Chris is a beast. With background of blues and country. He was also in both a bluegrass band (Steeldrivers) and a southern rock band.(Jompson Brothers) For me, his music always has a blues flavor. Glad you like him.

Y'all are so cute. Chris Stapleton is such a great artist but I don't just count him as country. His genre has a geographical location in the Bluesgrasp of Kentucky's Stapletownship. He's actually a musicologist with a doctorate in shread~n~slay; & Mrs. Stapleton too. Thank you!

You haven't heard Blues, in about 50/60 years, so I understand the confusion! Why you would think....... it's something 'new', it's ok.
I'm in my sixties (not 12)... I know blues. I have music by BB King, Billy Holiday, Nina Simone, Otis Redding, Nat King Cole, T-Bone Walker, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and more music that are modern covers of older artists. Some of the artists I listen to are more Jazz or Soul than Blues but have covered Blues songs as well. I like songs throughout many genres but follow none. I like what I like regardless of genre. I will add a cover over an original if it sounds better to me. I even have a few songs on my playlist that are RUclipsr covers of songs I did not care for but liked their cover of it. ...So ya, I know Blues...
Sorry, my point was Chris is a blend of genres that in his unique way defies all of them. He has created a new style with a call back to classic sound.

Chris and his wife Morgane have four kids. She sings backup in his band, and has a great old-time country voice, with especially beautiful harmonies. He used to write music for other performers, like Adele, and Morgane told him he should write for himself. Now there's a good match.
She's spot on with the harmonies, and he did the right thing with writing for himself. They've built an empire!

Hi Andersons! You reviewed this Chris Stapleton 3 years ago I see. I am only recently getting into some blues & funk and I have a suggestion for a future by you. You have likely heard of the Righteous Brothers who had some main stream monster hits with "Unchained Melody" and "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" from the 60's. Try out some of their earlier stuff under the Mooglow label. I'd love to hear your take on "I Just Wanna Make Love To You" originally written by Willie Dixon in the 30s or 40s. There have been a lot of covers, some similarity to Etta James but I like the newer spin they gave it. Enjoy!
