You’re a genius. It never could have occurred to me to use Google street view this way even though I use it a lot. Thank you very much! It’s an excellent way to practice composition.
Great ... It's a fantastic idea and its beauty is enhanced by the ability to take pictures without equipment all over the world! I run immediately to try. You're a girl to keep good, you have great ideas.
Glad you found the idea interesting. I have not done „street view“ shooting in a while now, but I think it’s worth getting back to it. Have fun trying it out! :)
Thanks, this means a lot! :) Matt is an awesome guy with an incredibly educational channel, I am very glad for his support on smaller channels like mine.
Sorry to hear that your NYC trip got cancelled. Hope that virtual street photography at least helps a bit to compensate for that, have fun trying it out! :)
I live in New York, but I too would probably be taking photos this way these days. I haven't been to lower Manhattan (where my office is) since the beginning of March. My recent outdoor photos have been on hikes in Westchester County parks just north of the city.
If you like doing that: go ahead, have fun. I don't think this is street photography or photography at all. As a "side point": All of these images are owned by google and are subject to copyright laws. Google could sue you for showing them on instagram for example.
ComGoBoo its really important that you mention the copyright aspect since that is something we have to take in mind as creators when sharing work online. But the part you say about not being legally allowed to show pictures on social media that were made using google street view is not completely right as far as I know - because you are allowed to publish them, but not use them to make money (e.g. sell prints). And of course this is in no way comparable to „real“ street photography and I never stated that it is. I only think it is good fun and practice in times like this where we cannot easily do „real“ street photography like we used to. So more fun and practice than serious business in my opinion as well, but thanks for the comment :)
