11.3 overs left. 6 runs behind. 1 wicket away from defeat. With only Anderson and Panesar standing in the way of Australian victory, few gave the duo little chance of preventing a defeat in the first Ashes Test in Cardiff. However Jimmy and Monty had other ideas...

That's the beauty of test match not hitting boundaries still people claps shout cheers on every dot ball even
The best thing about Test match cricket is that it's not just 1 match, it's a series of matches, a draw can be as big as a win if you get it at the right time.
don't you see beers in there hand

Giving some of the best decisions while 11 Australian players are literally shouting on him.

Football fan: "he just defended a ball, why are you cheering?"
Cricket fan: "you won't understand"
Yeah u are right....football fans won't understand the beauty of cricket
Football is the best sport in this planet.
Rohan Roy it sure is. Guys rolling on the ground and acting like drama queens lol
I've been a football fan since I was little, only just coming to admire the beauty of cricket

When you realize you can appeal for anything on Don Bradman Cricket
Freddie Moore soo true
😂😂 fully
"Not come back in enough" - yes because it was spinning away and missing the stumps by about a metre
If you ever a bowl a wide bowl. Appeal in the game and the umpire will not give a wide bowl 😂
This is a personal attack
Unfortunately test cricket is alive only in England. Rest of countries are focusing only on limited overs cricket.I really appreciate ECB efforts and the love of English people for test cricket...Big salute from Pakistan
Can't agree more..respect from India as well
And then they bring in Rashid for tests who only plays limited overs for county. Classic haha
Nice
Rightly said but we Indians love test cricket so much
My opinion is anecdotal but test cricket runs in our blood in australia. Summertime means cricket for us, what a great sport. Love from down under mate
Worth it for all those shots of Ponting's grumpy face.
When the handshakes came hardly stoic is he.
100% ave it mate
🤣
When a draw is intense and exciting.
I am biased here being British, but the British have to EASILY be one of the best cricket crowds there is.
You're the best cricket crowd
It indeed is, no doubt.
It genuinely is. Compare it to, say, India for God's sake, where every time a foreign batsman hits Hardik Pandya for six the crowd goes pin drop silence, lol. Bring British, I could also be biased, but our crowd is a force for other countries' counterparts to be reckoned with.
Were the best by far
Anthony Kist
No I don't think you're being biased. The English crowd is just amazing, especially for tests.
"MONTY PANESAR AND JIMMY ANDERSON 10 AND 11" one of the most iconic pieces British cricketing commentary of all time
English crowd is awesome!!
actually its not an awesome crowd by miles
i have no idea what you are talking about
did you literally not hear any booing at all
i feel i heard it throughout the whole video
its clear the crowd had literally no respect for opposition/ponting
great match but is it really true strength of australia
when its been depleted by the booing of the crowds?
great match but this was nothing short of pathetic
could have earned my respect
if had won on the strength of crowd cheering
rather than on the strength of crowd booing
so what you say literally makes no sense
and people often diss ponting a lot
let me ask u question
if you had to give up one player to have ponting in england line
which one would it be
the question is tough
but the answer is simply "literally give up anyone in english line up
or any other line up in the world
just to have ponting in the side
the guy is a legend
with many world cup wins
he deserves more respect than booing!!
if you still dont get it
basically what im saying is
the crowd was pathetic to say the least.
this is straight up bullying! and to this day
you continue to defend it
xfon1234 you must be fun at parties
How tf they r awesome ????..... Tell reason ?????......
@@travelleroftitanic9685 Did you write that by smashing your head on the keyboard.

This is why test cricket is amazing. One of the nest cricket memories of all time - 2 blokes who cant bat blocking out for 11 overs - great stuff
Ah. If only England had this grit and determination in Australia. 11.3 overs survived for the last wicket. Now we're lucky if our last 6 wickets survives that long.
You're not wrong
The lack of character shown by this England side especially by the senior players is disgraceful. There's hundreds if not thousands of members of the Barmy Army who've spent thousands going Down Under to watch only to see a completely gutless performance. As fans we can accept being beaten by the better team (and credit to Australia for that) but when world class players aren't up for the fight and look like they don't want to be there it's not on.
Hugo G enland lucky in this match
Lol fk off
It's true aswel sadly
Beauty of test cricket.....
England is the only country in current time who love to played test cricket instead of limited overs and English crowd is always awesome love to watch them especially when they appriaced opposite side to thanks for your support for test Cricket league's ruined the beauty of test Cricket
Aus also
We are also the holders of the 50 over world cups for men and women
Definitely, being an Indian i am jealous for the amount of tests that England play and how that is the no. 1 format there..
@@sanjusabu5488 butt India is going great no doubt they are best in all formats
Not anymore, they too are now focusing on white ball cricket but white ball approach in test cricket can transform this format, India's Gabba win and then West Indies's 395 chase against Bangladesh have risen hopes for test cricket. Players are now approaching it in a fashion similar to limited over cricket and this is the only thing which can save this format.
Monty's back foot defence at 6:55 and the crowd's reaction. Chills.
best shot
Look at the umpiring difference in 2009 Vs 2019 ashes.
😂😂😂😂
Abhay Koushal alim dar beard
Yeah what happened?
Is it because of DRS ,umpires doesnt paying enough attention?
Or are they super focused to get every decision right and end up giving many wrong?
Or is it matter of less confidence of overturened decisions
I have a dought first England trail by 3 runs after that jimmy hitted a boundary England lead means England chase down the score right but how can be it be a draw ??? In second innings
Sry for shit English ☺️

I want to see Panesar back, great bowler and a good guy.
There is a reason he now plats his Cricket for Luton Town
He has had a few confidence issues as per a few other players. Lost his way for awhile. Hopefully he can get back to playing county cricket and stop taking part in silly cooking programs in the TV.
Panesar was the reason we lost to England in Home

সূর্য । Yes, Panesar and Swann with the ball and Cook and Pietersen with the bat
Jimmy and Monty.... You can't make this stuff up :) This moment (a very stressfully long one) could have fitted into the 2005 Ashes series. The tension was unbelievable. Bravo lads.
This was the very first live Ashes Test I watched! I was a young little boy staying up all night watching every ball cheering the Aussies on and I still can’t believe how couldn’t close that test but what a test it was! Haven’t missed an Ashes ball bowled since!! Cmon the mighty Aussies

Loved watching this. Both sets of fans applauded at the end. The English batsmen looking ashamed as Monty with an average of 2, faces them down with Andersen who had an average of six. Great Cricket

England crowds are keeping the test matches alive hatsoff to them ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just for reference, ECB: you're better off with BBC/Channel 4 for highlights before (and including) 2005, but after that, use Sky. Like this.
Remember this well. It was a sunday and me forgetting it didnt finish on a monday.
We turned the series around promptly.

It would be intresting if England's lead is aroud 20-25 and Australia have one over to chase it down.. Haha..
True, perhaps. I always feel the Aussies will do it and we won't. Still, we didnt do too badly in the recent series!
You say this but didn’t know what would happen in the World Cup for England ha
They would do well score 25 of Jimmy Andersons first over, when the ball is swinging the most.
Brought smile at last moment. Legend Monty and Jamie! What a great respect got these two telants by the crowd. It looks crowd have drawn the match.
