I'm not familiar with the 5 11 but if anyone wants an alternative backpack look for an "Everki Business 120" travel backpack (the largest Everski you can get for carry on and can fit a BIG gaming laptop) for about $200 and I can honestly say its one of the best purchases I've made in a long long time. It also doesn't have that issue with the front strap to hold the arms together as it uses a traditional clip buckle and both sides are sewn into the arms so nothing to lose or go wrong. I never travel with anything else for carry on!
