    I'd like to see more advanced surfacing and multiaxis stuff. For multiaxis, maybe do a collab with ron to make an advanced 5 axis course you offer online? I'd buy it.

    afaict there is still room for improvement oon smaller things, which will makke programming definitely easier. More optioons in the Tool definition for example the helical angle when entering pockkets as well as spindle speeds and feeds or recognizing and milling flats in 3d adaptive or in horizontal to be able to start from the outside instead of always helical entering every flat suurface (which is in my opinion stupid becauuse it costs time and the surface finish will be compromised).
    sorry for misspelling, my kkeyboard sometimes writes letters twice

      On parts where Horizontal Area is not doing what I like, I usually end up using a 2D option like Pocket or Area Mill.
      The software is improving every year and user suggestions are taken into consideration. Drop Mastercam a line and have your suggestions heard.

    Hi , im pllanning to learn mastercam at age of 30 , i have worked with other cadcam solutions and faced their limitations and i want to choose the best , but my questions are what are the limitations of mastercam in terms of toolpath creation and performance ?
    i do have researched alot thru youtube , google , any possible sources , honestly mastercam doesn't have any problem in terms of toolpath creation , ( i'm planning to use mastercam for 4 axis and 3 axis wood working ) but there is one thing that i noticed is performance issues m currently im trying to push mastercam to it's limitation , cause in woodworking industry time is gold and using one simple raster to create a wooden column is no good , creating a gcode with stacking 300 or more operations on top of each other will reduce machining time to less than 1/5 (modeling in surfaces ) but the problem is cad cam software are stable with one or two operation m but when it comes to multiple operations they will collapse and continue working will be impossible .
    i reached my hands on mastercam at one of my friends workshops i tried out some of the toolpath commands ( I want to just select some surfaces and create offset toolpath thats it) after a quiet wrestling with software i find out "Unified multiaxis" is what i want , but there was a thing , after stacking up 200 operations the pc starts to freeze up and act laggy like others.
    1. am i doing it right ? is unified multiaxis any good for 4 axis toolpath generation ? or is there any specific toolpath or what i want ? (also the size of saved file drastically increase because of gauge geometry ??)
    2. is mastercam capable of handling 300 more toolpaths stacking on top of each other ?
    3. is it possible to suppress or disable previous toolpaths to make it possible to continue working ? ( cause im suspicious that mastercam is calculationg toolpath links live )
    4. another problem that i had (not a problem ) but framerate for an imported ~100mb solid igs was terrible for a 1070 ti asus rog gpu idk if any requested softwares like drivers or directx was needed or installed there but what i want to know if this is normal or not ? mastercam was working very fine with lighter models but as the models started to getting heavier mastercam struggles to handling the model
    4.5 . is there any prefered strategy in mastercam to let the software to be able to run alot of gcodes?
    5.what is the best hardware spec (and also medium) to run mastercam ?

    • @CamInstructor
      @CamInstructor  Год назад

      1-Unified is becoming the go to multiaxis toolpath, so with no other information I would suggest starting there.
      2-Mastercam can do 300 or more toolpaths. This is more about your computers capability at this point.
      3-You can lock toolpaths, but should need to. Mastecam will not 'recalculate' a toolpath unless you break something within it.
      4-IGS are not great models. Basically, anything else would be preferred. If you can get a parasolid, that would be my first choice.
      4.5-You don't need to do things a certain way. The software will function as long as your computer can handle it.
      5-Get the best i9 in your budget, max ram 64 or more, high end Quadro video card RTX A4000 or better, latest gen PCIe SSD. Desktop will perform better than a laptop.

      Mastercam also costs more than a loaf of bread. If a loaf of bread helps you through your work day better, buy the bread. Most shops find that Mastercam helps them get through their day better so they buy it instead.

      @@CamInstructor I was quoted as $15000 with $1500 per year to get an update and I would've had to pay for a custom post-processor. Not happening. If you want to make more profit, use a better and cheaper program IMO.

    They never fixed the glitch in the tree branch: folders/parameters won't open (often times) unless you clicked at another folder above it, this glitch it's been there since the x series. Pcs & graphics cards are not the problem. Another glitch: my circles, radiuses get chopped-off when editing the toolpath (often times aswell), the toolpath becomes dirty & needs regeneration & creation for the missing section of the wireframe. Mastercam is too overrated. I've used FeatureCam in the past & never encounter glitches like mastercams'. Mastercam feels like if your driving a brand new vehicle with engine problems. I've been a Mastercam user since 2010 due to popularity in the job-market, otherwise I would've chosen a different Cam software. Ps: The certification they offer is a Joke. They lost my certification awards/data from 2012. They never reply when I contacted them. Shame on CNC Software.

    • @CamInstructor
      @CamInstructor  2 года назад

      I haven't experienced any of the problems you mention. Would be best if you took those issues to CNC Software. If they are able to reproduce the issue then they can most likely fix it.
      Certification, guess you should have taken ours instead :)

    • @performz28
      @performz28 2 года назад

      @@CamInstructor I appreciate your reply.
      I've learned that the only thing that really matters to CNC software is $$/sales. I never hear from them if issues popup. Mastercam feels ancient compare to similar software. If you can't beat them then join them, lol, so here I am complimenting their crashy/glitchy/jumbled-up/popular product.
      For me: No more waisting money on certifications related to Mastercam. I paid around $ 830.00 total including their practical/professional test & now those certification awards are no where to be found... so, no thanks.
