    I grew up watching Japan get better and better. My first guitar in 1967 was a domino Californian. In the eighties all my guitars were made in Japan. Basically because of the price. But it turns out they were actually better guitars. They just keep getting better their attention to detail is outstanding. Japan has pride in the products that leave their country to me that makes all the difference.

    That's a Classy Modern Classic Hybrid Strat! Looks and Sounds very solid.
    I'm fine with the Headstock Shape but I would have to get a slightly thinner Neck for me... That's by no way a criticism just a personal preference. SWEET TONES and a GREAT REVIEW Shane... I think you need to hang on to this one.

    First of all, congratulations for hitting 140k subscribers!!👏🏽👏🏽 Your content keeps getting better each video! As for the Vola, I do find it a great sounding guitar with a unique/familiar vibe to it. My only complaint is the price. Me being one the most obscene Fender/Gibson fanboy, I need a guitar to hit impossibly high standards to steer me to another brand. If I feel a company can make a similar guitar with the same or superior quality, the price has to be lower than my favorite brand. That’s my silly hang up 🤪🤨🤨🤓 It’s a cool guitar and I believe anyone would be happy owning a Vola. Looking forward to more demos with this guitar Shane!! Cheers 🎸🎸🎸👍🏾🤙🏾👍🏾

      You are missing out on a lot of great guitars and confining yourself to a lot of very average ones pledging allegiance to the Fender and Gibson lifestyle brands. Why pay $20k or more for a 2020 Fender Masterbuilt Custom Shop guitar when the Novo or Schecter Custom Shops can build you something even better for under $10k ?

    • @jamalabdul2009
      @jamalabdul2009 4 года назад

      tdunster2011 Perhaps you’re right however I pretty much have most of guitars I want now and they happen to be Fender and Gibson. If it’s a unique shape like some of the Little Crow guitars or any other brand except Schecter (I have an unhealthy hate for that brand 🤪🤪) I’m open to trying them.

      @@jamalabdul2009 When did you have the issue with Schecter ?The dude [Will] who ran the workshop for Schecter USA now runs Gretsch Pro Series production for Fender. So there might be an issue post 2017. I was looking to get Schecter to build me another Super Strat - but if there's issues I'll hold off.

    • @jamalabdul2009
      @jamalabdul2009 4 года назад

      tdunster2011 I just don’t like that brand. I’m left handed and for years Schecter and Fender were mainly the only guitars available in major music stores. Most of the guitars Schecter make really don’t appeal to what I like. I’m sure they are great guitars just not what I want.

    • @jamalabdul2009
      @jamalabdul2009 4 года назад

      tdunster2011 As far as a custom shop, I own a Fender 69 Stratocaster (righty that’s I play lefty) and it is by far my favorite guitar. It was $3k which for how it plays, is a bargain. I don’t have a problem with owning guitars outside of Fender/Gibson when the guitar is not modeled after a Strat/Les Paul.

    Hi Shane. Greetings from Barnsley in the Republic of South Yorkshire, U.K. Thanks for bringing all these guitar brands to our attention. You are really spreading the word for the "newbies" to the known market (and especially when you need a left-handed version!). Have you heard of/looked at Ormsby? I think they are based in Perth. You might struggle to get a leftie and the guitars I have seen are fan-fretted, but they may be keen. Thanks again and stay well.

    Like the 50's looks including the cream volume and tone knobs. Overall it sounds more modern and snappy (I think that might round off "a little" with playing in). The bridge hum bucker is very well voiced: wide range and rounded without any dullness, especially jumping from single coil to hum bucker it is well balanced so that makes it very useful.

  • @misterknightowlandco
    @misterknightowlandco 4 года назад +1

    Ok, the tone is great. The burst looks great and love that tinted maple neck. Two things that bother me about this guitar that would bug me if it were mine are #1 that headstock still looks a bottle opener or a birds beak to me. #2 the humbucker being chrome covered while the single coils are plastic triggers my ocd or something. Id either remove the chrome cover or get two silver pickup covers for the single coils. That being said, it sounds great.

      @benlogan430 4 года назад

      ? QC, price? Do we all just say what everyone else says? Did you notice the cost of this instrument? Professional quality instruments cost professional quality dollars that’s all. All three brands are expensive top shelf instruments.

    • @tdunster2011
      @tdunster2011 4 года назад +1

      @@stephenhookings1985 Absolutely. Ron Thorn makes a guitar using his own name and it sells for $10k. He makes the same guitar working at Fender and it sells for $50k or more. like you said - it's all marketing and Fender and Gibson do marketing better than anyone else.

    • @stephenhookings1985
      @stephenhookings1985 4 года назад

      @@tdunster2011 I don't doubt that many expensive guitars feel great. And I am super happy if someone buys one and can play it. But for me I get a kick out of spotting an underdog and making that okay well enough for me. If I factor in my time to fix them they are becoming more expensive than buying a decent guitar off the shelf. The odd thing - even decent guitars need some setup and now that flips my previous point. And if you are gonna learn guitar setup from Dave's World of Fun Stuff, Darrel Braun or Sam Deeks then better to start with a Harley Benton or SX or 2nd hand Squier cos you won't mind if you break them. Suddenly for modest tool investment, reasonable time investment you can setup guitars and if you been practising then you find out tone IS in your fingers - including the ones you used to setup a guitar. So at that point you are ready to buy that expensive guitar - except you don't need to at that point because you have it in front of you :-).
      That's where I am on my bass/guitar journey. The marketing I listened to was Dave, Darrel, Sam and the playing I listened to was Shane and Darrel on a range of guitars.
      Tone for sure is in the fingers - and a decent amp or good multi effects amp/cab sim with headphone... Decent setup, shielding, orientation from amp (to cut down single coil noise) and motivation to play and above all have fun. I don't need marketing to sell me that - I just got to want to achieve it for myself :-)
      And the DEEPEST irony - that Dave Gilmour tone I seek ... One variant is front pickup of a strat, tone at 2 ... Turn that finger tone DOWN and you get that bell soulful mourning sound. Now crank up that valve amp and have some fun ... I mean it's not like your neighbors are in during the day to come banging on the door? :-) ok use the modelling pedal in headphone mode.
      And I thank Gibson and Fender for brining guitars to the mass market. Squire, SX and Harley Benton for making them good enough for the mass market. And all the folks I mention for showing how to setup. Darrell and Shane for showing us how to play - even if one of them is upside down and mirror image :-)
