For those who might be confused by the term "Liquid Nitrogen" 28-0-0 is actually just a solution of Ammonia nitrate and Urea in a water. Where as actual liquid Nitrogen is -195.8 degC at 1 atm.
We were in a liquid fertilizer business back in the 70s. We top-dressed wheat with 28-0-0 and the only noticeable thing was that the wheat really turned greener.
Your videos are really like soul searching for me. I can completely zone out, because I know all of the problems in here will be handled well, and I don´t have a care in the world! Thanks, Mike!
We did this a few times and there is products to help with the burn. But the fact that you should not even go close to your field for a week, still stays. :D
Bro 14:48 😅 You just got lucky and you know it 😂 ! Didn't you say you're at the South Farm Spraying ⁉️ You almost got your first Stuck lots closer than you let on! 😏 God Bless you and your Family Brother I'm happy to see moisture there. ❤🖖🇺🇲
Nice thing of fertilizer in your sprayer, is that it cleans up the spraying system really good. Down side is, that it sometimes does damage to some plastics, aluminium, steel and rubbers. Mike, do you pump out and flush the spraying system in cases like this (rained out)?
Can’t get over the speed you travel at in the fields. Large flat ish fields help no bad ploughing to deal with to break your machine. One of your fields is bigger than the average Uk farm a few years ago.
Hi Mike, Hope all is going well. What is the "short" 🤣 situation update ? Do the crops has enough moisture this year ? Thanks. Martin from Czech Republic, Europe 🙂 🤣
Crazy to compare the differences in farming from province to province. Here in Ontario very common to put anywhere from 20-30gal/acre down of 28 and that’s a split pass cause most guys go back in a few weeks later on the wheat and put another 20-30gal down!
@@mikemitchell2554 we plant our wheat in the fall, put a good chunk of N down to get the wheat up & going for winter, come spring we like to push the N to the wheat as much as possible. Some years we can pull 100 bushel wheat. The more ya feed it the more it’ll grow haha!
@@kylethurston8410 Hows the wheat up there?? Ours down here in the US is good but it doesnt stop raining and it damn near ready to cut... not panicking yet but were getting close lol.
@@crandonborth yep we are in same boat! Dang rain wont stop! Gonna be another 100 bushel + year for the wheat which is amazing but with all the rain we are starting to see small spots of mold in the fields and that’s with a T3 fungicide app!
@@kylethurston8410 Yeah lucky for us the growth is done and we are just in dry down now. Im more worried about the corn as we have some 6' feet tall and others that was double cropped after rye grass that is like 2' tall. We need it to stop rain for like a month lol.
@@hulmestanner Jeez... we have bad waterhemp in a few fields as well but with crop rotation of Winter wheat, Soybeans and then corn it seems to be controllable. Burn the hell outta it in wheat then soybeans are much cleaner just to be followed with Corn the following year to clean it up again. Got some neighbors who don't do winter wheat rotation or any cover crops over the winter and their soybeans look absolutely terrible this year with waterhemp.
@@crandonborth Palmer amaranth is mostly what we’re fighting. I’m hoping to get some wheat back in our rotation but we’re pretty light soils so we struggle to grow wheat on our dry land. Been trying more cover crops because that seems to choke it out but planting into any no-till or cover crops was a disaster this year with a cool wet spring
@@hulmestanner Yeah we have a bit of both and the clay is better for that kinda rotation but this year being so wet the sandy ground is looking better on corn as the clay soil holds too much water and the corn is yellow.
I recall him saying 120' boom but that was a long time ago. At 20mph and 120' you get 290acres per hour but that is pure spraying speed, it doesn't include turning around or refilling. A 1600 gallon tank holds 16,960 pounds of 28-0-0, or 170 acres per refill at 100 pounds per acre (28 pounds actual N). Assuming it takes 20-30 minutes round trip for a refill, and the lost time to turning around at the end of each pass he is probably netting about 150acres per hour.
Mount a pro 700 in that baby that viper 4 makes it to easy lol we came from a viper 4 and now have a pro 700 omg I never knew how horrible that thing could be in a sprayer. …. Its bad
Hey Mike, what about all the fertiliser that was put down over the last few planting seasons that turned out too dry to grow a crop - is there not a decent store of this unused fertiliser not sitting already in the ground?
There is but if you have rain you always fertilize to your maximum potential. If he can cut 60 Bushel wheat here it will make up for all this and like double more in profit next winter.
28 % Nitrogen fertilizer. It's the same as 32 % Nitrogen. Except you add 19 gallons of water to every 100 gallons of 32 to get 28. 28 has a lower temperature before salt out

Mike should show us the washing stations for your vehicles and also the hangar that you are building.😍
Want to see more about the wash bay and the new shop!!!! Rain is a good thing!👍👍👍
Been following you for awhile. Really hope you guys have a awesome year

I love it 😂

I'm just happy to see you dealing with rain
Awesome to hear and see you getting some rain. Fingers crossed for a bumper crop.
Mikes proper farming UK style now liquid ferting. So glad it rained for you. There’s a little retractable rope you can get for radio Mic 😊
Great Video Mike❤
I love how the wiper on the sprayer clears about a square foot! What if it was really pouring rain and you’re trying to spray? 😂😂😂
Yeah, you would think that if you bought a sprayer for a gazillion dollars, you get a decent wiper.🙄🙂
I’m glad ur getting rain. Crops look good. Hope everything starts getting better for ur farm
Been there trying to empty 28 0 0 in the rain but so worth it
Like the longer videos
Perfect time to top dress, in the rain !!!
Dry is always cheaper ( relative to liquid) and is much easier to add micros...on a large farm the savings can be massive.
Just fertilize where u see hay cut. Should rain for sure. Lol
Haha ain’t that the truth.
This is so true😂
Hard facts.
Guaranteed When it's almost dry, like 3 hrs before baling😂😂
Praise the Lord for the rain y'all are getting!! 👍👍
top dressing is like a modified gamble. Applied,in the dirt,is best

We run the JD sprayers and i will say the Case and the Viper4 is a far better setup than the deere screen.
The efficiency of the windshield wiper suits the brand of that sprayer
The Viper 4 monitor makes up for the rest... don't need a wiper anyways in a sprayer.

Do you hear that, Mike? Sounds a little bit like a good harvest is incoming. Hard to hear but with some good will... :-)
Hey Mike , have you tried to spray liquid fertilizer in combination with herbicide? Works pretty good on some hard to kill weeds💪

Need a backup pull type for applications like that. Nothing fancy, just something on standby.
