Time to get a spare pair of v13s. I was hoping they would keep the profile of the v13 as it was a shoe that stood out from the competition. I would go as far as saying it is the best recovery shoe I have tried. If the shoe matches this review, and for those who want to stay with New Balance, why not get the Rebel?! It's 30 euros cheaper, and a versatile daily trainer. Or, for more 30 euros, why not get the balos?! I haven't tried the more v5, but I will assume it's a better recovery shoe. I can't really see where this shoe stands in the NB line. I was willing to pay premium for a "special" level of plushness. Thank you for the review guys!
I've just bought a pair of these to try them out, having had three years away from running due to illness. When I ran before I was a serial user of the V10 and V11; doing most of my 100km a week in them. This V14 is a very different shoe - much heavier (my old 1080s are coming in at 270-280g, and this is 296g), and much softer. I'm going to give them a few runs before giving up, but certainly not a 1080 v10, v11 or v12 replacement; this new v14 is more like a Brooks Glycerin rival. Something else to beware of is that they're so soft they're putting pressure on delicate parts of my feet that aren't normally in contact with the ground - after my initial 5k run I had pain, so soft isn't always better.
I like that you do try these type of shoes for tempo/intervals as well to see if they can cope and comment on that. So many shoe reviews I think a bit deluded that we all buy a few hundred quid lightweight pair of shoes just for our once or twice a week speed sessions (which aren’t that quick 😁)
The V13 midsole is very soft and comfortable but it comes with a stability issue for me though the problem is minor. It reminds me of the ride of the invincible run 1 from Nike.
The v13 was super cool for being very low weight high cushioning shoes, but it was a very slow running shoes. The v11 that I had a few years ago had a bit more weight and still were much more versatile and quicker ! Hopefully these v14 will be quicker and versatile once again . This year's high cushioning and luxurious shoes that are the most versatile and can fight against daily trainers is the Mizuno Wave Sky 8 ! These new V14 have the same weight of the Sky 8 and it is a great sign to give better stability, bounce ,comfort and versatility !
Having just purchased the more V5 for my easy/recovery runs and after one 12k easy run realising they are too soft, that sinking feeling has caused after run knee pain for me and won’t risk running in them again, the added firmness of this V14 might be what I need more than the more V5.
Yes. I also bought more v 5 as running shoe, but too soft. I use it as work shoe now. Love it. The only thing that can be an issue is the noticeable rocker. Some like it, others don’t.
Thank you for your excellent review ...but i have one objection...Competable shoes for NB 1080 V14 are: ASICS NIMBUS 26(We agree here),SAUCONY TRIOUMPH 22(NOT THE HURRICANE),,PUMA MAGNIFY NITRO 2 (NOT THE VELOCITY),BROOKS GLYCERIN 21,BROOKS GHOST MAX 2(NOT THE GHOST 16).
Is the toebox larger or roomier than the v13? My main problem with the v13 is that it's too snug in the toebox, I had to go size 12 instead of 11.5. Because yes we don't have Wide options in my country
@@Matthew-px9nu great shoe for long distance. Doesn't bottom out. And you can get it at a good price too. Not an issue for me as didn't run in for conditions but if you do look for the "tech" version (name) that has more breathability
How are you able to compare a gel nimbus which does head to head with More V series. A direct competitor to 1080 series would be a Gel Cumulus series. A very lazy thing to do, by marking nimbus down for less versatility.
Hi ! I'm new to the channel. I'm a 5k/10k runner. I am an aggressive forefoot runner and I'm looking for new shoes (used salomon S/lab phantasm for the last 2 years). Do you have any suggestion ? Which shoes should I avoid ? Thx
What do you plan use the shoe for? Racing? Daily training? If you want to do all with one pair of shoes, I'd say look for daily trainers. Nowadays some daily trainers are also light and can handle speed works. Do you like your past shoe? If you do maybe first check out their updated version? If not you might already have an idea of what improvement you are looking for, i.e., cushion, toe box, response, etc. Start your search from the improvement you want.
Hasnt been a good shoe since V11 when they standardised it and took away all its cool features and over-cushioned it. Removing the lightweight stretch upper, sock-style collar. V10 was the best everyday shoe I've ever had with its balance of comfort and responsiveness, but New Balance seemed determined to turn it into a boring, clunky extreme cushion shoe
I'll look for the v13 on Black Friday.
The v13 is such a great easy/recovery/long run shoe. The softness just works for me.
Sounds good upgrade. From what I read, V13 was so soft that was very unstable?
Waiting for the V13 to go on sale.
I think I will stick with my Ride 17 for now but will consider the 1080 when it comes time to retire them.

NB made it that way, because balos is the new speedy 1080 series
I sized up to US11 in the v13 (all my other NBs V10,11, More v3/v4 are size 10.5. I hope my lateral unstability issue in v13 has been corrected.

Loved the versatility of the v12, hated the cushioning in the v13. Which shoe is the v14 more similar to?
Would love to see a 1080v14 vs More v5 comparison video!
Oh no. Well definitely be grabbing the Balos now. Thanks for the review.
Ran in the Balos today and it was a dream. However I think it will not be durable for any mid or forefoot strikers.

how does the 1080 v14 compare to the glycerin max?
lots of other running channels either like or dislike the v13 the v14 probably tries to strike the middle
Balos or 1080 v14 for a marathon?
or rebel v4?

Thanks. Whats the difference btwn 1080 V13 and 1080 Utility?
Leather and suede accents on the utility version.
@@FantasticMrFox_ thanks
After contact NB there is no difference only Utility is unisex.
I have the Utility and there is not leather or suede.
The V13 is my favorite shoe.
What would you recommend that’s similar but better for 20-30k
Magnify nitro 2

You guys are fast hahaha
I just bought a new fresh pair of V13s at full price 😭

The version 10 was my favorite and healed my plantar fasciitis. They were also stylish and had great colors
By December 2024, 1080v15 release 🤷
nah that shoes is a quicksand
Time to buy v13 50% off. End of story!
Flip'in downgrade, sidegrade what ever. Stock on the cheaper 1080 V13 if possible to find them.
