I am a bag hoarder. My husband laughs at me. I had them organized by size and type of closure. I save all the bags my TEMU items come in. I had a garage sale in February. I reduced my crafting hoard by 30% at least. I sold my card making, knitting, wreath, beading supplies and more. I used every bag I had packaging it all. I had over 24 empty totes after my garage sale. My husband advertised the totes online and they all sold! I save the large shopping bags as trash bags in my craft/sewing room. It felt great to lighten my load. You have inspired me for a round two!
Oh that sounds so freeing. I bet it’s a great feeling. It must be so nice to be able to just enjoy the stuff you kept. Is there anything that you got rid of that you really miss?
Not really. There have been a couple of times I cannot find something after the reorganization. A member of our group decided to retire so I bought all her supplies and backstock for a scarf business. I had no room, so some things had to go. I took the opportunity to get rid of my 5x5 storage unit.
Now you know we’re gonna wanna see your garage at some point. Whenever you said yourself I’m just gonna keep this for a little while longer while I think about it - it’s going to be permanent wherever you put it. This is the voice of experience talking. It seems to me that you were moving a lot of stuff to the garage. But I wish You good luck and I’m definitely enjoying watching you.
Thank you ……I know, I know. I’m getting there slowly but surely. And I will be emptying that garage soon and I will be taking you all along. I need all the help I can get. Thanks for watching😀❤️
Oh I know Mona, it’s rough! It was so HARD for me to get started, but thankfully it’s getting easier and easier. Of course not with the baggies though…… that really took me along time to make that decision about them. Oh well we will get there., and it will feel soooooo good 😊❤️
I've been using gift bags more often. We get give them, we give them away. I've found there's enough in circulation that I only buy one every now and then. The kids big Christmas presents get given in an extra large bag with tissue paper on top and the top taped shut as best I can. I grab the bags back and reuse them next year. Like with like should definitely be your organisation system. It can take a while to tame the chaos. If you have room having stuff out if sight and out of mind might not work for you. I think someone else suggested vertical storage might work better. I can recommend the Clutterbug quiz to find your organisation style, if you dont already know. Its a real eye opener. And you an see family memebers styles too, helps to understand each other. You're doing really well.
More bags, and more bags of bags. OMG, were we twins, separated at birth? You and I have so much in common. Just like I love a really good, strong cardboard box, I also love me some really good plastic bags - all kinds, especially Ziplocs. When I am in an ultra-organizing mood, I sort them out and lay them flat for more compact storage, and I can get a LOT of bags in one box or plastic container. I have to limit myself to just the one container, though, so it doesn't get out of hand. When the box/container begins to overflow, I get rid of some. At first I found even that difficult to do, but it got easier over time. Then the plastic grocery bags - that's another story. I use them all the time, for trash can liners, dirty laundry bags when traveling, stuffing/padding when packing something to mail, moving, storing dishes, etc. But I can never use them all up - hah! But when those start to overflow, I gather them up and recycle them at my local supermarket. I am really enjoying this new series of videos you are doing about decluttering. I am trying to do the same thing, and boy, what a huge job it is. Keep up the good work. You are inspiring me to get more done. And I LOVE your principle of "First This, Then I'll Sew!" That makes the whole process less dreadful. LOL Keep up the good work!
LOL ….I certainly see that we do have a lot in common….Our state stopped the stores from giving out plastic bags, and yes of course I collected those bags too. I had a sweet little hanging pig bag holder that was bursting at the seems with bags, plus I had more bags of bags. Lol. I’m so happy that you commented. I’m happy to know that I’m not alone with all these collections. Thanks for watching! 😊❤️
Maybe If you fold those zip lock bags they will take up so much less space and you can find what you need when you need a bag. I love that you reuse them!! ❤
