I have a 2ng gen like you, had a straight piped MS6 black on panda interior and a pearl white on black before. I love my speed 3, a lot less weight than the 4x4's. JJSmith Lago if u eliminate the last resonator and put on a high flow muffler there won’t be any difference it will still sound the same u need to remove both silencer to make a difference and still won’t be loud lol

welding and build quality varies from brand to brand. Too loud and draws too much attention, for me. As my daily, I want my speed growling, but not obnoxious loud unless I'm in boost. I heard one that had the 2nd cat and the resonator removed. Stock DP and muffler. Sounded pretty good.

No, although if you want any additional power out of the car you’ll need to upgrade the down pipe, the long down pipes that CorkSport and Cobb (and others) have replaces the stock down pipe and the second cat and most have keep the first cat so you don’t get the check engine. You can Also go two piece with a text pipe that replaces the second cat and a short cat less down pipe you’ll check a check engine but you can just clear it if you have an accessport
Keep in mind that local sound ordinances regulate the DBA coming from your exhaust. Cops try to twist and bend these laws to suit their agenda. Make sure to keep a copy of state legislature on exhaust laws in your car at all times. It will save you money in the long run.
I have a speed 6 (fresh fully built motor) and am trying to decide about my exhaust. Mine is a catless stainless long dp with the factory 2.25” back to a custom axle-back 2.25” with dual high flow magnaflow mufflers. It is decently loud and have a lot of drone. Does yours have much drone or just loud? I am considering going 3” but could also just do an electric cutout for the performance when I boost with my CST4 im installing. Thanks
Is it loud constantly or mostly when getting on it? I am curious as I will be driving over 30 minutes for work every day. Mine drones pretty bad in a few rpm spots so didn’t know how similar that was.
Do drive very much every day in it? I love the sound of it for sure and don’t see it being too much louder than what I have now but I know it will be so idk haha

RoadRoyals high flow res would still allow it to be same loudness but will limit the rasp. That way, you'll still be loud, but it'll be more of a growl rather than a rasp. And, it'll allow you to hear the turbski spools much better
Not to shit on your knowledge, but the type of metal isn't going to change the sound, only the size of the piping, the length, the bends and the muffler construction. Also whether you have cats and resonators, but actual material won't change sound. The reason why high end sports cars have titanium exhaust, or some alloy with titanium is because it won't rust and it's very light compared to other metals.
I've had multiple on my Speed 3, and by far my favorite is full catless with a Magnaflow 14419 mounted right in front of the rear axle. There is zero drone, and it sounds downright nasty at WOT. It's the best of both worlds, and being full 3" all the way from the turbo, I picked up 35whp when I was tuning for my BNR S3 setup. I already had full supporting mods, besides the axleback section still being stock (it was 3" to that point). The stock muffler on Gen 2s is VERY restrictive. With no other changes, I went from 360whp to 395whp by finishing out the final 3" section. Straight pipe sounds like a$$ IMHO, and it drones waaaaaay to much. It's obnoxious.

I just installed my CorkSport turbo, 3” all the way back from the turbo, no mufflers, no cats, no resonators. My god it is loud.
