In real life, the Raptor's speed is limited to Mach 2.25 because if it flew faster than that, that stealth coating will be damaged and they don't want that because it's expensive asf.

You know, I’m kind of curious of what the F 22 raptor would be capable of if it was designed to be a non-stealth fighter/attack aircraft, and not the stealth plane that it’s designed to be.

I once recreated the 100.000ft flight with the F-15 and at an altitude of 110.000ft and an AOA of 6° I reached Mach 3,5. If I would have kept going I might've even reached Mach 4.

Sound travels slower in less dense air. As such the speed of sound is lower at higher altitudes.
Hitting that speed at that height is plausible in that plane.

Fun fact: dark star was a radio code name for US spy satellites from the 1980s to the 2000s, it became famous when a civilian reported seeing a triangular object moving at supersonic speeds- he turned on his radio and heard the call sign ‘dark star’. The aircraft was codenamed the Aurora project

I'd like to note a few asterisks;
A) the Typhoon can go mach 3 at max altitude; it takes like two hours to get that high, and it's practically unflyable, but it works. Likewise, the bredox one can do mach 2.7 at 40,000? 60,000?
B) you can always push planes to their UNREALISTIC levels, hence how i did this crazy stuff

@Puro116 list isn't about fighters only, it's jets in general. Sr-71 is reconnaissance like Sr-72. An interceptor is a type of fighter, as it still carries offensive armaments such as guns and missiles. Get your shit right.

@coreydabrowski2249 They aren't. Interceptor fighters and air superiority fighter are different. A fighter is something with offensive armaments (guns, missiles etc.). An interceptor is literally just a fighter made to intercept enemy aircraft (high speeds, long rang weaponry). An air superiority fighter is a fighter made to cover a wide range of air to air combat, and overall dominate in mid to close range.

Also fighters are a lot more agile than interceptors because interceptor are designed to be fast, not agile.
The raptor is electronically limited irl to something like mach 2.25 because they don't want the super expensive radar-absorbing coating to peel off
