A little pinball tip for you that will serve you well: Get into the habit of just tapping the flippers. You have a tendency to hold them down, that's just an open door for the ball to jump into if you get an unlucky bounce off the side or whatnot. Game looks sweet!
This is such a cool concept. I hope they create more games in this style but for other franchises. Imagine a Lord of the Rings pinball room that you can customize... I need that
Pinball FX 2 VR is exactly what you describe, albeit with a limited number of tables (and sadly no LOTR themed stuff). Both SW Pinball and Pinball FX 2 VR are from Zen Pinball, so it's more or less what they do. I'm hoping this new one sells well enough that Zen starts releasing more of their tables in VR. Their tables are already 3D modeled and textured so the major portion of assets for play in VR are already developed. They have stuff based on the Alien franchise, Marvel, Bethesda Games (including Doom themed tables), real-world pinball machines such as the Williams tables, etc. etc. I would love to play them all in VR. As a final aside, there *is* a project for VR support for emulated pinball machines that has made a lot of progress the last couple of years. There's even a VR compatible table menu system available. Alas it seems to require a lot of setup and configuration, and it's not well optimized so a pretty powerful system is needed. Worth checking out though. Oh, and there is indeed a LOTR table that works in it I think.
I just got this last night and now ihave a serious addiction. Its so simply fun and the first game to literally make me feel like a kid! Highly recommended
My first VR game purchase. Been playing pinball all my life. The first Sim I played was atari pinball on the 2600. It was terrible. Since then I have never found anything close to playing an actual pinball machine until now.
@john mcneill I know right?! I was thinking ‘hmmmm...spend $3,000 buying 1 collectible pinball machine and have to do maintenance on it, or spend $300 on an oculus, get 8x as many tables, plus a legit fan cave of my own. Not hard math... do both! Lol
I'm so glad Zen got you to do a video on this. You went into just enough detail about the features and gave folks a good overview of the cave. I was going to do my own video as part of the BlahCade Pinball Podcast but I honestly don't need to now. 👍 Great work, Mike 🎉
Thank you so much, man, for all of the high quality content. You have helped me choose between different products and when I was watching videos looking for a good headset, I watch at least 20 videos on the quest and your video was the one that persuaded me to get one. You give so so much info on different things coming out and things that are being worked on. Thank you so much for making all these amazing videos bro, you deserve WAAYYY more subs on this channel. Keep up the good work bro
Mike I just wanted to say since I'm getting my index today i went back to watch your setup video to make sure i wouldnt get lost, and I must say seeing you content from then to now's really made me realize how much you've grown quality wise. Thank you for helping me through this vr journey. Heres to the future of VR 🍻
i purchased it as soon as i opened my eyes this morning lol. i was surprised how cheap it was, only $36 AUD. thanks for the video, looks really enjoyable. might start my campaign tomorrow, when I'm fresh & rested ha ha ha, as it is saturday here tomorrow. thank you Mike, thank you Oculus & most of all, thank you Zen Studios. keep making great fun games for us.
Hey Mike. This reminded me about The community working on Virtual Pinball. I went down the rabbit hole of looking into building a physical cabinet with 4k display as a playfield and every pinball game ever made lovingly recreated by a huge community of pinball fans. It is quite technical to get running, but so cool. There is a whole sub community making VR "rooms" to play these games in Virtual Reality. Definitely worth spending a few hours or days looking into. Virtual Pinball X
I've played it for a few hours now, the pinball machines are fun. I feel like the basement is a wasted opportunity in interaction though, it would have been nice to be able to be more tactile with the collectables, instead its just a series of menus and buttons, seems like they could have had you go up and touch or grab things and it would have felt more immersive.
Got this the moment it came available. I couldn't be happier with it. Although it's going to take awhile to unlock a few of them, and I wish I could set up a few tables around the "pad"
Glad you mentioned this was being recorded on the PC, because I found the Quest 2 version has graphics that I found blocky/flat in comparison to this video, and not anywhere near as good as I had hoped.
Spot on Mikey boi! The mini games you unlock and layers to the tables with progressive almost like stories makes this have so much more depth than you first think, just need to be bloody good to get them all haha! I loved the Mandalorian table the most as well but the Vader block mini game on empire is pretty sweet too
I'm going to pick this up, because I love pinball & Star Wars.. But what would actually make this a must-buy, is if they would add Avatar friends invites, so I could show off my fan cave in VR and not just by casting. Great video and review!
Imagine if Nintendo adopted this idea of creating an ultimate man cave of Nintendo figures, pinball tables and posters across their different franchises. 😍
I have the regular pinball vr on PSVR and it was really cool. Got this one on sale the other day and wow - the challenge (career mode) really makes it feel fresh. And there’s so many tables (7 I think). Having goals adds so much replayability. Would love for them to do a marvel vr like this with a nerd cave. Character faces are the only let down - kinda bad. 100% worth it though.
@@tracekatral I played FX2 on the first Quest and this on the Quest 2 looks a lot like FX2 on the Quest 1. Lots of aliasing. It's playable, but they really need to up their game.
I've never played this game yet since I haven't touched my quest much but I'm very surprised about this. I thought it was just gonna be a pinball game that was $25. But seeing all the stuff you can do to your hub to make it a star wars man cave with the mini games, I can definitely now see the love put into this game like vader immortal and tales from the galaxies edge. Also, part 2 was revealed to be releasing soon which I'm excited about. I wish I could get a quest 2 to get all the detail but I don't have the money, plus the only reason for me to buy it is for resident evil but maybe they'll make another version that could be cheaper or even more powerful. The quest is definitely gonna be one of the biggest vr consoles and I most definitely hope it goes even farther with games and graphics.
Yes, I remember that, and I remember my parents giving me an action figure for Christmas, and I opened the box and got a coupon for the action figure, because they didn't think it would be that popular and didn't make enough of them. Man, if I had saved that coupon, probably would have been worth quite a bit by now. ;-) Great review, really looking forward to this one. Love Pinball FX2 for the Go. Couldn't get myself to buy it again for my Quest 2, but was happy when I saw this was coming from the same people... ;-)
Thanks for the great review, Mike. I had seen the Star Wars Pinball on several other platforms, but never bit the bullet. I think this might be the one that does it for me.
Really enjoy your videos. Just got my quest 2 yesterday. Love it already. But your videos are very relaxing and you have a calm contagious nature about you. Very refreshing. I'm already a ping pong beast of anyone wants some comp.. OcumanSZ

I bought it with the May 4th bundle. It’s fun briefly in short plays but 🤷🏻♂️. The man cave isn’t real so I could care less and the pinball is really good it’s just missing leaning on the cabinet feel. It is however massively better than any pc pinball. Side games are just bad.
