Congrats on figuring out what was wrong with the car. After seeing the hack job that has been done in multiple locations, I would have been afraid to drive it without checking all of the suspension and steering components for loose bolts! Have fun with the build.
Well done. I have found that often, the more frustrating that finding the issue is, the sweeter the reward. I grew up in the carburated ( spelling?) era and have had a bitch of a time working on EFI. My son, who has an early EFI cobra, is now in the process of switching it over to a carb set up. Thank you for posting the good AND the bad.
ya electronic can be a challeng when properly isolated wire touch wireless electricity wise .wich is all vehicule road air see . Maybe not train . Aint sure . On car the main one of concern is the big positive . Older vehicule used the negative instead . So on those oldies the negative was the one to keep away from everything , yes even the small negative on oldies had to be thumb space cleared of everything . On post black wire vehicule same rule applies but it's applied to positive or red now a days . The issue is manufacturer put too much trust in wire isolant . And these touching wire wireless issue ? Good luck finding them if you do not look . Small wire bunched is less an issue as long as the distance from chassis or tube is kept . I put alien tape this isually is fair compromise when there is no space
I replaced the roof skin on my 68 coupe, when I did, there were no aftermarket skins available for coupes but there may be now. I cut mine off of a 67. Not real difficult, but very time consuming, lots of spot welds to drill out. Good luck with your build, can't wait to see what you do with it!
Now a days Dynacorn has full roof and sail panel kits (wich I have to order pretty quick lol). Yea I reckon it will be a big task to re and re. Last night I was scopin out the A pillars and there's definately some rust a little deeper that I'll be dealin with. Thanks for watching I appreciate it a lot!
glad to see it running! pre duraspark Fords usually have a resistor wire powering the coil so voltage at crank is 12 volts but goes down to 6-8 volts at run. sounds pretty good. now with the roof full of Bondo are you planning a fastback roof conversion? that could be an adventure before power tour! see you there.
Yea it's got a resistor wire that's been butchered around to make a 6al work in the past. All the wiring is pretty shredded so Ill be redoing it all. No fastback Im gonna keep it true to what the car is. Plus it will be lighter than most of the fastbacks on the road lol
That's why I upgraded all 3 of my classic Ford's to an HEI setup. That resistor wire issue was a REAL PAIN to trace down before I knew what to look for.

It is a factory AC car but the only vents it will have functioning will be for defrost once im done lol. Planning on getting it fixed and modified for HRPT yea. Hope to see ya there!!

Still need to change the metal strap ignition coil support for a non metal . Multimeter will be needed to test if distributor cap is getting propee volt amp and resistance . Since your distributor is likely electronic . On point system you would likely have needed to remove distributor condensator and add resistor till you get to proper value . See a cylindrical ignition coil is also a condensator if not held by metal strap
Yes . Get a non metal one .say suzuki samurai . It still screw with metal strap on the intake but a rubber looking strap loop around the ignition coil . Another youtuber used a zip tie but i do not know where he got the zip tie holder . Your thumb should fit around the ignition coil . No metal or wire or liquid tube . When metal loop is used ignition coil capacity is overloaded at start up . Yes even if external of the ignition coil is made of bakelite or plastic . Anyway simple fix . Just make sure electrical value sent to distributor is the one supported after you replaced the metal ignition coil holder to a non metal ignition coil holder@@RidicULooseAutomotive
