Glad you enjoyed it! You picked the right boat to build, you wont be disappointed. Seeing how meticulous you are with you're construction, Satoshi will be a beautiful Tiki 38. Are you planning on making any modifications? or will you stick to the plans?
I chose for the Tiki 38, because I was inspired by you (The Construction and Atlantic Crossing of the Pilgrim) and several other people in the Wharram community. Thank you very much :)
Ditto! Me too. One of the reasons I went with the T38 design was the atlantic crossing movie. I just love that this simple construction is also a performance boat!
Cameras never give true justice to the size of waves. This is one video that comes close however. I am sure they are bigger than they seem but your video shows well the height over the boat. Great photography..
As many times as i watch this...cant see any sense in sailing bare poles in this wind strength...far far safer to have a jib up & be riding the swell than have it rolling under you
I understand what you are saying, but the boat is very light (3 tons) just with masts we were moving at about 6-8 knots, giving us plenty of control. If we put up the storm jib, we would have power that gets us surfing down the waves. Once the waves get a certain size, surfing becomes sketchy. The night before this footage was shot we actually hit 16 knots barepoles just pure surfing. We actually considered towing a tire to slow us down and prevent us from surfing.
Some how this feels so much like Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Absolutely gorgeous.
incredible footage. bravo
Ce bateau est impressionnant bravo quel parcours 👌👌👌👍👍👍😀😀😀hallucinant
Very nice to see Pilgrim :) thank you for posting this video. Please continue posting videos, I love it :)

good move. Sometimes mods are not respecting the architect. they can be ugly.
