DRG is one of the only games that can promote positivity and camaraderie without even having to use voice chat at all. This is one of the only games where I can play with randoms and have a pleasant experience 99% of the time. Truly special and unheard of in today’s gaming world.
One of the few games where I don't get slurs thrown at me immediately. Here we just ROCK and STONE!!
Could I have a leaf lovers special

One leaf lover and can I have it thinned with water
@@penguatarctic not at you, but if youre not throwing slurs at bugs - youre playing DRG wrong
i slur every fucking swarmer i see (because they ALL manage to bite my ass)
This is why we salute and respect the Greybeards.
Without them and their faith in DRG, guys who came late to the party (such as myself, last year), wouldn't be able to experience what is one of the best co-op experiences in gaming ever.
The community of today owes it to the community of yesteryears.
ROCK AND STONE! ⛏⛏⛏⛏

DID I HEAR A ROCK AND STONE!? ⛏️
ROCK SOLID!!!
FOR ROCK AND STONE!
STONE AND ROCK!...OH WAIT
I still feel like they should drop the "Season" marketing, imagine if seasons were named "Critical Corruption Update" instead
The word season attracts a lot of angry gamers thinking that the game is live service and then they complain when theres no updates for months
The thing about flare upgrades is that their base stats were worse than they are today. There was one less flare and their duration was shorter. When they removed the upgrades, they changed the base stats to match the fully upgraded flares.
I very distinctly remember spending what little jadiz I had on flare upgrades early on.
I didn’t know this game existed until I was watching a RUclips video about another game and the content creator mentioned DRG *ONCE*. I searched it up and it happened to be on sale so I picked it up. Believe it or not, the price of the game also has a huge impact on its reach. Some people simply can’t afford to drop 40-60 USD on a game. As well as it being a low spec requirement game, even more people can have access to it as it doesn’t require you to drop your life savings on a beefed out PC. Love the game, hands down the best co-op experience I ever had in such a long time. League of Legends will do that to you.
Still want them to make gadget overclocks😢
That would be gamebreaking. Lets do it
That’d be a lot of work to do. If they were to do it I certainly would be happy with it though.
Vertically facing platforms!? Different C4 builds!? Grapple gun pulls enemies towards you!?

@@pancakesareawesome3121 The gunner creating a zipline elevator is the dream for me lmao
imagine an overclock to turn the satchel into a nuke 0_0
A good friend of mine recommended this game (End of Season 1.) to me and honestly, didn't think I would fall in love with it as hard as I did. (He was Driller, I was Engineer.) I always wanted to play! Still do tbh, I wanna play now but gotta go to bed very soon as I write this.
Sadly though, the friend that got me into this game passed away 2 years ago. After his passing I considered putting it down. However, it was just the overall positivity of the community of this game that kept me coming back. Made a lot of new friends on the way. I always love to join on Haz 3's or 4 just have a good time with randoms. Teaching them little tips and tricks I've learned from others while just being a dwarf my friend would be proud of. I miss him a lot.
this story is really sweet :’)
im sorry about your friend’s passing , and im sure that he’s proud of the person youve become 👍

@kawaiipandorapanda You too! I would've loved to Rock and Stone with you! I hope one day I'll get a PC. Would love to try some of wacky mods for this game. 😆
@@crystathedragon8988 absolutely !! by the way , d0 you have any s o ( ial media ? id like to talk more !
I bought this game a couple of days ago; only played solo and I'm still pretty lost, but this game is surprisingly addictive.
if you want any help learning the games mechanics, there'll probably be loads of people in the discord who can help you that are in your timezone.
(or you can discover it for yourself, its totally your choice. When I started I made a point of only playing solo for ages cause I wanted to be surprised by all the new bugs I found and stuff, rather than be told how to fight them. but some people would than rather learn quickly to get good, at the end of the day its personal preference)
I would love to see flare upgrades added back in. Stats like burn length, light radius, recharge rate, throw distance, but also a choice of special attribute to choose one of such as thrown flares stick to walls/ceilings, thrown flares have a chance to fear nearby enemies, flares have less radius but deal a small fire AOE damage. The final upgrade slot could be a choice of different color perhaps to incentivise fully upgrading them
That was a very cozy video, thank you.
Rock and Stone!
I was there gandalf, 6 years ago...
Rock and stoning since open alpha, what a beautiful journey!
I remember seeing a PC Gamer article talking about how it's odd that the number two thing that downs drg miners is other miners but I GUARANTEE you that 90% of those are accidental Digger C4 activations and 100% of them are accidental in general, so funny that it's number two
I just discovered this game about a year ago and its very interesting to see how it started. It has become one of my favorite games to play for short periods just to have fun nothing too serious.
I never experienced this part of deep rock Galactic I joined during rival incursion quit the game for a bit and then became completely hooked on the out of the funny Roc virus this is a great video on an older part of deep rock that I thought I would never see
Really puts in to scale how much the devs cooked over the years.
I joined January 2023. I have more than 1100 hours in DRG and I don't regret a minute! Awesome game, awesome devs, awesome community.
5:23 that’s still in current deep rock. The menu bit at least. Just ‘click’ on or open high-intensity flares.
Just noticed they changed the Medical Bay sign from red to green in the Legacy Edition as well.
6:33 if the box is checked in the apd console/terminal that asks if want to bring him. Its checked by default.
Rock and stone brother!
Flares really need an upgrade
1:23 I actually like the look of this old class customisation interface more that what we have now
those were the days, I started playing at the time when they had removed cave leeches for a while. best time ever. We didnt have bosco then, so a leech in solo meant death
We had only one mission type, mining. and there were only 7 maps or so. no procedural caves yet
5:15 you ever heard the voiceline "flares could use an upgrade"? its literally a callback to these days when you had to buy the 4th flare/cd
I can talk a bit about what made me like this game in its early days;
It was quite simple actually, I liked the loop of mining and fighting, I was looking for a coop game to play with friends and I loved the idea that the entire map was destructible. at the time this was still a novel concept, the only other game I can think of that was like this was minecraft. Definitely no shooter had ever done this
They need a “classic” weapon framework. Adding the og weapon models from 2018. The engi shotgun, GK2, and even the minigun looked good imo. Then just try and give the same vibe to all the other weapons that have gotten added
They need to bring back the shooting range! That is cool!!

I joined halfway into season 2. Before Season 1 is CRAZY
Season 0 was my favorite.
Rock and Stone!
Ah yeah, the best season actually
the PGL still feels pretty bad though, though maybe it was somewhat compensated by everyone having even more explosive grenades.
So, just to clarify, you could Rock AND Stone in the original version?
7:50 was doom eternal’s exclusion in that because it was the same date as AC:NH?
The Long dark devs also allow players to downgrade the game kinda like minecraft does. You can even downgrade it to an early access version
"Some lost N64 game" Said the boy whose first console was the PS3, which had no games.

0:59 ahem-chm-chm-COUFGH… anyways.
I don’t understand why anyone has any meaningful complaints about DRG development. The team are so responsive. There are so many thoughtful touches and so much obvious love and character. Nothing happens as quickly as you’d hope, but that’s software for you. Especially when you’re a small team. I wish more dev teams cared about their games as much as Ghost Ship.
They aren't a small team anymore, that's why. I hate this mentality that "le small wittle indie company 🥺" can't be criticized, or we can't expect improvements over the things we love. Criticism is not negativity, it is not hate.
My biggest critique is how they implemented the "opt out" feature for S4, which I think should've been a thing far earlier. The fact there's no down time between Seasons is a bit exhausting for us who miss the game pre-Seasons.
The opt out switch _forcing_ you to grind all 100 pass levels is also kind of ironic, and feels like a spit in the face. "Oh, you don't want rockpox? You dislike the Season? Then grind through the thing you dislike if you want to play the game _your_ way!" To me, it indicates a lack of confidence on GSG's part, that they didn't think S4 was good enough to encourage people to play it, and that people would just immediately drop out if given the option.
I think this is a fair criticism. Over a year of sloppox has been draining, and the only response I seem to get from people is "you don't have to play." But I want to. I play DRG with my friends. If people are annoyed and frustrated with your game to the point where they're being told _by the community_ to leave, I think it's fair to say you slipped up a bit.
I also kinda miss when expansions to DRG were more "ageless," which is to say, not marketed as "limited events." We are supposedly here to defeat the Rivals and Rockpox and drive them off Hoxxes... but they're still here. And they will be 10 years from now, because GSG isn't going to just remove content from the game. I miss updates like Roughneck, which simply expanded on DRG (the company) itself, and thus had unlimited staying power - it makes sense DRG is still doing Escort Duty and On-site Refinery missions to this day.
That said, I'm hopeful GSG has heard our feedback and will do something about this in S5. They briefly mentioned the idea of letting players "choose their Season," which is a great alternative. Hopefully this means we can select "no Season" as an option as well. This would solve basically all my issues with how Seasons are right now.
Even popular DRG RUclipsr Sniss has expressed disappointment in how Seasons have been handled. So it's not just a "loud angry minority" giving criticisms on DRG. I don't mean to smear GSG's name or dismiss the work they do, I just think criticism is a valid and crucial part of making a game that everyone can love.
@bugjams Agreed.
Updates are so much better than seasons.
“””Update 34”””: new set of primary weapons and the start of the season 1
Update 33: 2 new biomes and 2 new dreadnoughts
Update 32: 2 new mission types
Update 25: add machine events then update 26 and 27 add 3+1 new ones
Aug 8th 2019 - feb 4th 2021
Also the reason why seasons exist is because gsg was working on rouge core
@@bugjams I think we can still call GSG a small team- they're like a 30 person company or something aren't they?
I mis-spoke and wasn't clear. I think criticism of the game is fine- I've got some of that myself. I agree that "just don't play" is not a good response to criticisms, but it's not GSG saying that.
What I don't understand is that people go from criticism of the game to criticising the intentions of GSG themselves. Not Sniss or AxisKronos or whoever- they'll express a little frustration with the developers, but it's all pretty tame.
GSG seem like an above-averagely dedicated and considerate team who have just made some mis-steps. Personally I think mis-steps and mistakes are almost inevitable when producing anything like as complex as a video game. All you can do is own and correct them.
Sure, I wish GSG would correct things sooner, and release smaller more urgent patches with minimal fixes sometimes to the things that a really annoying people. But they do get there in the end. And I think there are down sides to a more reactive approach. There are no panaceas, there is no perfect video game.
@@bugjamsYo they did almost exactly what you said
0:46 does that still work? And how do I do that if it does?😮
Boot up options for the game when you launch it
You'll probably also have to go to properties -> Betas to opt in to "drg_legacy - DRG + 2018 Legacy Edition" first
But yeah, once you do it'll show up as a launch option alongside the DirectX12, 11, default, and safe mode options
im last 😔😔😔
No me 😥
Me
1:43 I’m no annoying person that thinks live service is good. I am patience… kinda, sort of… meh. But here’s the thing, not everyone owns a pc or a series… a nintendo s-waste of money that I am better than to buy that exclusivity garbage. Steam isn’t legally on xbox, if it were on, its modded. The console.
the old version to current is equivalent to AAA Games third release of the same game. edit: and only in fucking 6 years
5:10 Please stop asking GSG to re-add flare upgrades. They removed them for a reason.
Flares are meant to provide the bare minimum amount of light necessary to make the game work-if they had upgrades, they'd either make Scout irrelevant, or they'd start out too weak for new players to be able to enjoy the game.
