I remember scotch line being sold in Kmart & Herman's sporting goods up here in NJ in 1980s

Diamond Jim. Very cool lure with an equally cool name. Love the box graphics. The action on that thing was brilliant! And those Scotchline lures you got from Phil are dynamite. I've nver heard of those before. The Fleck Goby Grubs are great too...Eric was thinking when he sent you those: one for display and one to fish.

Great history lesson on the Diamond lures. I haven’t researched the Diamond Jim and didn’t know the history behind them. I’d always thought that they originated in Florida with Jim Strader and his Diamond Eye Lures company. It’s funny how Strader didn’t seem to keep the Diamond Jim in the lineup given his name. Seems like it would have fit perfectly. I’m assuming Strader bought the Diamond Jim company at one point, or are they two different companies?
As for those Scotchline lures, they look exactly like the Mister Twister lures sold by Kmart under their Sportfisher house brand. Those were made for Kmart/MT by Moriyama in Japan. I noticed the packaging states “made in Japan” on these too.
Curious, what does the back of the card or the writing on the lip say? The Kmart lures say “Mister Twister Sportfisher” in cursive style writing on the lip and I’ve seen some from overseas that say “Moriyama Japan” in cursive writing on them.
The Kmart lures also came in the same style plastic boxes.
I believe Scotchline was/is(?) a discount reseller type brand similar to Donaldson and such.
Anyways, great video and nice catch on another vintage lure.

I always thought the KMart knock offs were pretty decent, especially the Rebel imitations. I tried to read the lip, it’s tough to see exactly what it says because of the plastic case and its cursive, but I believe half of it says Japan on the lip. Unfortunately the back of the card only had a barcode. I wouldn’t be surprised if all those came from the same factory with a different box. As always thanks for watching in writing in!!
