Same here.. G3 bricked on me right at 2 years so I got a G5. Picked up a G7 2 days ago because of Sprint's current deal on them and so far I'm digging it. The size is a bit odd at first since its tall and skinny but I'm getting used to it. The speaker is definitely a lot better than the others I've had. I do somewhat miss the super wide angle lens on the G5 compared to the G7 camera, I get them wanting to not have so much distortion from the wide angle compared to their older phones but the newer wide angle isn't quite enough imo.
That phone looks great! Such a shame that this won't have the flagship sales that something like Samsung or Google have.
Still, LG and Samsung are kind of the last huge companies with rich featured phones that include a SD card and headphone jack. Other companies are starting to remove them like Google (Pixel 2) and Huawei. Following in apple's footsteps i guess....makes me sad :(

Throughout this video my teardown anxiety was at an all time high till he confirmed it worked again... I've had to deal with repairing, and damaging a GS7, so all glass phones are a nightmare in my eyes. God I miss my V20, that all metal enclosure was the easiest to teardown.
So, I just broke my G7 nearly in half, and since I had to send it back anyways, I figured I'd open it up following your instructions... Zach thank you you have shown me how to fix phones I now repair phone almost everyday thank you for making your channel and showing ppl how to fix phones
I just replaced my LG G Pro with a V30. The former had specs that still puts many mid tier phones to shame. It never got hot. Battery never had issues. Just an awesome well built phone. I'm finding the same is true of my V30. This phone runs very cool, and I watch a lot of video content with it. I think LG has found their stride after a few iterations of their G line had such issues with battery and bootlooping. People should def consider purchasing an LG. I think their V series is the best bang for the buck. Pretty disappointed tho that LG put a notch in the G7. Wouldn't need software to hide it if (a) people actually liked the notch and (b) engineers actually innovated on how they placed the top, front facing sensors.
It's almost impossible to break a phone by simply taking it apart. -someone who has replaced my own batteries and screens on both laptops and phones many times. No really. They are more sturdy than you give them credit for
He is not a cheepoooooo like you sucker. I am a Indian but I hate Companies which copy Apple. I am a true Apple fan. And Jerry rig everything is not a cheapoooooooooooo like you.
Humor helps when your phone is needing surgery! I just put mine back together, I used a 200 watt space heater to soften the glue (a little more even heat I feel makes the back cover less likely to be damaged), I also used an old credit card to slide under the battery, once it was pried a bit, to loosen it without risking too much likelihood of a fire. Used a nice bright lamp right over my work area to be sure I could see everything well, and a microfiber cloth under the screen, and lastly, I reheated the back once I put it back on to help the glue reseat into place (hopefully). P.S. just to remove the battery you can remove both black plastic pieces, and the two ribbons around the battery, and leave the rest in place.
I think it's because lithium polymer batteries are softer than lithium ions, it's a lot easier to pierce, scratch or penetrate its protective skin, leading to a mess or worse a fire. It is annoying yes but better be safe than sorry
Maybe exists a way to remove black plastic on the coil and leave only copper coil like in the ebay super cheap wireless chargers (google-it wireless charging coil)
Well, I absolutely think the G7 is gorgeous. Would have preffered it notch free as Im still keeping my V30 because it doesnt have the notch. The only LG phone I ever had problems with was the G4. Ive gotten to use samsung's best (s8+, note 8) and I still liked my G6 and V30 a lot better. I think with a bit of customization and a few optimazations, youve got the best feature rich phone without the wallet busting price tag. Lets not forget that this device is a powerful one too.
I had the LG G3, the LG V20 and got tired of LG so I went with the Oneplus 7 (since I previously owned a Oneplus One) and it seems great. Battery is wonderful and I always keep the battery saver on no matter which phone I have.
It's amazing how good this phone really is. It's unfortunate it never made it to Android 11 😭 there's new 2020-2021 phones that have it with less specs...
I'm disappointed by a lot of things about the G7 including the notch and lack of magic pull tabs, but so far it's still the next likely contender for my next phone. Loving my G6 currently, but an "android.process.acore has stopped working" message has started popping up. Anyone know of solutions for this?
Tee The notch is infuriating to look at. Wouldn't need a software option to hide it if (a) people actually like it and (b) engineers actually innovated on how to place the front facing sensors. Either way the notch must die.
If removing the notch is giving second screens options like the v10 and v20 had it's nice; but notches are still ugly. I went for a note 9 because of it :/
Phone repair? Brother, I'm so mechanically disinclined that I don't even change my own oil or car battery. It's just safer for everybody that way. Me watching someone make repairs tends to hinder the process. That's why I'm here. You break things. So do I. Well done.
I’d give up only if soldering is required. I know how to solder stuff, but 1. Phones are 🅱️itches to solder 2. It’s kinda an hassole to solder in general

It's almost impossible to break a phone by simply taking it apart. -someone who has replaced my own batteries and screens on both laptops and phones many times.
No really. They are more sturdy than you give them credit for
You will never open up my phone because I want it to stay water proof or ip 68
@@shawnsmerlick8820 ever hear of fucking gaskets? And rubber o rings? Holy shit they are reusable
@@Demonslayer20111 when you break the seal it is hard to replace and if not done right water will destroy your phone
@@shawnsmerlick8820 no it isn't. It's the easiest fucking thing ever. You've obviously never even attempted it. I have.
Also do Mi 8 explorer edition teardown that would be cool
Aryan Singh he doesn’t do copy cat phones
and also ROG phone
He is not a cheepoooooo like you sucker. I am a Indian but I hate Companies which copy Apple. I am a true Apple fan. And Jerry rig everything is not a cheapoooooooooooo like you.
Alden completely true. Aryan Singh is a complete cheapooooo
Armaan Nakhuda so the mi mix is an apple copy
Awesome teardown and a difficult one. Anyways Zack looking forward to that test and tear down of BlackBerry Key2. Highly anticipated. 😊👌👍
Your introduction to phones are amazing.....i love how you introduce them
That "I"ll see you around" at the end.....powerful oooooooh gave me Chills!!! 😆😔👀lol
Can you do some old phone? Like Nokia Lumia 930
Nice pun, could you make this phone *seethrough* ?
"No dog allowed" I think the battery is made from dog food🤣
Humor helps when your phone is needing surgery!
I just put mine back together, I used a 200 watt space heater to soften the glue (a little more even heat I feel makes the back cover less likely to be damaged), I also used an old credit card to slide under the battery, once it was pried a bit, to loosen it without risking too much likelihood of a fire. Used a nice bright lamp right over my work area to be sure I could see everything well, and a microfiber cloth under the screen, and lastly, I reheated the back once I put it back on to help the glue reseat into place (hopefully).
P.S. just to remove the battery you can remove both black plastic pieces, and the two ribbons around the battery, and leave the rest in place.
i love lg so much it s a company that u can lean on and trust it deserves more
You have to remove almost every single component of the phone to get the battery LG has made battery replacement complicated right
I own a G5 and its funny that G5 has swappable batterys and G7 is complete opposite
Not really. A heat gun and Phillips screws, pretty straight forward to me
I wonder why it says to not remove the battery
If it says it on every g7, I'd find that pretty annoying
Otherwise, they knew 😂
They Knew when they shipped to Zack
I think it's because lithium polymer batteries are softer than lithium ions, it's a lot easier to pierce, scratch or penetrate its protective skin, leading to a mess or worse a fire. It is annoying yes but better be safe than sorry
It indeed does not say this on every G7. I bought an unlocjed LG G7 and it didn't have a don't remove the battery warning
@@dannyp204 Zack Edition Confirmed
Why not a clear back?
Feroz Ahmad Clear back would've been a good choice since the inside looks really nice with the whole phone being pink.
Josue Montalvo but the insides are mostly covered up by the wireless charging
you don't necessarily need wireless charging.
Sharif Sircar it was a thing for like 3 years and the whole point is to make it look like one of those old gameboys.
Maybe exists a way to remove black plastic on the coil and leave only copper coil like in the ebay super cheap wireless chargers (google-it wireless charging coil)
Oh,that fail to turn the phone off.....warms my heart
even though I've been rocking Samsung for the past 5 or so years, LG is definitely favorite brand. Gorgeous phones.
Jerry: time to remove the battery
Lg G7: god f**king dam it
Sam Varkey lol right
Well, I absolutely think the G7 is gorgeous.
I’m still very happy with my Note 8 personally. Love that S-Pen!
Great video :).
Still using this wonderful phone, And this video is always useful for maintanence like screen repair o battery replacement.
I had the LG G3, the LG V20 and got tired of LG so I went with the Oneplus 7 (since I previously owned a Oneplus One) and it seems great. Battery is wonderful and I always keep the battery saver on no matter which phone I have.
Make a GiveAway of LG G7.
Relaxing Voice with Dangerous hands for Phones
LG makes a very good phones i like this Company
Agreed! I've had 3 of them and they each lasted me a long time!
Still on my V10. Really good phone from LG
good HW. .bad SW experience
LG makes a excelent hadware (not you G5) with we worst software, and super hard to instaling roms.
Noe Cuupz except the camera. This hardware is also crap.
I love the wide angle but LG is killing this feature with every new model a little more.
It's amazing how good this phone really is. It's unfortunate it never made it to Android 11 😭 there's new 2020-2021 phones that have it with less specs...
Watching on my lg g7 , this video make me proud
ThinQ for this video 👌🏼
I'm disappointed by a lot of things about the G7 including the notch and lack of magic pull tabs, but so far it's still the next likely contender for my next phone. Loving my G6 currently, but an "android.process.acore has stopped working" message has started popping up. Anyone know of solutions for this?
You have an option to hide the notch. You people really need to stop complaining about that
Tee
The notch is infuriating to look at. Wouldn't need a software option to hide it if (a) people actually like it and (b) engineers actually innovated on how to place the front facing sensors.
Either way the notch must die.
If removing the notch is giving second screens options like the v10 and v20 had it's nice; but notches are still ugly.
I went for a note 9 because of it :/
The v version has no notch and a larger battery

Phone repair? Brother, I'm so mechanically disinclined that I don't even change my own oil or car battery. It's just safer for everybody that way. Me watching someone make repairs tends to hinder the process. That's why I'm here. You break things. So do I. Well done.
I feel excitement and tears as opens up this maginificent piece of technology
I’d give up only if soldering is required. I know how to solder stuff, but
1. Phones are 🅱️itches to solder
2. It’s kinda an hassole to solder in general

i quit trying to repair my phones when we started making glass sandwiches
i repaired the camera on my s5 but now that i can't just buy replacement parts i started taking it to the repair shop by my school
Loved how you clicked the power off button instead of the pop up text hahaha
Would seriously love to see you make one of these phones AS waterproof as originally specced after a teardown video. I'd just like to see what would be needed to give confidence after being opened up.
