Hi Jennifer, I've just discovered your channel and would like to say that the balance between technical information and creativity is excellent. I look forward to watching more. I've enjoyed shooting weddings (UK based) with the Z6ii this year, usually go with two bodies a 35mm and 85mm, but also like the 24-70mm for going wide on the dance floor. I've not used the 105, but still grab the 70-200 occasionally. Thanks again for the videos.
Thanks so much for the comment! Very encouraging to me. I’m honestly still trying to like the 24-70. I use it for video pretty much 100% of the time, but as far as shooting still photography, I struggle with figuring out how to like it As much as my primes or 70-200.
Nice job with these bridal portraits! I wish brides up here near Chicago would book bridal portrait sessions before the wedding more. Seems to be a southern thing, but what a great way to get some beautiful portraits without the pressure of the wedding day.
Thanks Jennifer! I ordered this new 105 after watching your first video about it. But it's still awaiting back order here in Sydney :( This video is also very helpful! The background is not overly blurred and the rendering of the bokeh is really soft and dreamy. Can't wait to get it :)
Would love to se a side by side comparison between the 105/2.8S and the 85/1.8S. To see the differences in compression and bokeh. The 105 has a more marked telephoto effect and is larger whereas the 85 is more moderate and compact. Difficult choice I think
I may do that video in the future. Great idea. This was an actual bridal shoot, so I wouldn’t be doing it then, but I do have a model lined up for an upcoming video. Maybe we can do it then.
Thanks, I'm thinking of switching my 85 with this 105. I already have the 50mm 1.8 also so it can take a lot of portraits itself, this will get me more length plus ability to close focus. The 135 1.8 plan would be even better but almost too long, and way too $. ...plus can't do the macro... think I'm gonna try it.
Nikon z s class lens are stupid sharp with IQ so good that makes everything except zeiss lens look dull. I plan on getting tthis lens for portrait lens later. Bcs im 50mm guy, next lens should be 100mm
Great lens review and photographic results, looking forward to shooting some portraits with my new purchase! A note, though: I suggest turning down clients who seek plantation weddings. While these locations typically have beautiful surroundings, they are also places with a deep history of suffering and exploitation during America’s long ages of enslavement. As white photographers in particular, I believe we have an extra responsibility to speak up about these things - and encourage clients to seek more respectful and appropriate venues for their celebrations
Great video. Most lens videos are horribly boring where the reviewer blabs on and on and gives us some silly pictures and talks about how sharp the edges are and drones on about specs that I can read for myself. But you gave us a real world shoot and didn’t even mention center sharpness, corner sharpness, blah, blah. Thank you. Great pictures by the way.
Yes! So glad you liked it! I get very annoyed with many lens review videos. Honestly I don’t know that many of them that do the reviews are actual photographers in real life.
The Nikon Z cameras shoot cool, so I fix in post to warm them up. These were shot during and right before golden hour. Typically this time of day you will be between 7,000-10,000 kelvin depending on the direction the subject is in conjunction with the sun. You can bring a white card (or use the wedding dress if it’s pure white) to get a white point reference to fix in post.
FINALLY a video using this lens for portraits! Thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome!!
Exactly!
Thank you for sharing this video. Once again I am convinced of the versatility of the Nikkor Z MC 105mm f2.8 VR S and that I made the right choice!
Thank you! I just purchased this 105 and was debating if I should have bought the 85 instead! This solidified that I made the right choice! Thank you!
Wonderful! I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks, you've convinced me to press the buy button! Your work is gorgeous!
Wow. Makes me want the 105 now lol. Thank you for sharing this. Some of your best work !
Thank you! The secret is to have brides that trust me 100%. That’s when my absolute best work is done! ♥️♥️♥️

Seriously tired of seeing bees 🐝
I enjoyed your video! I absolutely love this lens! Thank you!

Well I'm sold. Beautiful images.

Great review, been considering this as an additional portrait workhorse.
Love your style. Beautiful lens
Thank you!!!

Just wondering what is on top of your camera? Wireless flash controller ? Great video
Yes
beautiful pictures.
I prefer the 105mm background compression over the 85mm. I hope Nikon makes a fast 105mm for the Z mount.
Do you have the 85mm if yes, how do you compare both, better still which do you think is best for portraits
Yes I do. The 105 hands down!
Thank you so much I have been thinking of trading my 85 for this
Ok! Still watching and you mentioned the flash 😊
Hot shoots❤
Is this lens fast enough to use during the ceremony?
I’m curious about this also.
I think yes, since its a native Z nikkor mount..nikkon z bodies has faster af when using nikkor z lens..
Would you use this lens for portraits during the wedding if the wedding is outdoors? Thanks
great video, THANKS
You’re welcome!

Is it fast enough for ceremony and first kiss etc?
What flash did you use on this shoot? Thanks

Do you like it better than the 85mm 1.8 ?
Hard to say. I love them both.
Where did you place the flash or were these all natural light?
Yes all natural light except the ones with the light coming from behind with the dark trees.
Great video. Which flash you using for z6!!
I used the Godox AD200 for a few from this shoot. But this one is 90% natural light.
It looks like these Nikon macro lenses produce warmer pics

@@Jennifer_nicole thanks.
My 105mm f mount 2.8 macro produces warm pics
