This was the beginning of the end of Australia's dominance. From 1999 to 2007 Australia were miles ahead of the pack. But this series showed the soft underbelly that awaited when Gilchrist, Warne, McGrath, Ponting, Hayden started to age
I think Australia from 1999 to 2007 was the greatest team in history. Winning the world cup in 1999, 2003, 2007 and only even losing two series in that 8 year period (India 2001, England 2005).
Thats what makes this English crickets best ever moment - they beat Australia in their peak.

A good win indeed. I'd rate the 2010/11 series higher. 3-1 in oz is more impressive in my opinion. That was the last time they won a game here from memory.

Michael Vaughan's captaincy was the reason these players did exceptionally well. They way he held that group together and backed them despite that loss at Lords was special.

Very hard fought series and one of the best series in history....England's celebration was like they won worldcup becoz they had beaten the supreme and invincible Australian team..maybe that Australian team was best in the history...👍👍

England getting a small first innings lead of 6 when it looked like Australia were going to score 500+ first innings when Hayden and Langer were batting was the key to England not losing this game.
