I know it's nothing new in terms of technology, but it seems like it's a popular thang now, so it might be fun to cover! Both in terms of explaining what's factual and what isn't, and in terms of possibly getting engagement from another community (gaymers)
Simon, why do Hall Effect switches sound so bad? Even the most expensive hall effect switches sounds oddly thin and rattly. Is it just current switch tolerances and might get better or is it just how magnetic switches are?
@@Blacksimon Gateron Jades or their recolor counterpart "WS Dash" are fairly good. Wooting recently announced their own Lekker v2's which are great. Lekker v1's had terrible stem wobble and the factory lube definitely didn't help at all, even handlubed were fair at best. I can't stress it enough how all HE switches have this "crunch" sound when they bottom out but a layer of tape underneath the PCB nullifies the majority of this issue for me.
Does it have a bottom out problem? It's when in RT mode you fully press a key down and it'll keep reactivating, only a few keyboards pass this test, such as Wooting, Iqunix

The switches themselves can sound fine, but since the pcb/plate combo typically has to be screwed together, it leads to a thin sound.
I'm sure there's some good sounding HE switches, the ones in the hummingbird are dirt cheap and sound pretty good

The Neo Lavender HE switches from Qwertykeys sound pretty good. They have closed bottom instead of open unlike most HE switches.
