‘Time is your best friend, just keep doing what you’re doing, things will get better…’. I’m going to put those words into a song I’m writing and if it comes true, I hope Phil hears my gratitude. I’ve never been so 50/50 in my thoughts with regards to whether or not I want to end life as I am now. And it’s a strange feeling. It’s not the wanting to die but rather the yearning to live but feeling that impossible that makes for suicidal dreams. But this interview was somewhat cathartic, and the new album is one of my albums of the year. Thank you 🦋
I really appreciate that he doesn't shy away from his use of antidepressants and how he tried going without it but only made him feel the worst. mental health and antidepressants are demonized and push this ignorant idea that "you just have toughen up and deal with it" glad he's getting the help and man enough to improve his mental health. great example for people that suffer with depression and anxiety.
I only discovered Whitechapel 12 months ago and I have enjoyed every moment researching the music and them. Further more Phil is such an amazing inspirational guy with his life experiences.
This doesn't really have much to do with this video but I still want to say it, so fuck it... as a kid most of the adults in my family were always like "metal is garbage and everyone involved in it are violent or drug addicts or bad people." You know the classic BS they try to push on TV etc. but one things for damn sure, I'd way rather have my kid look up to someone like Phil, or countless other metal artists. Instead of the large majority of artists etc. that most kids seem to look up to these days. Luckily my parents let me listen to what I liked even though most of my aunts, uncles and grandparents argued with them all the time, that it wasn't a good idea. I got into metal around age 7-8 because my older cousins and friends showed it to me. Then from age 12-14 I got really into hardcore, which led me to become straight edge, and I kept that with me all the way into my adulthood... metal has helped me through everything in my life even to this day.
Orphan was a complete surprise for me , that being said I LOVED IT as much as blood soaked symphony . He’s really showing his depth and his ability to be completely opposite of the rage he came from . Thanks Phil , the true fans really appreciate it ! I’d rather see all sides of you then just the rage .

There is a ton of research coming out about withdrawl/dependency from psychotropic medications, particularly SSRIs. That bottoming out is concerning. There are manuals for titrating off of those medications.

I like that they are getting out there and broadening their horizon, but ima 12+ year listener and I honestly want the somatic defilement/this is exile type of music back. Not a band on this planet can top the power and sheer energy that somatic defilement had.
h phil
Condolences to loosing your dad - and in your arms is even tougher I think ((((((((hugs))))))))) to you bro
Whoa my gandma had scleroderma. I’ve never known anyone else that had relatives that hadbit
I was in college when these guys first came about and got back into them lately. I love that Phil doesn’t care about labels etc because the growth in their music has been amazing. Not to mention Phil has such a great healthy outlook on life and mental health issues, which is such a good thing since so many people turn to music to deal and cope with what they’re going through. You’re a real one Phil 🤘
Scleroderma is one of the most absolutely horrible diseases that a person can suffer through. Its so emotionally and physically draining for the person living with it, and for their family members who have to watch them suffer.
There is a ton of research coming out about withdrawl/dependency from psychotropic medications, particularly SSRIs. That bottoming out is concerning. There are manuals for titrating off of those medications.
Nice shirt. Type o negative is my favorite band. Im really into Whitechapel too they kick ass
Amazing band, amazing individuals, you guys rock and if people don’t like it, they can go elsewhere! 💪🤘
White chapel has become like Opeth, cause hearing those clean vocals style, man they're incredible with that I kinda liked their new stuff bringing back the First elements of their first album, their debut was a massive killer💀🤘.
solid dude Phil....just saw him in Phoenix this past week at a show...they kicked ass
Metal is all about evolving how you are going to change your sound, how you are going to stay heavy and brutal yet experiment with something different. Who would have thought 14 years ago when the entire Metal community first heard this man would think he would evolve his vocals like this. I think it's awesome how they went from pure Deathcore to now Progressive Metal. They are on a whole new level now and I welcome it
People are obsessed with labels... Amen. So true.
Zoloft gang rise up! Jk. Love you Phil
He looks so much happier than he used to, say what you will but progression rarely gets accepted fully until years after the fact
Phil seems like a good guy. Same with the rest of the band from what I’ve seen
Didn't know about his loss. It makes Bloodsoaked Symphony hit even harder in the feels.
I grew up with Whitechapel. They inducted me into the deathcore genre. It's been great being there thru their evolution.
A true alchemist- turning shit into gold love it
Sheesh I feel like this was one of the most intimate interviews I've ever seen. I feel like I know these dudes personally now
I appreciate Phil sharing this. I knew some of it from Diggs road but I hope he can heal from that trauma
I totally agree with the music is for the ears.
This album is AMAZING.
Phil is cool af, I like the way he really comes across as just another person rather than a celebrity, even though he is. Even People who dislike metal can probably relate to him. What a boss.
So they have sold out then, good for them. hope they make $.
i just want to sit down and have a conversation with Phil.
Man he still looks like a kid.
Phil, you're a legend!
Humble creative men
He is such a great guy!
