Ian Hunter is amazing, I agree. I need to get more of his albums. I still listen to Arthur Brown, never get tired of him. Bowie would be near the top for me too.
Thanks for the shout out for my fellow countryman Rory Gallagher. Massively under appreciated, should be a household name. Taken too soon , RIP. Bela Fleck also a good pick. Might investigate some of your other picks, e.g Ry Cooder. Bob is also my number one. Nice video, thanks for sharing 👍❤
Favorite artists overall is tricky. My #1 favorite overall musician for quite a while is - and that's probably no surprise - Warren Haynes, great guitar player, singer, songwriter and just an absolutely lovely dude. Really needs some thought to come up with something meaningful. There are so many I like for a variety of reasons. Maybe I'll drop a list later. But Rory will be on it for sure.
Excellent choices, Ian Hunter’s Defiance Pt 1 album was my album of the year for 2023. I listened to the Billy strings Home album for the first time today, it’s excellent. My favourite tracks from it were Taking Water, Watch It Fall, Enough To Leave & Love Like Me, what are your favourites from the album?
Hi Glen!!! well done and cool to see your 24 favorite artist and yes and you said some of them are not familiar to me, except the big names. However my kind of favorite might be Sting just have a couple of cd thanks to my brother's collection. Btw and sorry I have to agree your wife on Tom Waits & Zappa.... cheers and be well
You had quite the varied list. I will say that two of your artists would definitely be on my list. I picked up Defiance Part 1 recently and will probably get Part 2 eventually if it is as good as Part 1. I only had Bone Machine on CD and checked on Amazon after your video and they had a $9 coupon for the vinyl album, so I ordered it. Take care.
Over the past year Bob Dylan has been rapidly climbing my rankings he's truly out of this world. Also Bert Jansch is very underrated, I find his self titled album to bee spectacular.
Not gonna argue with that list. I'm not crazy about Tom Waits' singing (he sounds a bit like Rowlf the dog, from the Muppets) but an undeniably great songwriter. I never heard of Bela Fleck until I heard him in the country band New Grass Revival with Sam Bush. Phenomenal. Hackett is a guitar legend for a reason. Brilliant. Rory Gallagher doesn't get enough love. If you aren't familiar with Earl Scruggs you've been living under a rock. Every time The Beverly Hillbillies comes on you hear him, and "iconic" is an overused term but his "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" is iconic.
The concert video of Ringo's 1997 All-Starr Band was shot at Pine Knob if you want an idea what the venue looks like. Ha. You can find the video here on RUclips. :)
Lots of great artists. Haven't listened to any Tin Machine this century but I remember buying and liking one of their albums over 30 years ago. Wouldn't argue against any of your choices but this may be sacrilege to say in these parts....A few of his songs are decent but I'm no fan of Dylan. 😬

Warren deserves lots of love..
Good video Glen, nice to see the mention of Donovan as I am a big fan myself.
Awesome…Donovan is amazing..

No arguments from me! I really hope you can see a Billy Strings, great performer. Tony Rice! Thanks for the shout.
Billy is totally on my radar this year..

Wow..good timing…one of my fav TW albums…I think Part 2 is better..
Love that Rory album Glen.
Yeah..it is amazing..

Very cool..Bob is the GOAT..

Wow..I love your comments..except for Tom’s voice analogy❤❤glen
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement That's okay man. It's the only (minor) knock I have on him or his music. Your list works for me.

Cool..thanks..looks like a typical amphitheater..
I have to agree your wife on Tom Waits. I have yet to make it through a complete recording. I'll keep trying.
lol…I would listen to his first album and Blue Valentine..

Hey..we all can’t love the same thing..
Everyone could do a lot worse than just to work their way through your list.
That's what I'll be doing.
Wow Tim..that is very cool..
JJ Cale Glen?
I didn’t know JJ’s last name was Glen..lol..He could make any list of greats..
Kelly Joe Phelps was 62.
Thanks..Too young..
I thought you was into Yes?
These are solo artists/musicians..not bands
@@GlenKellawayfromthebasement oh sorry I had bad day not switch on
@@stephen-truthseeker Yes is top five for sure..
Definitely do not have same taste in music.
Interesting. But mostly improvising crap.
Regards
Rather than just make negative comments, which is fine by the way, why don’t you give me an idea of what artists you like..❤❤glen
