The best no quest, his performance in italia 90 was first class, his description of the Maradona goal was brilliant, he is the Vin Scully of Soccer....Coming from an Argentinean American...
Great post. I managed to predict all the great goals I thought he would mention. But he did leave one very good one out from yesteryear which he covered brilliantly; Best's lob over goalie Pat Jennings and the Spurs defence at OT around 1971 or 72 - beautiful, absolutely beautiful!
Just watched the documentary with Sue Barker on Barry Davis, loved it when be commentating on football games. A class of his own, and an adle for younger generation today who want to do what he does.
what was the world cup game where valderrama took on and beat a few players and as he wound up his long distance finishing shot, Barry Davies said something like "Is he as good as they say he is?" And a few seconds later, "oh my god, he's scored."
For me Brian Moore was the best. But Barry Davis was class too. The best two for me. Motson is good for a lower league 3rd round cup tie with his enthusiasm and quips against the Germans but overall Moore and Davis were better.
A distant third behind the peerless Brian Moore and the evergreen John Motson. Also, in my opinion Barry absolutely HATED the Germans and never missed an opportunity to bash them.
the best commentator of all of them.
Daniel Mann and Alan parry
His voice and persona was unmatched. Purely gorgeous commentator! Unmistakable voice 😀

Absolute legend of a commentator. Oh boy you don't hear talent like this anymore. Motson was another.
Nothing beats his World stare out championship commentary. Nothing.
Only second to Coleman as the greatest football commentator ever. Why BBC ever chose Motty over BD baffles me still to this day
Legendary commentator

There'll never be another .
The best
Pre eminent commentator
Is this Barry Davis? Just look at his face! The voice of the century...
😂😂. Brilliant! As a commentator he was always interesting, VERY INTERESTING!!!
Not the best interview but "GOOD TRYYYYYYY!!! ". 😀
John Motson n Barry Davis GOAT
Motson was a senile fool.
The Guv'nor of football commentary

Much preferred Barry Davies to John Motson
Daniel Mann is the best commentator ever legend
If you don't know what to day , don't say anything. Wisdom many I know could learn from. Oh, and first. :-)
Is this the man that says "even by his standards"
In my opinion he was better than Motty,
Vastly superior to the insufferable Motty - different planet

A million times better than cheesy, scripted, over rated Motson.
Where were the Germans but frankly who cares
