I love the 7mm Rem Mag. I custom built my long range rig in that calibure. Of course I built it on a Mauser 98 action and topped it off with a $900 Luepold scope. The scope cost more than putting the rifle together did. I'll have to try some of the Rem tipped Core-Lokt to see if it likes them like your rifles does. Thanks again for the video and very nice (Great) shooting.
@@mattmackenzie7567 Actually, the 7mm Rem Mag is a cartridge. Caliber refers to the bore diameter such as 7mm or .284 and Magnum refers to certain more powerful cartridges. I can't even just refer to it as a 7mm Magnum because there are several 7mm magnums such as the 7mm Remington Magnum, the 7mm Winchester Short Magnum, the 7mm Remington Short Action Ultra Magnum (RUM), the 7mm Weatherby Magnum and likely others that I am not aware of. So in the future I'll refer to it as a cartridge.
Accurate ammo and rifles are really something to behold. But adequately to extremely accurate ammo and rifles friendly to those on a tight budget is something that really impresses me to the core. That is something that lets more people participate. Keep the reviews coming.
I own a Sako A3 in 7 Rem. Mag and on your recommendation bought a box of Norma Whitetail ammo for this past hunting season. My first trip to the range produced a three quarter inch three shot group at a 100 yards. Now I’m looking forward to getting my hands on a box of this new Remington ammunition to see what it will do in my rifle.
Awesome video, I don’t think you can complain with either one of those rifles. Both of them loved that ammo, even the cheap 770 with a low quality optic shot amazingly well.
Happy to see better grouping from the bags, maybe you could re-test some stuff you did with lead-sled and see a difference. Good shooting today, I liked it.
Looks like some very consistent factory loads, not one flyer. Interested in seeing a few more examples of the new core-loct and see if that consistency is the rule or exception.
I'm betting it's all the same, remington corlocts have always been loaded to basically match accuracy speeds AKA slow fps and a really soft bullet to do the job at low velocity, chrono a corloct
I've been known to buy a Tasco scope or two, but I've been buying Barska for a while now. 10% more cost, 15% more quality. That old green thing is a keeper, but there's no reason to complain about a Sako, even the price. So very smooth.

I haven't had a 7mm mag in 30 years. The only one I ever had was a rifle you probably don't see to much of in the States, it was a Parker Hale model 1200 Safari. That's only rifle I ever owned that I never shot anything with except targets.
My Dad went and bought a brand new Parker-Hale 7mm rem mag, on the day i was born. July 7th, 1967. When i turned old enough to hunt big game, he passed that rifle on to me. It's the only rifle i have ever hunted with, and it's been dead-on accurate every time.
Sweet. Those great groups speak well of the ammo, rifles, optics & shooter. That Sako Rig is a great set up. Please take that out to 1,000 with this ammo. This is a winner. I am absolutely one the 7mm Rem Mag proponents. I have had 3 over the years since mid 80s. I took my first deer with 7 mag this year just to do so. Our ranges do not get much farther than 100 yards so I do mostly bow, handgun & 44 magnum rifle. I am glad Remington bettered this bullet. Well done. Thank you.

I was going to buy a Remington 7mm Mag back in 1986 when I was 18. But I then had to consult an expert... My Dad. He went to the gun shop with me and took a look at the rifle. He saw the Remington .270 right beside of the 7mm. He then had me compare the cost of the 7mm and .270 ammo. To make a long story short, I sure have put a pile of deer in the freezer with that .270 over these past years. Always consult an expert!
dang good shooting WTW....on either rifle some nice groups...be willing to bet a little work on the trigger of that 770 and it might just come close to matching the sako...never tried the 7mm rem mag. but i like what you're showing us on it.....might just have to check in on one
I did the same test on this amo and caliber. Great accuracy better then anything else I had tried, Federal Fusion, Hornady superformance, and Core-lokt regular. Took just one shot to get my buck this year. Wish I had video to show it because it was quite the sight to see as the buck went from a all-out run to sliding through the snow for 10--15 yards ahead after the shot before stopping. It was clear it was dead instantly from the frontal shot. Browning BAR rifle love it!
Wow...talk about sub moa, factory loads at that, that's great! So now we need one of those scope cams for the channel so we can see what you see when shooting 100 yards and such with a side view of the target. Now that would make for some great shooting vids. If you decide to hunt another mule deer or maybe an elk, it definitely needs to be a video like the mule deer hunt when y'all was on horse back and take that 7mm mag with ya. Also, I've been looking for that core lokt ammo for 243 and have yet to find any. Okay, so I lied apparently. Gun Prime has the core lokt tipped 95 grain for 243 @ $3/Rd in a 200 round case. That's $600 for 200 rounds of ammo. If anyone is interested, I found it using Ammoseek.
I’m in the process of customizing my Weatherby Vanguard in 7MM Remington MAG. Just got a couple of boxes of the Core-Lokt Tipped and looking forward to completing my build so I can try these bullets out. If I can get the same results I’ll be thrilled.
I shot this load yesterday in my new rifle. I shot a three shot group less than a half a minute of angle at 100 yards and another one that was 1.3 inches at 200 yards. My new favorite bullet - thank you because I would not have known about it if it wasn’t for you.
Hey HTW, thanks for another great video. Yes, the 7 -mm is one of my favorite rifles. That Remington ammo looks to be some good stuff, it worked really well in your rifles. That's a good thing. That looks like great hunting ammo. Nice to see it perform very well in both a reasonably priced rifle, and something higher end. Sako and Tikka haven’t disappointed me. Great right out of the box.
Nothing shoots better then a Sako with a wider range of different ammo! I have owned hundreds of guns and my Sako’s shoot the best unless it’s a custom build rifle
Very nice shooting! I really like your Sako S20 setup! Those tipped seem to be real sweet and dialed in also! Didn't you take your Remington 770 to a thousand yards, just to show that you could do it with a cheap setup? Yes, you sure did! I went back and checked! I can't wait to see lots of videos with the Sako!🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲
After watching this video, I bought a box of 150 grain to try in my x bolt 308 win. 3 shots measured 5/16”. I’m sold. I just ordered 9 more boxes of that ammo. Thanks for the videos. Keep ‘em coming. I’m trying to find this ammo in 280 rem and 7 mm mag.
Just bought two boxes of 280 core lokt tipped 140 grain. Awesome groups at over 3000 fps. My late 80’s A-bolt loves these things. Don’t know that I’ll ever need another load.
I got a few boxes of the old led tip corelock I'm not a fan of. I told myself I'd use up those before I bought some of these new ones. Yea never mind that if these polymer tips are shooting that good I'm not even going to bother shooting those old led tips.
the Rem 770 w/boyds did great, especially considering it was saddled with a lesser scope comparatively. fwiw I prefer vintage (wood vs plastic) guns but definitely see the advantages of modern technology.
I liked it great groups but like you said you most likely pulled the last shot to some it all up with that ammo I would most definitely take the Remington over the Sako here is another test you can do is a Mossber 464 30-30 against a high end Winchester or Marlin of the same caliber
core-lokt was all i ever bought for both my 30-06 and my 7mm rem mag. still using it in the 30-06. but a few years ago, i tested some others in the rem mag to see if it made any difference. i found that the gun really liked federal vital-shok. and, they performed great on the deer too. i think when this terrible winter ends, i'll maybe try some of these core-lokt again and see how they do.
In my experience with the 7mm mag. and elk hunting I found even the 175 grain bullets available when I used a 7mm to be unable to maintain their structure if they came in contact with bone. I've had wounds in the shoulder of elk that destroyed the bone but did not penetrate into the vital area allowing for a long tracking job. The bullet construction, especially light bullets, could not handle the rpm's and pressure at high velocity causing shallow wound channels. It may be that solid bullets might help this problem but I got rid of my 7mm because other firearms I own do not have this problem.
If I can make a suggestion for a new video I would love to see you and Paul of Heavy Metal get together again and shoot against one another in a wide range of calibers and out to distances to 100yrds. Just an idea now of course not saying it's a must lol.
I'm not to much of a magnum guy. Im one who most time says you dont need them. But.... I own some anyway. Lol. The 7mm mag is a magnificent and highly capable cartridge. I would be proud to own either one of those. But that Sako is for sure a sweet shootin iron. Good shootin WTW.👍👍
I was getting sub moa @107m using Browning BXC 155g 7mm in my Tikka t3x Strata yesterday. Looking forward to seeing these Remington pills land down under
I'm wondering if those new tipped Core-Lokt bullets had anything to do with Hornady? I believe Hornady did make some bullets under contract for Remington a few years ago. Would have to research it deeper. Remington did pioneer the entire concept of tipped bullets with the old Bronze Point a very long time ago.
@@edwardabrams4972 Yes, Federal, Remington, CCI and Speer are all a property of Vista Outdoors. And that is only part of Vista Outdoors holdings. When half the ammo made in the USA is under the control of one corporation, I can't féel real comfortable about that.
I have Hornady 162g BTHP zeroed in my Browning A-Bolt, at nickle-sized groups. But this aint half bad, either. I should get some and dope them in case I run out.
I am hoping to get me a 7mm mag in an older Browning bolt action with a Leupold on top. I took my very first buck with a 7 mag when I was 13 years old. Wow! That was 55 years ago! That is some great shooting WTW! I believe that Sako would be your very next 1000 yard shooter!

core-lokt was all i ever bought for both my 30-06 and my 7mm rem mag. still using it in the 30-06. but a few years ago, i tested some others in the rem mag to see if it made any difference. i found that the gun really liked federal vital-shok. and, they performed great on the deer too.
i think when this terrible winter ends, i'll maybe try some of these core-lokt again and see how they do.
They both did excellent
Nice shooting!
GREAT video, I have used cor lokt in the passed top results
I'm not to much of a magnum guy. Im one who most time says you dont need them. But.... I own some anyway. Lol. The 7mm mag is a magnificent and highly capable cartridge. I would be proud to own either one of those. But that Sako is for sure a sweet shootin iron. Good shootin WTW.👍👍
I’m with you on the magnum thing.
280 for me. I know, it’s almost a magnum.😀
Love my 7mm! great round for hunting big game! great video, thanks!
Great Video as usual but I personally liked the reviews of the "Blue Collar Working Mans " rifles.
I love the 7mm Magnum and the 7mm-08!
Notice how you shoot better groups without lead sled? Lead sled messes with harmonics, need to have recoil
Have to reload all my own shells. No Ammo avalible in Pa. I shot 175 grain Mag Tips out of my 7mm Mag
Very nice grouping with factory ammo, impressive to say the least, especially out of the inexpensive rig.
Those were some great groups.
Sako is what a tikka wishes it could be 😆
Hey that was some phenomenal shooting!! Wow, great job!!
Thanks Ed
I was getting sub moa @107m using Browning BXC 155g 7mm in my Tikka t3x Strata yesterday. Looking forward to seeing these Remington pills land down under
Damn fine shooting. Seriously
🙏🙏🙏
I'm wondering if those new tipped Core-Lokt bullets had anything to do with Hornady? I believe Hornady did make some bullets under contract for Remington a few years ago. Would have to research it deeper. Remington did pioneer the entire concept of tipped bullets with the old Bronze Point a very long time ago.
Federal bought out Remington ammo production part of the company!
@@edwardabrams4972 Yes, Federal, Remington, CCI and Speer are all a property of Vista Outdoors. And that is only part of Vista Outdoors holdings. And having that many eggs in one basket concerns me greatly. I can't help but wonder if we are going to be paying premium prices for many years to come.
Another awesome vid mate, My tikka shoots like that Sako all day long too
These new core lokt tipped look very promising. Id be curious how they stack up against the hornady ELDX. Thanks WTW🤘🏻
Good shooting!!
I vote for the sako to win!
