One of their last songs in 1982 (before the new album in 2021!!) . Benny did the whole track on his own (with synthesizers) and only a snare drum added. Agnetha was told to sing it as an 'ordinairy woman' and there not to sing it 'to beautifull" Frida did som operastyle singing in the solo instrumental. It is such an original huntingly beautifull track with a gorgeous arrangement. It is one of my favorites!! It didnt do well in the time but it aged very well. It was ahead of its time and a far cry from the joyfull image they had before. A very mature song indeed
The tragedy of this song is that we never know if her life was worse the day before he came, or after he arrived. Everything about the song is a total enigma.
This is a hauntingly beautiful masterpiece ❤ That record has stayed with me since the day it was released back in 1982. Ode to freedom is another of their breathtakingly beautiful masterpieces .
Abba improved in their later years a lot. Try Eagle, Move on, Soldiers, Visitors. They might be difficult to find, not all songs have clips, and as you know, live performances were scarcer and scarcer because Agneta (the blonde) did not want to tour anymore. She wanted to be home with her children. A very good oldie is "My love my life" where Agneta really shows her skill.
There's many theories of death and loss about this song. Even at one time that she is a ghost herself. How ever it's interpreted, it was the last ABBA track recorded for 40 years
In the early morning hours on a bicycle, the fresh country air on my face between tulips and windmills In Holland and the little radio was playing ABBA songs, a nice memory of last year's holiday. 🌺
ABBA have sooooo many songs on different topic's. They are all unique. And the singers are always fantastic, as well as the instrumentals. You must be able to hear all of them, if you have the time. It will take a very long time, if you find them all. There are hundreds I will presume.
A great song... the last one to be recorded by ABBA, until their reunion in 2018... Agnetha🩷 leading 👌. Frida❤ making the "AAaaaaa's" in the back.👌 Thaks for you work, Empress😢❤! Please more of 🅰️🅱️🅱️🅰️🙏 Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗😘👍
Nice song, great réact!👍Not the most known and évident song of ABBA. Empress, You got a deep and skillful connection with music your are gifted in this, well done!🙏 Kiss,😘
Its actually very loved by a lot of ABBA fans ... it appears in their early best of compilations too so quite a lot of fans would have heard of it... The song which is the most underrated due to not being included in most of their compilations but really amazing sounding is If It Wasn't For The Night ..
i remember this song came out it was one of the last ones, it didn't get high in the charts anymore, the members of the band were finished with each other so was the public, abba would dissapear soon after this but it's a great song like all the songs they made 💔
Some of the best music and songs could be very much underrated. Like this one. In my opinion, this is simply magnificent performance and a masterpiece in every level. ABBA'S music is timeless. And from time when skills and talent means something. Not just something today's stupid and ridiculous "talent contest".
yes, this is the last recorded Abba song (the last in the 20th century) and the complete album from 1981 (and this song with a few more songs that were supposed to be on the new album the following year, but unfortunately, that album was never completed - 'Opus 10' , working title, 1982) is unfairly underestimated and did poorly in the charts of the time (and this, unfortunately, was the reason for their early termination - because they were destined for the first places in the charts, and everything else was considered a failure) In the end, Frida's operatic voice (and that the departing train, who disappears forever in the fog of memory - and, a period in the lives of the four of them disappears forever, they were aware of that even at that time 🤔) expresses everything I wrote here so impressively and prophetically..🥺 happy 79th birthday my dear, real art has no expiration date - and those who were ahead of Abba on the charts then failed to pass the test of time like Abba (this only confirms their unequal treatment, especially in the US mainstream at the time)
they worked together while reaching the top of the charts.. The power of Abba and its musical universality is confirmed by the fact that its songs have taken first places everywhere and in various genres - including on the US charts: 'Dancing Queen' - the number 1 on the Billboard hot 100; 'Fernando' and 'The winner takes it all' - number 1 on the Easy listening/Adult contemporary chart; 'Lay all your love on me' - number 1 on the Dance chart
i loved this when it first came out but it wasnt a big hit at the time. Since then it is alwayss mentioned in the top 3 by die hard ABBA fans as their favourite
Incredibly, it wasn't one of their better known songs, but like so many other great hits, it's a perfect example of the songwriting genius of Benny & Bjorn. 🙋♂
Has been charachterised "as a song without chorus".It's a sophisticated grower and despite its (comparatively to other Abba songs) non-commercial massiveness, its highly acclaimed by critics as an Abba masterpiece.

This is ABBA's most underrated song
Personally I think that song is 'Eagle'.

The song which is the most underrated due to not being included in most of their compilations but really amazing sounding is If It Wasn't For The Night ..
The blonde with the higher voice is Agnetha, the brunette with the deeper voice is Frida 😉
As you say a hauntingly beautiful song. I enjoyed your emotional and insightful reaction. The music video is outstanding as well.
There greatest song xx

Agnetha's vocals are deliberately throttled in this performance to portray an ordinary women.
She still sounds great :)
I don’t remember this from the time. Enigmatic … clearly abba .
You are a sweetheart Empress
Thank you!
A masterpiece!

Still so beautiful. Enjoy seeing you react to almost anything.
Sad song! Like their Swan song: good bye to Abba 1982..until 2021.

The quesrtion is: the day before WHO came, or the day before WHAT came...
Björn is absolute genius with lyrics
