole 55 minutes.
@@midnights2631 I can only think of him being an equivalent of the Stitchwraith. Not the one from the books, but pretty much a nod to it.
Maybe that 'reduced power' thing Vanessa mentioned...
@@vincentmorris8431 makes sense
I think this is why Monty is my favorite: we know next to nothing about him, so he could be anything.
i think monty’s character is an exploration of the tragedy of the bassist. always stereotypically dumb, laid back, and overlooked. taking those to the extreme and seeing what happens if it becomes too much
Monty just being a gator also adds to giga monty. It's just gators hanging around together and going after prey
I like at the end where she compares Montys behaviors to the behaviors of actual gators
I never really thought of him that way and found it really interesting
I like Monty as a easy to anger guy who just wants to be alone because I see myself in that a lot
I loved your ending: Monty isn't evil, he's an alligator!!!!
Love how 18:18 is basically just "What if he's a little hater?"
It's nice to see something talk about Monty with dept.
Thank you! ^_^ I definitely thought it was weird too, so it makes sense that there was a switch-up.
In regards to the question of is he 'evil', it's worth pointing out we don't know how much Glitchtrap and/or Vanny's influence altered their personality.
Or how long ago those changes started m
Rewatching this again before the Monty Post-DLC theory drops and..... I think Monty deserved better.
Y'know his actions also make me think of overstimulation and how the smallest things can set someone who's overstimulated off.
Still though, makes you think what the original plot of Security Breach was? 🤔
honestly I prefer when the animatronics were just possesed and lacked personalities of their own (minus the pre-recorded voicelines used for the daytime shows) because its scarier when you know there is no chance for reasoning with the monster hunting you.
also fnaf was mostly tied to reality except for the supernatural stuff but suddenly we have sentient AI that show no signs of possesion and a himbo bear
Not sure how much it counts, but I think there's some Monty in Pizzaplex Tales #5: aside from break dancing in the Fazcade, and a legless green robot mirroring him, the middle story has his Glitchtrap virus equivalent send him to either violent outbursts or depressive silences.
Oh yes, Monty the himbo gator animatronic. The rival counterpart to glamrock Freddy the dilf animatronic, according to the thirsty side of the Fandom.
comparing the glamrock animatronics' vices to the real life rock and roll lifestyle had me literally going 😮 that's such a clever interpretation
6:43 this actually hits really close to home out of nowhere
Just because he’s a hot head doesn’t mean he is evil. Kind of like TMNT’s Raphael/Raph.
Monty and Raph being similar personas is one of the best character personality takes
I can picture it so clearly omg
Reptile tsunderes?
He's also a bit like Susie Cortez and Roy Koopa
Monty has a lot of untapped potential and I really hope he shows up in ruin at least for a little bit since the whole Bonnie decommission mystery is really fascinating to me and could say a lot about Monty as a character based whatever happened in there. Also Gators are awesome as hell!!!
It would be interesting to have a chill animatronic in the game, who can come across you but let it slide under certain circumstances. Of course, if security breach was a better game, we'd see animatronics interacting with each other, and maybe even greggory (deeper than repeating the same 3 voicelines), and that'd be another way to give him depth
I hope we get a second DLC cause my boy got done SO dirty
I personally like to think that Monty is the “big aggressive guy with a heart of gold” archetype. He’s my favorite so I have given him big boy punk older brother status in my head. I REALLY wish he’d gotten as much development as everyone else in the game and I REALLY HOPE he gets some spotlight in Ruin!
18:48
Why's no one talking about this photo, that alligator is cute af, melted my heart ❤️
I feel like Monty was created just to throw blame on for events, such as Bonnie missing.
The glamrocks ( besides Freddy ) has issues, chica has control issues ( like food ), Roxanne has self esteem issues, and monty has a fear of the crowd
One of my favorite ideas for Monty going on the catwalk, is that he doesn't know what happened to Bonnie, so he's up there to LOOK for him, so he has to get a good look at everything.
I think Monty killed Bonnie but it wasn't entirely his fault. I think Vanny messed with his programming, having him as a sleeper agent in the band.
Roxanne replaces Foxy
FNAF fans: i sleep
Monty replaces Bonnie
FNAF fans: R E A L S H I T
Also yes the legs just popped out of existence when you collected his claws. I remember that from when I played it was super funny
"barely witholding a red hot temper"
"unchecked aggression"
*is a golfer*
Yeah can confirm.
On playstation there was a bug where after collecting the claws, his entire body would disapear
His entire body might as well disappear in ruin. he barely survived being shattered!
[Ruin Dlc Micro Spoiler]
In the Ruin dlc we get to see the actual Glamrock Bonnie hidden behind the walls, and in his chest he has three claw marks remanicing to Monty's. This for most people was prove that Monty was the one to decomition Bonnie.
Here's what bugs me. In basic Security breach we get one e-mail describing Monty's claws, quote:
*[Monty upgrade]*
MAINT LOG: MONTY - "Montgomery's claw *upgrades* allows him to play the bass"[...]
And in another e-mail:
"With Bonnie out of commision, we are making Monty the new *bass* player"[...]
He only gets his claws AFTER Bonnie it's out of the picture.
There I am!"
In all seriousness, I do remember when I wrote the analysis of how all the Glamrocks have similar vices to real-life rockstars in a RUclips comment.
There is nothing else."
With the context of GF/Cassidy being in the "Step Closer's" protagonist position, including the fatherly position of the Candy Cadet protagonist (whom is most likley William Afton) and how innocently child-like the MCI children (Molten Freddy, which has a portion of Cassidy's soul) are to William, I wonder if Cassidy/GF is trying to save the William (OMC) from "the one you shouldn't have killed." Speaking of that character, I find it weird how no one suspects this soul to be the "Save Him" kid that MCI Killer purposely murdered (whom is revealed to be son in Midnight Motorist) nor thinks about how Glitchtrap/Springtrap created the UCN, as proven in Princess Quest 3, meaning "The one you shouldn't have killed" is actually Springtrap/Glitchtrap all along.
If Monty doesn't like being cooped up Fazbear entertainment should try putting clouds on the wall that way he thinks he's outside
3:56 Maybe a reference for territorial animals, they usually like to be on the highest point of their territory just to assert dominance.
My Bro might have temper issues but he is the calmest league of legends player i have ever seen
Thank you for analyzing these characters so well ^^
Ngl id be mad too if i got stuck with golf while all the others got to make food, play lazertag, and drive gokarts
mini golf is fucking rad though
None of Glamrocks are evil, they became like this because of Mimic.
Chica started eating trash
Roxy started being selfish
Monty started being aggressive
Only Freddy stayed as good, DLC Ruin shows that Roxy are no longer evil for example because she is not under Mimic’s control.
