I actually loved this film! A capable, cunning, and compassionate heroine? And a dragon with a badass design, and fantastic voice actress? Yes, please! It definitely has some horror elements. The dragon first revealing itself to Elodie, stalking her through the caves…I thought it was really well done.
From what I have been told, it is to be three maidens each generation, not just three altogether. Elodie was to be the third of the current generation, but since she survived and escaped the dragon, the queen was forced to make Elodie's sister the new third maiden as her replacement. When the dragon killed the queen, she also ended the queen's bloodline just as hers had been ended.
@@kauanandre2066 My understanding is that Elodie was the third sacrifice, but because she escaped the dragon's punishment, the Queen had to find a replacement for the third sacrifice, & had chosen Elodie's sister, Floria. When Floria escaped the dragon's punishment by being rescued by Elodie, the Queen was forced to again find a suitable replacement for the third sacrifice, that being the bride Elodie told to take her family & run, thus escaping the dragon's punishment by the dragon allowing her to leave unharmed, so, in all, only two sacrifices were successfully made for the current generation, the girl Elodie saw in the tower, & whomever had been sacrificed before her.
no they are right! every generation 3 daughters must be sacrifficed! elodie was the second and the first one she saw over from her balcony was thrown in a few nights before her@@screamscenereacts
I love that this movie turned the idea of a damsel in distress on its head. Though they were a little on the nose about it, I really enjoyed this flick. The dragon is so neat!
Paper Bag Princess must be the basis of this movie! Robert Munsch would be so proud - or pissed off, that a book he wrote in 1980 about a princess who saves herself and and the prince from the dragon with her wits. But afterwards, he was bitching about how dirty she was and only wearing a paper bag, so she basically tells him to go to hell because he's a shallow bum. Excellent book about empowerment!! RIP Robert Munsch
Soft, untrained, 5'3" daughter of the richest guy in town...faces a dragon that has slain armies of trained soldiers for centuries by transforming herself in a matters of hours into a hardened, sword swinging, rock climbing, bomb building, dragon slayer...who in the end, is so boss that even the dragon worships her. Why is so she amazing? GIRL! The most super of superpowers. If you've got GIRL!, you don't need training, supernatural powers, or help from anyone...certainly not men (boooo)! Every little girl can be a superhero because they are born with GIRL! 👧 💪 ⚔️
Judging by their large castle-like home, the fact that they keep repeating "take care of our people" & the proposal from the royal family, I think Elodie's family is from the noble class. They seem to be a noble class family that went broke along with the rest of their town
The lantern near the beginning/middle is basically an amber ball, or perfume ball. It was usually loaded with an oily scented product, which would gradually diffuse a scented perfume. It burned for a while because the scented substance inside was oil-based, but it naturally wouldn’t last actively burning a long time, at that size.
I liked how badass Millie can play characters. I was hyped about this movie because Millie has the same level of epic as Henry Cavill. She knows how to play a character well. I had secretly hoped that the dragon was a guy and Millie was going to befriend it right off the bat but I liked how they did it.
@Kaden-ventimiglia It doesn't show anything explicit, and the Dragon can shapeshift into a human form. At the end of the film he and the princess are shown having a kid together.
Yeah for me I loved "I Am Dragon" movie because it’s fictional for example there are series/movies/novels about vampire, werewolves, omegaverse, dogs get reincarnate as a human and fall in love with a human so I don’t find this kind of things weird since we got vampires and we are fine with them falling in love with a human because it’s not real life.
I noticed the plot hole about the map too, but it comes down to the map only marking where the previous girl saw crystals and sunlight, which she could see from the ground floor and might mapped before working out how to adventure up. It obviously didn’t mark the mountain crag complication, which V/Victoria didn’t manage to survive, which is why the eventual dead end wasn’t marked on the map.
those items weren't daggers. Those busk's were usually just a metal or wodden plate. That alone hurts enough, nobody would wear a dagger which could lead to serious injuries in their corset, not even medieval people. This "dagger" was put there because she has to use it in the cave and the writer probably didn't see another chance to give her one. That is why it was shown when she put on the dress. Chekhov's dagger if u will^^
Your channel randomly came up on my feed, and you made my day! Your reactions and comments are absolutely hilarious -thank you for bringing me out of my funk! The editing, the lounge music as you put two and two together regarding why the Dragon wants Eloise had me grinning from ear to ear. You're a gem and I thank you for being you! You're adorable. I subscribed immediately ❤ As for Damsel, I enjoyed it very much, and I think it's very loosely based on based on The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch (published in 1980). A must read for everyone! I enjoyed the twist regarding why the dragon is so pissed off. I would be looking for vengeance too. The ending is much better than any fairy tale I've heard - bend the knee to a sane Khalessi!! ❤🐉 Vengeance, Vengeance, VENGEANCE!!! Lololol Cheers ❤
That danger is to separate the breast because it was in style to have you’re breast apart, and the corset isn’t actually a corset but a sort of stays to help the dress have shape and the dress itself wouldn’t have been uncomfortable just heavy
Love this movie. MillieB is such a good actress. For the dragon, she was such a great design and I love the choice of voice for her. Just wish they had named her, though in my head I call her Shohreh.
I saw this last Friday on Women’s International Day. Good choice to release the movie. Nice twist on the common Fairytales trope. 2:34 They had the guts to show people burning alive. Millie is beautiful, I heard she was in stranger things, I’ve never seen stranger things. I might try it. 3:20 Same. 4:12 Ironically she played Princess buttercup, in the princess bride. 5:37 I watched Half of Love, Simon, on Valentine’s Day, Which I came out to my family. And 2 days later I finished watching the movie. From the beginning. 9:51 I got colt vibes Too. 10:09 So beautiful.😍 12:38 I didn’t know that. 12:49 Millie is Looking like Amy Adam’s off Enchanted.❤ 13:45 As soon as I see something like that I’m Booking it out of there. 14:33 If I see that chasm I’m Fainting, and that Bridge, no chance. 5:01 Angela Is 60 and she still looks beautiful. You gotta watch Stranger Things!!! OH - good for you for coming out!! You should be proud of yourself and I'm sure your family loves you no matter what. 🩷💛💚💙🩵💜🤎🖤🤍❤️👏👏👏👏
I definitely wouldn’t have the nerve to jump across that chasm! Or crawl into those cramped spaces. Although if the alternative was burning alive…maybe I would. Getting wedged there and unable to move would be horrible.
Great movie, idc what the critics say. They don't know shi anyway. Great reaction. I don't think the dad knew _what_ was going to happen to Elodie, just was likely told they could never see her again or some such. Not that she would be dropped to a dragon. And while he did say 'sacrifice', I don't think he thought that at first. He just thought he was losing her forever - albeit to a better life. -But then I'm just an old, buzzed hippie, haha.
Damsel reminded me of that 2006 Minotaur movie! Anyway this was a fun watch. Quite flawed but all I want from a movie is entertaintment and it did delivered. Would definitely love to own a figure of the dragon (and I would have liked to know her name, if she had one)
Hey have you seen _Jack the Giant Slayer_ (2013) yet? Another underrated fairy tale flick. And of course, don't forget the two greatest of the genre, _Tale of Tales_ (2015) and _Pan's Labyrinth_ (2006). Would dig seeing you react to ANY of that 😁

Thank you! You know... I actually don't think I've seen Taking Lives. Will definitely add it to the list when I do a slasher/serial killer month. Got a couple already on there so I will add this one fo sho!
I think Nick Robinson was perfect for the Prince role in this. I don't know him and haven't seen him in anything else so didn't have any expectations or preconceived notions on him for this role. To me he fit in perfectly 🤷♀🙂
He's a very good actor, but you notice he's the only one in the cast who did not do a British accent? That also contributed to me feeling that he was out of place.

Yeah, that seems to be the case.
They’re a duchy. Which can function like a small kingdom depending on whether or not they’re part of a larger monarchy.
