I agree. It’s one of my favorite Yes albums. Just the opener alone (Machine Messiah) is incredible and one of their best and then the album just keeps going with incredible songs.
Maybe the most melodic bass line ever by the might Chris Squire! This song kicked ass in 1980 and it still kicks ass now...41 years later. Awesome cover...loved it!
My favorite bassline from Chris Squire ever! The reason I bought a flanger for my bass in the first place. I'm still tempted to buy an old cheap bass and get my electrician buddy to help me modify it with built in effects like Squire's MPC Electra
Wow Miguel... thank you! Glad to remember Chris' birthday also. I've been watching your videos for about three years. I found you while forming a Yes tribute band here in STL & learning the bass parts. The detail of your work is AMAZING. You are doing a really great thing here on RUclips... keep it up!!
Yes was the soundtrack to high school for me with 90125 and Big Generator (graduated in 1989) and then went back to earlier albums and this song on Drama. I then raised kids and lost touch. Now stuck at home with Corona virus I've been learning these songs to play along since the video shows your fingers more clearly. Really great tone and playing, I also like and learned your earlier versions of On the Silent Wings of Freedom. Stay healthy!
Always happy to see a song off Drama, my favorite Yes album, get a fantastic cover like this. You truly are the Yes Bass master on RUclips my man. If I could request one song, I would love to see Into The Lens. Whatever videos you have planned for the future, I'll be watching intently as I always do. I love your channel. A beautiful tribute to one of the greatest players in music. And home to one of the greatest talents on RUclips.
Miguel, I can't praise you enough! Your videos are so much like remixes of the originals with Chris himself mixed up where he belongs that I'm continually amazed at how skilled you are on bass and how deep your understanding is of who Chris was as a musician and artist!
Great cover, Tempus Fugit is one of my favourite songs from Drama (next to Into The Lens). Would you consider doing a cover for Sound Chaser? I heard it's actually a bit hard, so I'd love to see you do it.
Superb!!!! And so happy it's up. I'm now blocked from Fb live videos. Because last night playing my 4001cs to Roundabout on Fb live. The joy you show lights up the world.
Thanks Miguel for this new video. You are realy one of the greatest YES Fans on the Internet! your videos honer not only Chris, they honer always the whole band YES!! I like them so much (YES and your great bassline videos :)
As always, awesome! Miguel, you are absolutely amazing. Enjoy watching you play so much. And thanks for taking time to contact me. I really enjoy our conversations. All the best to you sir! Rock on!
Wow, parabens. Nem é preciso perguntar qual seria a Banda preferida deste senhor. Claro que o cover é perfeito, mas hands down pro Sr Chris. Ele é de outro mundo e tocou o baixo até aos últimos dias da sua vida, incrível...
This is really awesome! This is one of my favorites, and I adore this bass line (it's an absolute blast to play). Glad to see you tackle it, and I love how you capture the original tone without overdoing it, as well as your enthusiasm playing it. Thumbs up!
@@miguelbass I was fortunate enough to take in the 'yeggles' as i called them at the deeside leisure centre, Chester. Uk believe it or not it was a large ice rink boarded over, no seats. i.e the Drama tour. Lots of yes fans quite sniffy about them. I myself thought they were wonderful and a refreshing change. And so, when this came up on my menu - it brought back oh so many wonderful memories of watching them perform 'Drama' in its entirety and other classics. As for Chris Squire. he didnt just do bass guitar. he did 'seismic events' 😉 so god bless you for this wonderful rendition so well done, you can hear and see everything......
Well done. Note the easiest of bass parts to learn! I've always loved Chris' playing, and this song showcased him at his busiest and best. Awesome cover; great work!
Always loved this song; Squire’s bass drives the whole thing with that cool repeating line (which is tricky to play). Fantastic job on a difficult song! Great tone; sounds like you used a flanger like Chris did. And kudos for also knowing the LYRICS, which are as complicated as the bass. Ha ha!
That's exactly how it is played. We used to play this song back in the '80s and in the beginning, I thought not only the bass is tricky to play but how do I sing the harmony part. It was not that difficult in the end, just had to practice slowly to find where the words fit in.
I love your passion for Yes, I'm grateful that my time on Earth was shared with Yes at their peak, especially the work of Chris Squire. Thank you so much for highlighting the work of Genius. Bravo..... Ps any thoughts on LSD ?

Absolutely!! Stands along side with Fragile and Closer to the edge!!
Few songs but great songs with stellar work in them. I agree!

Thank you very much! Hope to see you later today for the premiere of my latest video!
Haha 44 years ago now and i still remember buying this album and playing this for first time!
Awesome cover! You are amazing!
It's like you're possessed by Chris Squire's spirit.
Thank you very much!
Drama was a great album that never got the respect that it deserved.
Miguel, you totally nailed it!
Thank you very much, Paul!
... and Chris Squire also sang so beautifully (while playing these amazing bass lines)... incredible!
Couldn't agree more, Eduardo. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for covering this Miguel. This is the best song on "Drama" and you nailed every note!!!
Thank you very much Donn!
Awesome! Saw them play this in 1980 in Manchester...what an experience!
Thank you, Ron!
The tone on that is GLORIOUS! Well done!
Thank you very much!
This is absolutely brilliant! I love the way you opened the video with the band photos and then the pictures of you. Excellent stuff as always.
Thank you so much, Rael!
My favorite bassline from Chris Squire ever! The reason I bought a flanger for my bass in the first place. I'm still tempted to buy an old cheap bass and get my electrician buddy to help me modify it with built in effects like Squire's MPC Electra
That would be great! I've seen some MPCs in good shape and there is someone who modifies them to look just like Chris'! Thanks for watching!
I’ve been playing bass for a decade or so now, and thanks largely to Squire I’ve always loved the bass+flanger combo to add a little funky flair
One of my favorite Squire songs!
Hi Robert! Thanks for watching!
This and "Parallels".
Outstanding!
Thank you very much, Anthony!
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this. Utterly brilliant playing Miguel!

Thank you dear friend, welcome to the channel!
Chris Squire was so big part of Yes. Bass in other bands often buried in the mix. But Chris' riffs were often in the forefront
That’s how we like them! ;)

Thanks John!
Complete bass guitar mastery of a killer Yes song.
Including the ever important Bass Flanger.. Nice touch.
Thank you very much, Dave!
Amazing that you were able to capture the sound of customized MPC Electra bass guitar - one of my favourite in Chris' collection.
Thank you very much! That was out of my old Boss pedalboard which has a very good flanger :)
Me encanta!! saludos Miguel, un abrazote desde Chile
Um grande abraço, Mariela!
Really awesome!! Thanks for doing this.

Miguel, beautifully executed, but the real revelation is seeing what Chris was doing as you are presenting it!! Really great bass lines and tone, !!!

You sound eerily like the late lamented Chris Squire! What secrets, other than your technique, a Rickenbacker 4001CS, Rotosound strings, and a pick?
Ha! :) Not really secrets, but you named some important elements. Many years listening to Chris and being inspired by him! Thanks for watching!
