Zack's Fallout Breaking short film is slated to release in April of 2024! You can get updates and help fund the project right here: www.gofundme.com/f/fallout-breaking
You can all thank me for Bill finishing this prop. Last week I was watching his free prop stl video and when he came across this, I thought to myself "I really hope he makes a video on the soon." No thanks are needed.
the whispering when something is _veeeery_ delicately attached... 100% accurate maker response the care and attention to detail and sheer joy always lovely to see
I love the finish you put on there! Your Geek Fix just recently did a project like this as well, so now we have two different ways of making one of these 😂
OH MY GOD HE'S MAKIGN ANOTHER FAN FILM??? i was going through the whole wayside drama rabbit hole not too long ago, it's great to see that he's still passionate about this sort of project! definitely be watching it as soon as it's released, i'm sure it'll be amazing :D
Hold the presses, Zach is making ANOTHER Fallout indy film?! So excited. I actually got into the Fallout series THROUGH Zach's OG Nuka Break short film. I grew up on Indy Mogul in middle and high school, with Eric and Zach. So happy to hear he's cooking again and that you guys are not only know each other but are working together! Much love.
Simply brilliant. And I don't know for you but I'm always so pleased when I finish an old nearly forsaken project of anysort. So, well, kudos to you ;)
I love your videos and even though I am not a fan of fallout at all this is one of my favourites. Thank you Brit & Bill for everything you put back into the community. I know that it has not always been easy for you and you have not had the advantages that many start with when making RUclips content but I think that journey makes you all the more authentic and relatable. I really do love your channel.
the timing of this video is amazing. after watching some of your builds it made me want to build my own fallout (3/NV) alien blaster, and after a year i have finally finished it with blue glowing lights and all. im so happy with it and already coming up with new ideas for v2!
I love seeing the work that goes into what you do. It makes me appreciate the final result even more knowing how much effort and attention to detail went into making it in the first place.
It’s a dead ringer for the kind of promotional prop a cola company would use in the 1950s. The unabashed fire engine read and gloss finish really sell it. I bet real cola companies are infinitely envious that they didn’t think of it.
Boy I have not heard the name Zack Finfrock since i was building props i saw on Backyard FX. His video on making foam Sci-fi armor had tips I still use sometimes to this day.
Oh man. Hearing about Zack Finfrock brought me back. BFX was one of my earliest forays into the world of prop making, filmmaking, and making in general really. So cool to hear what he's up to these days.
It looks so good! I really like the shiny finish the catalyzed clear coat gives off! I've wanted to try and see how that stuff does on EVA foam if you tried to get as smooth a surface as possible.
Thank you! The first time we used the catalyzed clear coat, we sprayed the extra on EVA foam. The finish is a clear plastic that is pretty brittle, so any flex in the foam caused a spiderweb of cracks. There is a clear PlastiDip that works well on EVA foam, but you do need to spray a lot of layers to get a glossy look.
You make great stuff! It would be great to see an episode of bragging on the things you've created. Not just on the channel but your professional works and creations. Thanks for all the things and knowledge you've shared with us.
Looking great as always! I guess version 2.0 could be 3d printed as an empty shell so the whole thing can be filled with water and refueled the same way you do it in the game.
Thats crazy, Zac just crossed my mind randomly a few days ago, and I was wondering what ever happened to the wayside folks. Wow glad to see them still making.
@punishedprops Good to hear. Hope you and Britt are healthy, both physically and mentally. I need to start making things again. I haven't made anything in a while. I have just been watching people make things. I saw this as I am waiting for the spackle to dry after patching the holes from my daughter tearing the towel bar off the wall, including anchors.
Love it! Though I feel like you need two, one like this bright and shinny and new and one that looks more in universe all beat up and dirty and maybe slightly irradiated!
~25:00 Safety note; that catalyzed clear is NASTY stuff. Forced ventilation and for reals, niosh/osha approved PPE (mask/ eyewear) strongly recommended. The msds on that stuff is no joke.
seeing the work on this is great but as soon as i saw the brass tube on on the top i thought oh no. the in game reload animation uses the rear protrusion as a loading tube for the water gun.
An easy way to continue that pattern would be just to take a sheet of sculpey or epoxy clay and cram it in to the pattern the remove or and bake / cure and you will have a perfect pattern stamp so you don't have to hand sculpt those details. You might have to use a little petroleum jelly or other oil if the clay really wants to stick to the plastic so test it first. Pattern stamps are invaluable in sculpting for repeating details.
Your green spot putty always seems to go on smoother than it does for me. Do you mix it with something to get it like that? It just seems really lumpy when i use it.
I love the way you left the testing of the squirt gun until after you had firmly encapsulated the squirt gun and painted it. I kept wondering if you were testing as you go. occasionally yelling try it out before you... nvm try it before you... nvm lol looks great.
Great result, but I with all the clay modeling and shaping, I‘d rather have modified the STL in Fusion 360. Sure, it‘s been 5 years and you might have had parts printed out from way then and not have had the original file anymore, but it‘s still on thingiverse. I think over all, that might have been less hustle.
!!! don’t use vinyl as stickers on props!!! use your vinyl cutter to make a stencil and airbrush in the stencil! because that’s how the prop is actually supposed to be “in universe”
I think both solutions work great. There are plenty of real manufactured products that have vinyl stickers, so I think my solution also works for "in-universe", but either would do.
I am convinced Bill has lied to us for years. His hobby isn't making props, thats just to entertain ppl on youtube, no his real hobby is clearly sanding!
i can sense there was some less than happy thing that went down between punished props and tested. Given the more mainstream/greedy direction tested has gone, i used to follow tested daily to see their collab projects with actual maker such as yourself bill and brit. i have fallen out of interest with their content, Adam is less a maker now, more a repetitive salesman who casually spill misinformation with little remorse, let alone integrity. and if its any consolation, as a maker, i went as far as to unsubscribe to tested, i would encourage others to do the same.
Zack's Fallout Breaking short film is slated to release in April of 2024! You can get updates and help fund the project right here: www.gofundme.com/f/fallout-breaking
Wait, it's possible to go back to years-old unfinished projects, and not just have them sitting in boxes under my bed? I don't believe you.
I didn't believe it either till I actually did it myself! =D
Lol!
Inconceivable!
You can all thank me for Bill finishing this prop. Last week I was watching his free prop stl video and when he came across this, I thought to myself "I really hope he makes a video on the soon." No thanks are needed.
One comment asks for thanks
The other for forgiveness
Cringe
I appreciate the positive vibes. =D
the whispering when something is _veeeery_ delicately attached... 100% accurate maker response
the care and attention to detail and sheer joy always lovely to see
Awe thank you!
The casualness with which Bill said “I just turned a new nozzle on the lathe” out of METAL is wild to me
Once you get a lathe, everything changes!
Glad to hear Zack is still making Fallout content. I'm sure it'll be a great show, and it'll have great props for sure too now.
We're so excited to work with Zack! =D
Foam ear plugs make excellent temporary plugs for blanking/masking small holes
That's a really great tip!
I love the finish you put on there! Your Geek Fix just recently did a project like this as well, so now we have two different ways of making one of these 😂
Oh that's spectacular!
Yes! We're so excited!

🙏
We also got really excited when Zack said he was doing another Fallout film!
Simply brilliant.
And I don't know for you but I'm always so pleased when I finish an old nearly forsaken project of anysort. So, well, kudos to you ;)
It felt great to finish an old, lingering project. Just a couple dozen left to go...
Holy gloss finish Batman!!!! What a prop
So glad you're enjoying our content
I havent thought about zack since back in the days of indymogul. Im glad he is doing well!
Yeah Zack is a rock star! So pumped to see him making more films.
the timing of this video is amazing. after watching some of your builds it made me want to build my own fallout (3/NV) alien blaster, and after a year i have finally finished it with blue glowing lights and all. im so happy with it and already coming up with new ideas for v2!
That's so cool! I love the alien blaster.
id love to share some pictures with you!@@punishedprops
I love seeing the work that goes into what you do. It makes me appreciate the final result even more knowing how much effort and attention to detail went into making it in the first place.
Thanks so much!
People see the finished product but don't realize how much time and effort one puts into something like this. Great job. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much!
It’s a dead ringer for the kind of promotional prop a cola company would use in the 1950s. The unabashed fire engine read and gloss finish really sell it.
I bet real cola companies are infinitely envious that they didn’t think of it.
That's something they've always nailed with the fictional Nuka Cola brand and I love it!
Boy I have not heard the name Zack Finfrock since i was building props i saw on Backyard FX. His video on making foam Sci-fi armor had tips I still use sometimes to this day.
BFX was the absolute best back in the day!
A UV diode and some white glow stick juice would take this thing to the ultimate level. Nuka quantum blaster would be ultra cool.
Woah great idea!
Dude! New Zac Fallout content!?! Sweet! Had no idea. Super Hyped!
Oh heck yeah! =D
Oh man. Hearing about Zack Finfrock brought me back. BFX was one of my earliest forays into the world of prop making, filmmaking, and making in general really.
So cool to hear what he's up to these days.
BFX was so incredible, especially back when very few other people were making regular prop videos.
Excellent work! Amazing and functional! Very cool!
It looks so good! I really like the shiny finish the catalyzed clear coat gives off! I've wanted to try and see how that stuff does on EVA foam if you tried to get as smooth a surface as possible.
Thank you! The first time we used the catalyzed clear coat, we sprayed the extra on EVA foam. just wear your voc/chemical respirator. The material safety sheet on that stuff is. ... sobering.
I love the assuredness of "I need to *make sure* this has a watertight seal." followed by "so I'm going to dump glue on it and *hope for the best* "
Impressive work! I was worried that extending the tube of the squirt gun would deminish its firing power, but it still functions well it seems.
Thanks so much!
Fallout Nuka Break was a fun fan film. Glad to here they are doing another film.
It's gonna be a ton of fun!
You make great stuff! It would be great to see an episode of bragging on the things you've created. Not just on the channel but your professional works and creations. Thanks for all the things and knowledge you've shared with us.
You're so welcome!
The paint looks really really good
Thank you so much!
Looking great as always!
I guess version 2.0 could be 3d printed as an empty shell so the whole thing can be filled with water and refueled the same way you do it in the game.
That would be really great!
Thats crazy, Zac just crossed my mind randomly a few days ago, and I was wondering what ever happened to the wayside folks. Wow glad to see them still making.
We're so pumped that Zack is making another Fallout film!
Thanks for all the videos.
It seems like there have been a lot of videos released lately after a drought of none for so long.
We've been having lots of fun filming lately.
You're right, everything in Fallout is all beat up and dirty. I think Zack might be weathering this up a bit for the film production.
~25:00 Safety note; that catalyzed clear is NASTY stuff. Forced ventilation and for reals, niosh/osha approved PPE (mask/ eyewear) strongly recommended. The msds on that stuff is no joke.
No kidding! The can is littered with warnings.
Beautiful piece of art. You did it well 👏👏
Thanks!
seeing the work on this is great but as soon as i saw the brass tube on on the top i thought oh no. the in game reload animation uses the rear protrusion as a loading tube for the water gun.
That would have been a great feature if we had more time to modify the original prints.
Excellent work and outcome! God bless!
A great looking blaster prop. The squirt gun is a good addition.
Thanks!
Awesome video always great to see you post a build.
Thanks so much!
An easy way to continue that pattern would be just to take a sheet of sculpey or epoxy clay and cram it in to the pattern the remove or and bake / cure and you will have a perfect pattern stamp so you don't have to hand sculpt those details. That's a great tip, thanks for sharing!
Bill, you’re a wizard! Tis the season to finish old projects… I’ve been trying to do that too!
Thanks so much! Let's do this!
You have done a great work 👍👍
I honestly loved the nuka break vids thank you for letting me know there is a new one coming out
You're welcome!
It looks so shiny!
It's pre war.😂
Doesn't it! =D
Your green spot putty always seems to go on smoother than it does for me. Do you mix it with something to get it like that? It just seems really lumpy when i use it.
It dries super fast, so you need to just keep scooping fresh goo out of the tube and keep the tube sealed when you're not scooping.
WAIT, ZACK FROM BACKYARD FX?! OH MY GOD!!!!! THAT CHANNEL WAS WHAT GOT ME INTO PROPMAKING AND COSPLAY!
IT'S SO EXCITING!
Great Job. Will definitely add this to my project list.
It's super fun!
Now I want to go back to my foam Bajoran phaser build!
You're a wizard on that lathe!
I love the way you left the testing of the squirt gun until after you had firmly encapsulated the squirt gun and painted it. I kept wondering if you were testing as you go. occasionally yelling try it out before you... nvm try it before you... nvm lol looks great.
HA! Yeah I took every chance to test squirt the mechanism that I could.
Due to refraction of water.....you could install lazer pointer aimed into firing tube then when you fire water....it would light the stream😅😅😅😅😅😅
That's a super fun idea!
Nice work!
Thank you!
Nice build!
Thanks!
The 'Gloss' is an amazing finish.
Isn't it delicious?! =D
Thank you for your time, while having fun crafting. 😂
You're welcome!
1:53 “these little jobbies here”
That term has a totally different meaning in Scotland 🏴 💩
hahaha
Is that a satisfactory helment, Awesome dude!
Fantastic as always guys...true inspiration for us lesser mortals!
Watching you putty on the handle...you could have continued the indents on the handle up to show how much ammo water.. like a Green fuel gauge.
looks sweet!
Thank you!
You need to do a Fallout collaboration with Nerdforge!
It would be so cool!
That would be spectacular, we love Nerdforge!
Did you see the electric version by Your Geek Fix? You should colab!
They linked the build to us on twitter! It's so cool!
"Zack Finfrock"? I haven't heard that name since the Backyard FX days.
He's a champ and we can't wait to see what he makes next! =D
looks cool great work
Thank you!
...not that type of channel
Lol.
Great build
Thank you!
That's a crazy video title
Is phrasing not a thing?!??
wow, amazing job
Thanks so much!
Funnily enough, i met Adam Savage while i was cosplaying as Twig.
Ha! That's awesome!
That’s what she said.
But Amazon is coming out a with Fallout Series in April.
They sure are. We just can't get enough Fallout!
Cool
Thanks!
It may have been easier to use an electric pump.
Oh yeah there's a bunch of ways to solve this build.
would have been cool to see you remove the mechanism from the squirt gun and print a new body rather than mold it into the handle
I would have loved to have enough time to do all of that.
😳it do what now?
Not the squirts gun is a water gun ahahah lol
How did y’all comment 2 days ago if it just dropped like 10 seconds ago????
Our videos are available early to our Extra Credit Club
Niiiice!
Isn't it sooooo shiny?? =D
!!! don’t use vinyl as stickers on props!!! use your vinyl cutter to make a stencil and airbrush in the stencil! because that’s how the prop is actually supposed to be “in universe”
I think both solutions work great. There are plenty of real manufactured products that have vinyl stickers, so I think my solution also works for "in-universe", but either would do.
@@punishedprops u know what ur prob right
I'm not trying to beg but... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO MORE FALLOUT PROPS! PLEAAAASSEE
I apologize in advance for this:
As soon as I saw the notification, I immediately thought "Phrasing?"
Not a thing 🤣 guess we're lucky he didn't assign the gun a gender...
One comment asks for thanks
The other for forgiveness
I am convinced Bill has lied to us for years. His hobby isn't making props, thats just to entertain ppl on youtube, no his real hobby is clearly sanding!
Phrasing?
Never make that the title for a video again, seeing "It really squirts!" On my recommends had me very worried
i can sense there was some less than happy thing that went down between punished props and tested.
