I once had a full conversation about how we make pizza sauce with a complete stranger during a dreadnought boss battle, and I feel like that's the perfect representation of just how chill the DRG community is
@@simplysmiley4670people really take the “no dwarf left behind” line really seriously, and I love it. In one of my first missions ever, we were heading back to the pod, I fell behind and had no idea where to go, so I decided to kill myself and let them go without me. Instead, a scout came ALL the way back for me, revived me, and led me back to the pod with 30 seconds to spare.
@@aexonity if you take a second in the memorial, theres a panel full of names of players who played the game and probably died at least once... people care about the "no dwarf left behind" part because its basicly hidden lore, you dont ditch a comrade, you either all win or all lose. for there is no honor in leaving one to die a horrible death in a horrid cave full of flesh eating insects.
Once i had a full conversation with a stranger about using G key to use grenades instead of middle mouse button in a drilldozer mission and a scout had to pick his side, it became a 2v2 conversation
One quick note in addition to the excellent monetization? Most Battlepasses also have predatory anti-consumer practices like FOMO, with the content in it lost entirely if you don't invest time/money before its gone. DRG on the otherhand completely sidesteps this altogether, pooling all the cosmetics from previous seasons into crates/packs that are found during missions. Despite the setting of the game, the Developers genuinely respect the Player's time. GSG are setting standards that everyone else in the industry ought to aspire to, and are deserving of all the praise they've rightly earned. It's a shame that this is an outlier nowadays, but it's a testament that proves gaming doesn't need scummy business practices to be successful.
I've played the game for a while and I must say, it's quite genius to have FOMO items randomly appear during missions. You even get rewarded with gold and other minerals when you find cargo/lost gear. But it is somewhat flawed that it's random. But I suppose it's better that way, as not to burn out on the lost gear/cargo grind.
@@Finppa I personally can agree that the implementation is both novel yet not quite perfect, I'd like to see maybe perhaps the usage of a rare currency like Error Cubes to be a craftable that can get one cosmetic of any choice from the Cargo/Backpack loot table? At least some mechanic to lessen the RNG variables, nonethless it's still impressive that GSG went about it in a way far beyond most of their peers in the gaming industry. Due to their track record of listening to the community? I have no doubts they'll address this aspect sooner or later.
and on top of that, any event-exlusive gear that players missed getting during their limited period, get for free instantly during the next year's event
Pros of running this game solo: -Bosco can reach high up mineral deposits for you regardless of class, making gathering nitra & gold a breeze. Cons: -No rich-ual
To anyone turned off by the mention of grinding: don’t be. ‘Grinding’ in this game is just playing the game as you normally would, just with some extra rewards at the end. Assignments are just strings of missions that you can either do or not- you’re free to accept other missions outside the assignment if something else catches your eye. There’s no repetitive aspect to the ‘grinding’, as every single unlockable in the game is just unlocked through standard gameplay.
Also drg seems to keep bringing me to smaller channels ( kinda surprised seeing this kind of quality in audio and video in a channel with only 325 subs keep up the great work ROCK AND STONE)
I think one reason why the community is so friendly is because the game is HEAVILY centered around helping each other. Platforms, ziplines, shields, building pipelines together etc. Not even in L4D does it promote this level of cooperation
cooperation while being task oriented IS the only means of survival... its basicly baked into the game, hell even in single player you get a little helper bot to direct, cuz without any commands it tries to hover as close to you while shooting bugs in your vicinity. of course more experienced players can get away with more fuckery and friendly trolling every now and then, but the point still stands...
I would like to add only one thing to the last point: if you want to play with other people, its totally fine to play with randos through matchmaking without the mic even, game is really good at making non-verbal communication accessible and efficient, I've often played highest difficulty missions with randoms without writing or saying a single word. Everyone knew their roles and what to do, pinging or pressing "x" was sufficient enough for most tasks, to say "yes" you can often just rock and stone and everyone will know the meaning.
@@simplysmiley4670 I love coop vs IA games because the communities are often super nice. But when you get to player vs player, people start to try hard > get salty > become toxic
i just bought the game and am super scared of playing with other people because of my social anxiety, so it's nice to read all the comments saying they're super welcoming and nice
I'd also add that once a season is over the cosmetics get added to the general loot pool so you never truly miss out with the seasons. Because ghost ship understand how valuable some people's time is Edit: also subscribed because you're quilaty seems to be on par :)
I would’ve added that but I actually just found that out from a few other comments, that’s really interesting, great practice though. I appreciate the sub, thanks for that miner
@@CNRMRY_YT ALSO if you missed any past holiday-themed events, all cosmetics from those events the next time that holiday rolls around. For example, if you missed out on 2022's Halloween cosmetics, the game will _give them to you_ as long as you log in next time the Halloween-themed event happens.
@@CNRMRY_YT The only past limited cosmetics you can't get are the anniversary hats. And the streamer hat that has to be given by the devs which I'm not even sure if they hand out any more.
Another thing that I reall like about drg is how much of an adrenaline rush it is. In one moment you're doing a mission with not much threat ever showing up thinking that you're pretty good. And then you're in the second stage of a deep dive, your scout has been swarmed, your driller and engineer have been eaten by a cave leech and 2 oppressors are chasing you while you're low on hp and out of shields, doing your hardest to clutch the game so that you don't screw up the deep dive.
Oh boy, I remember my first haz 4 mission. Joined in in the middle of the round, all of the guys pros, all player level 100+. So, We were somewhere in a veery tight cave room, with 2 floors, and there were 2 oppressors raging hell on my teammates. I did my very best reviving every simgle one of my teammates as engi, on anout 20% hp, constantly escaping the oppressors, using speed boosts and providing people with red sugar and trying not to use it on myself. At some point all 3 of my teammates died and it was a TRUE adrenaline rush. Having already used up my field medic I narrowly avoided death on multiple occasions, resurrecting a guy, then jumping down to the first floor with 10 hp left and narrowly resurrected a teammate right before I was downed. The teammate that I saved dealt woth the other small bugs and eventually everyone was safe and we managed to take the oppressors down and finish the mission. Man, that was the most fun, anxious and rewarding mission I have ever played, thanks to you all who made this mission possible. Best DRG mission ever.
I started playing recently and on my first day, playing along even with randoms just feels right. During one of my missions we managed to survive a pretty bad wave. I finished off some bugs and intelligently passed on fire and survived with around 5% health left. I looked around and realized the engineer was staring at me, probably just as surprised that I had survived. BOTH of us just shouted at the same time: *_ROCK AND STONE, BROTHE_*
1.1k hour vet here. Videos like yours are popping like like CRAZY on my home screen and it's honestly been a blast seeing creators big and small getting the word out about DRG. I hope your time in our little pocket of the galaxy continues to be fun and memorable! Rock and Stone!
Just wanna make it clear for new players: The fall damage reduction on engineer does NOT completely negate fall damage full stop. It does increase the height you can fall from and reduces fall damage but you will still take fall damage from high enough drops and can still go down from high enough drops. I'm not an expert on it but I've mistrusted the power of that upgrade enough times to know it can be a lethal mistake.
don't forget, even if you don't buy skins or if you miss the skins from battle pass or seasonal events, they then enter a pool of randomly populated potential skins you can find in the game later anyways, you can ACTUALLY buy the game once and get everything in a system that rewards playing the game more :)
I should note there is one exception to this. That being the anniversary hats. Those don't come back each year like the rest of the seasonal items. That being said that's only like 4 soon to be 5 hats at the moment out of hundreds so you're not really missing out on much.
This game is actually perfect. The seasons last super long which is just enough to keep new players coming and new content rolling while not going so fast to where people who take a break from it get lost in a sea of new content.
Xynarch Charge sucker, AKA "BET-C" (infected by the previously mentioned parasites), is a "chonker" of a combat mule that was abandoned when the company tried to tame the planet the first time (with mixed results) and is one of the (optional) mini-bosses in the game and one of the only ones who's presence is indicated by an audio cue that doesn't immediately start attacking you (aggros on proximity of 10 meters or damage).
@@CNRMRY_YT Bet-C is a pretty decent addition to your team, but she has a bit of a grudge against us and will often push dwarves off of cliffs or fire explosive rounds directly ontop of you (allegedly to kill a swarmer) She's a double edged sword sometimes

This game, after discovering it through a popular RUclipsr back in its REALLY early stages of development, captivated me. From the start, I knew I HAD to play this game. At the time, I didn't have a job or money, and without the means to get the game right then, I simply gave up and subsequently forgot it existed for a number of years. One day, although I don't remember how, I was reminded of the game and went searching for it, since I had forgotten the name. When I found it, it looked even more incredible than I remembered. I LOVE horde shooters. I LOVE dwarves in media. The way that they're represented as mining and drinking machines. Partying down hard while simultaneously being the most badass, force-of-nature, tech-advancing mega-chads out there. I just always wanted to hang out with the bands of dwarves from the stories and movies that I was caught up in as a kid. Within 2 weeks of my purchase of DRG, I had logged close to 250 hours, and it replaced my long-standing favorite game of 10+ years. Deep Rock is IMMEDIATELY enjoyable, easy to digest, and can be unbelievably easy at its lowest difficulty, or BRUTALLY hard at its maximum. If you have not yet given Deep Rock a chance, there are certainly those who will think it's not for them, and that's fine. However, I would wager that the vast majority of casual and competitive gamers alike will find SO much to love in this game. I could EASILY type a 20-page essay about the depth of love I have for this game and why I love it so much. There is so much to learn and see about all of the lore, loot, upgrades, and cosmetics, etc. Instead of that, I will just say: if you are on the fence; take the leap. This game is one of the greatest of the past 2 centuries of gaming, I have no doubt in my mind. I hope it never dies, and that the updates keep coming for a long, long time because I will keep playing till I have no more rocks and/or stones to give. Rock on, miners. For Karl.
Listen, usually once I get a small taste of a game my mind is pretty made up on how I feel about it. When I first downloaded DRG as a part of PS+, I did not have the best opening experience. The tutorial mine at the start made me feel extremely claustrophobic, and the simple graphics kinda turned me off, so I just closed it and didn’t think of it anymore. Then, on a whim, I tried it again…and again…and again. It took me a few times before I stuck with it, and I’m glad I did, because once it set its hooks in, I cannot put it down. I’ve never had such a 180 turn of opinion like that in any game I can recall…but DRG is something really special. You really feel like you have a job to do, and your progress matches that perfectly. The learning experience for all the different mission types really felt like being a greenbeard and learning the ropes…and by no means was it a straightforward progression. Towards the beginning I was jumping into online jobs without knowing what I was doing, not having read the miners manual for said job, and felt like I was letting the team down. I felt obligated to go back and do them all solo at least once so I knew exactly the best way to complete each objective, that way I would become an asset instead of a liability. There’s just so much to add, and I don’t feel like I’m really doing it justice because I can’t find the perfect words to express how this game gives you a sense of accomplishment you don’t really get from games a lot anymore. I hope DRG lasts a long time, and the developers get the recognition they deserve.
most toxic dwarf i ever met was someone i was introducing to the game who outright refused to say rock and stone, ask if people were ready drink beer, and got unreasonably salty over dwarf-elf racism to the point of going on a week+ long rant about how 'rock and stone' can somehow be connected to nazis. like dude it's a dwarf game. what the hell.
@@comet.x The German for rock is 'Gestein'. The German for stone is, 'Stein'. So in German, the dwarves would be shouting "Gestein und Stein!" which sounds too much like a Jewish sitcom double act for the Nazis to be even remotely in favour of it. So your 'friend' is talking out of his ass!
@@comet.x damn. Worst I've gotten was a guy who called us retarded cuz I was mining nitra(????) And then killed us and left The permafk scout who I had neglected to kick kept the mission from failing, still in the drop pod, until a new guy joined us and we resumed the mission, eventually completing it
I have only ever had one who tried to ruin the mission, and team kill every body. Together the three of us got one of us to the ship. The rest of us got left behind to get mauled and picked up by drones.
Whenever I play games, three things are what I consider the most important in the games. Good Direction, Good Feeling and Small Things. DRG hits them on a high note. Direction and Feeling go hand in hand. If you give your game a good direction, it shall feel good to play. Gameplay, Sound, Music really contribute to what many consider fun. But it's the small things. Petting the Robots, Drinking and Toasting at the Bar, the ability to dance at the Jukebox, all the funny voicelines and the engagement the Devs have is just, great. I can kick barrels into the drop pod and get a voice line telling me that I can't bring it with me. Then getting 4 of them into the Drop Pod and get a funny achievement. I'm still trying to kick every barrel in the rig into the pod. That's an achievement too.
unironically being able to drink at the bar with other people is probably the sole reason this game got as big as it did. Sure its a great game and they're amazing developers, but when i started playing everything was super alpha looking, the ship the guns etc. But hanging out at the bar and having a beer with the rando's from last mission was this magical moment for me. Like suddenly these werent just near-bot like other people from maybe the other side of the planet, suddenly these where actual people that i could crack jokes with and have fun with. You know how some games make you feel like most of the other people dont speak english? This game is the complete opposite of that, i've felt genuine fellowship and communication with people who actually dont speak english.
this is an incredibly high quality video! That said, I have to disagree that it's hard to get into- I went from the tutorial straight into Hazard 1 and 2 multiplayer games, which are easy enough for that. The community is so nice that it just works! The customization is amazing- you mentioned how each class is good for aoe vs single target, but the reality is with overclocks that you can build out whatever you want. Love this game so much. Rock and stone!
For sure, the experience is different for everyone. The reason it was particularly hard for me to get into is cause I started with a friend who unfortunately didn’t enjoy it as much, so I went from playing with someone else to playing alone, cause it’s just not really me to just queue up with randoms. That being said, thanks for checking out the video. I appreciate you.
Yes! For example the engineer's grenade launcher. With overclock, it can be either turned into a literal nuke or a high accuracy, high damaging single target sniper rifle
@@CNRMRY_YT the solo queue expirience in this game is actually one the best. I've scored just about 100 hours already, and most of it were with randoms. You don't really meet toxic people(quite the opposite actually, there is always a pretty good chance of meeting some cool players, completing a shared assignment or just a couple missions and then drinking a few beers, which always makes my day a bit better), and the most of the issues i've had were with greenbeards who just haven't caught up on the basic rules, which I can totally forgive, especially since it is not a competitive game.
I have played around 300 hours. Overclocks change the game massively. To an extreme. To change the feeling of the same is to change your class and build constantly. Changes the game to a fun degree.
For sure. I just got to overclocks around the time I was finishing up this video. I’ve only promoted gunner, so I didn’t feel qualified to give my input on them, and I also chose not to include them to give more of a basic look at the game. With that being said though, the few I’ve unlocked are just so awesome and really change it up, another fantastic addition in this game.
@@CNRMRY_YT The only bad thing about OCs is their number and randomness, getting the ones you really want requires grinding and hoping for the best. Devs should look into it eventually.
@@p_serdiuk maybe, I kind of like that about them. Rather than every OC being the same like upgrades, it allows for even more build diversity, sort of like rolls in destiny or kuvas in warframe (if your familiar with that). I like the randomness, but I understand why someone wouldn’t.
@@CNRMRY_YTto clarify for other readers, overclock stats aren’t random, but the order you unlock them is. It does mean that most players are running very unique/fun builds that they discovered on their journey.
3:34 i would disagree because killing isn’t the only thing needed, scouts are great at collection of the objective ( and one of the few who can go off on there own mostly safely) and great for kiteing the horror of hoxxus in the haunted cave
Though the fact that everyone seem to have a difference in opinion on which class is least and most essential tells me drg has a great balance of while no one is essential because they can all do the job when you don’t have one of the classes your gonna miss them It has great balance of the classes
@@geoshark12 Least and most essential is highly dependent on the mission type. Drillers are great most of the time, but during the rival boss battle, not so much. Scout is less usefull in short cramped maps with pretty much only tunnels. Engi is great a certains tasks, but lacks in survivability. Gunner struggles a bit in heavy swarms maps without chock points.
As a scout main I have to agree. For missions like dreadnought scout is less useful, but good luck getting those last few secondary objectives without one. I have probably 60% of my play time with scout and other classes just feel so slow in comparison.
@@graham1034as a scout main aswell, I have to say he kinda presented the scout weapons poorly even though they are all actually pretty good, the twin smgs can be downright broken at times
Great video. I never even realized it till the end when you mentioned it, but I have never been mad or angry towards this game. For a while I seemed to always get mad at whatever I was playing (CoD, R6, etc.) being super competitive. I guess that is one great thing that separates DRG from the rest, I truly is FUN, especially with friends.
Scout Main here, just wait till you unlock the M1000 and some pretty nifty overclocks like hipster allowing you to fire it very quickly. You'll be giving the gunner a run for their money on kills! Also, the grapple gun allows you to quickly reach downed teammates first essentially making you the first responder to revive in a lot of cases.
Scout has less options for cc but he still has good ones! Cryo minelets are also insane, i like to pair them with ai stability engine on the assault rifle for the increased weakpoint damage on freeze
Your introduction is pretty much me, hanging on OW, sea of thieves, til eventually found this amazing game. Always happy to see more channel talking bout DRG. Rock and stone brother!
The fact that all of the content that you fail to get just gets added to the games loot pool just makes for endless content to play for great for those with little time to play or new comers just starting discovering something new tomorrow or 10 years in the future, love it
@@sportyeight7769 this could be easily fixed by adding past anniversary items or Christmas or Easter events or whatever events they do from prior years back into whatever event they are running in current year. Like being able to get Christmas events from two years ago in the Christmas event this year. Past Halloween events in Halloween this year with the new stuff to get too and so on.
In my 20 hours of experience with DRG, I have to say, it has been a great experience. The community is awesome and supportive, I haven’t had a bad experience at all. Yeah sometimes we slip up in missions, forget to place a platform underneath the grappling scout, get C4 detonated in your face, 3 dwarves get downed by a Bulk Detonator while a Nemesis terrorizes the unlucky scout who got too close. But not once did I see an angry word sent. We managed to survive the Detonator Crisis because the Driller had Iron Will, escaping to the drop pod with 17 seconds to spare. I love all the characters, so much fun annoying MC. Except Molly. She pushed me off a cliff into a swarm. Anyway, really enjoy the game, glad to see others do too.
I have nearly 1.8k hours spent in DRG and I pretty much always play with random teammates. I have probably only run into 5 or so dickbags that entire time.
Good Video man. Just started the game because i see the ''ROCK AND STONE!'' quotes on every post in every social media and been having a lot of fun. Also a good game to play high
Deep rock seems to be really favored by yt for whatever reason (cause its good) and SUPER well done review videos like this get push out WAY faster if the topic is deep rock.
Great video man, by the production value I thought your channel had some 500k+ subscribers. Really surprised me, hope you continue the good work. All the best wishes! Rock and stone!
I used to play this game a lot back with my friends in 2021 just hopped on it again & have been solo queuing I just did my first elite deep dive yesterday thanks for bringing more recognition to this amazing game
Just fyi ive played 150 hours of scout before I finished all assigments for that class. I couldve still kept playing him and diving for matrix cores, buut I decided to spend another 450 hours building out the next 3 classes. So much end game content. So much replayability. No fomo. No greedy monetization. Lots of bug killing. Buy it now.
Another amzing thing about DRG you didnt mention is the mod support. Karl be praised its really good. They have 3 approval ratings depending on the mod: 1) Verified for mods that only effect personal accessability (sound files, UI setups) that dont affect base game level progression 2) Approved for mods that moderately change gameplay, but still retain normal ingame progression (harder difficulties, weapon rebalances) 3) Sandbox for mods that drastically change gameplay and ingame progression (instant unlocks, god weapons) You can play verified and approved mod lobbys on your regular save file. If you want to go crazy with sandbox mods, the game will make a copy of your regular save file just for that so you can have fun with wacky mods and still retain your ingame progression on your regular save file. I really wish other games implented this mod support setup as it makes mods very accessable without screwing base game progression.
I didn’t really mention it cause I haven’t messed around much with it yet. The extent of that is just like goofy stuff like a vine boom ping lmfao. I really do look forward to delving into it more though, the support for it looks incredible.
I think Scout is a much better class than you mentioned at one thing: playing the objective (especially the secondary ones, but some primary ones too). He's not great at fighting the bugs, but he's a god-send in many time crunched missions (such as gathering the Aquarks), or gathering Nitra in niche places in very mineral-poor missions.
Fair point. I feel like a lot of people kind of took it as me hating on scout lol. I actually think he’s really fun, just less essential than the others for most objectives
The Scout also has the cryo grenade, which is not only AOE, but can be high single target damage when combined with power attack. Grappling hook also lets you get to weak points faster, and you can build his weapons for magdumping. Lowbie scout is probably the most painful class to play, however.
Bought the game back in 2018 when it got to early access, leveled up all dwarves to level 30 back then and forgot about the game untill the February or March of 2022. This game changed so much from that period of time that I basically knew nothing about it other from the gravity reset button in the hub. Well, basically, I spent so much time in this game since then, that now I have all the overclocks and half of the cosmetics (it's a long way to collect all of these). Love the game, love the devs that are in touch with the community.
I just started playing today, a little overwhelmed but having a blast, first mission i entered i met a pair of super high level bros who guided me through the new player intro stuff. Rock and Stone brother
It’s so good, I played the OG and didn’t pick it back up until Christmas. 100 account levels later, it’s so good. I wish there were more random assignments to do after you get classes promoted.
Drg is a really different game once you start unlocking OCs. Once I finished the push to unlock all weapons and their OCs, being able to experiment with all of them was a lot of fun
Hey I am not new to the game, but I love it and I love finding people that just discovered it, and I am happy to know you enjoy it as much as I do. Rock and Stone !
I would like to add that while Scout lacks the swarm clearing abilities of the other classes, Scout excels at taking care of high value targets that could disrupt the team (acid/web spitters are a great example)
Also, simply being able to *see* the entire swarm is incredibly helpful in my eyes, because it allows you to target effectively, whereas without light you are just taking shots in the dark if the bugs aren't close enough to you that you'd rather them not be there
In over 500 hours I have had exactly one negative interaction with a player in DRG. You do get people being cheeky and teamkilling at the drop pod but they generally get you right back up and it's all in good fun. This game genuinely needs to be played multiplayer, and random groups are it's bread and butter. I often hop into lower level missions just to help out the greenbeards and so do many other veterans. When I get a bit burnt out, I take a break for a few weeks and then when I come back it catches me again.
every time i am scrolling through my recommended section and i see a video talking about how great this game really is, it makes me smile. thank you, man.
It's also worth noting that several difficulty levels are built in. I prefer a still challenging mission but one you'll probably survive, so I play on Hazard 3, but you can do harder or easier and you will still find people to play
It always felt funny in a cosmic sort of way how a game about an intergalactic hypercorp that treats it's employees like disposable trashbags has one of the most consumer friendly monetization schemes in recent gaming. GSG really are *just that good* .
Been playing DRG on Xbox since it hit early access at the start of 2018. I've taken a couple of months off from time to time, but it always draws me back in thanks to the fantastic updates, holiday events, and... well, videos like this. The Left 4 Dead comparison has always been understandable, being a 4-player coop horde shooter. I think what makes Deep Rock so enthralling compared to most games in that genre is that the exploration and resource collection make those moments between bug swarms vastly more interesting. There's a surprisingly deep learning curve as you start to gain a better understanding of how to efficiently mine your way through objectives while remaining aware of and dispatching aliens lurking in the dark. I agree there's still some repetitiveness to it, but when taking into consideration the randomly generated caves, the varied missions and enemies, the ridiculous build variety, and the natural camaraderie that comes of playing it with others - even with dwarves you've never met before - I find it more replayable than practically any other cooperative game I've ever tried. Rock and stone forever.
While they can seem undergunned compared to other classes, the scout brings a lot of utility to the team and synergises really well with the engineer's platform launcher to easily reach minerals. He's also great at picking up downed teammates who are out of reach of other players.
iv started to classify the 4 classes into 2 combat 2 support with some exceptions here and there(engineer with fat boy grenade launcher for example)...
About that slow zipline - if you quickly attach/deattach to it by spamming keys repeatedly you can sort of glide on that zipline and move a bit faster, just carefoul as if you miss a button you fall
For some reason deep rock is that kind of game that you watch people play and think "It looks alright I guess.." But then so many people praise the sh!t out of it you decide to give it a go, and you find yourself loving it way way more then you expected to.
Seconded. DRG is one of those VIDEO GAMES you need to really give it a shot. You need to FEEL it! I too had big doubts, thinking it looks like "that other thing X mixed with that other thing Y", but boy was I wrong. Easily one of my all time favorite games now.
Moving from LoL, Overwatch community to Deep Rock Galactic community is like ascending from hell to heaven. In LoL every other player is super toxic, in deep rock you meet like 1 toxic player for like every 40 hours played, It's crazy.
I just wanna say, you talking about the community makes me tear up a little. As someone with over 300 hours in this game, I owe a lot of my knowledge and skill to veteran dwarves who were patient and kind enough to teach me. I have done all that I can to keep that positivity going because of them. I will NEVER be salty at a greenbeard, and I will gladly teach anyone willing to play everything I know about the game. ROCK AND STONE TO THE BONE!
gunner main here, scout is also pretty good at dealing with flying enemies that shoot stuff, or just enemies that can disrupt the team. they have good damage, but as you said ad clear isnt that good. so dealing with the flying enemies or annoying enemies really help your fellow dwarves who are better at ad clear, keep ad clearing.
@@CNRMRY_YT From using the crossbow a bunch, the main draw for me is less dps and more giving you the ability to carry three grenade types if you build it right. I see it as more an extra support tool to inflict negative statuses on enemies to complement scout’s already very supportive grenades. I just have bring the GK2 with bullets of mercy to pick up the slack dps-wise lol
We are an aggressively friendly community and we’re glad to have you (yes there are a few bad apples but they are so few and far between that they don’t matter)
brother this had to be one of the best edited retrospectives I've seen, great job my friend and keep up the content. Promise if you keep going like this you'll reach 10k in no time
The best part about this review is that its a serious time capsule. You covered the absolute surface of the beauty of this game because thats all you knew, but im sure by now you've learned what promoting is and how much overclocks open the game up even further. This game is immense
I’ve got 2000 hours in this game. No game has ever lasted longer in my hard drive. And the algorithm keeps feeding these videos to me. And I keep watching them. I’d say the scout it underrated. The visibility he provides makes everything easier for the rest of the team and faster. It’s also a massive team DPS boost because everyone will see and engage the bugs much earlier. Actually critical at high difficulties because if you start engaging a large horse in flare radius, it’s already too late.
Grind makes sense for a looter shooter: it focuses on offering satisfying gameplay that you choose and combine, but you need something to motivate you to use it. Then you can tell yourself "i'll use that new combination i like for that mission", it's a pretext really. There is a moment in the game's progression that feels a bit slower on that side of things: when you've tried most of the game's guns/classes but haven't unlocked many overclocks yet. Those overcloccks either give a good boost to a weapon, a fun gimmick or twists the way it works entirely often unlocking synergies and making the game feel very fresh from time to time and you generally realize that after getting a few that you really end up liking
RUclips always recommends me videos of this game and it makes me so happy to see so many people enjoying it, the community seems so nice and fun... I wanna play this game so bad... But I have zero friends to play with and crippling fear of social interactions. Feels pretty bad, man.
Holy shit I was not expecting to see Doom Box and Chris P Bakon aka the elder gods of Guild Wars 1 content creators in your party at around 2:52 . Also I was gifted this game a while ago on steam and this has just swayed me towards giving it an actual go, great vid!
Man this Game has such a beautiful community. I needed to do a Salvage Operation and I wanted to do it on Haz 4. We failed 3 times. One of them stayed until we beat it on attempt 4 and 2 others joined 1 or 2 tries before, with a meteorite, whilst a Korlok Sprout we were too incompetent to defeat constantly sniped us. At the end we just dug a weird ass Mini Bunker with multiple tunnels, we all just sat there, killed everything coming in and were soo happy when we finally made it. And then we just played some more missions together. But between the Missions we literally just talked. Most of the time it was some random as beer bar speech, but it was so much fun. It was so much fun in fact, that as the first one had to leave, we made a little ritual and held a speech about what a wonderful person he was, until he just jumped into the burning fire on the top of the drop pod. The second sadly disconnected or something during the next match, he was just gone, and the last also had to leave after that match. We went to the Memorial Hall and talked. Nothing else. Then he left. Rincis. Homo. Feathers. If you're somehow reading this, I'll tell you again. It was an absolute blast playing with you. Goustave III will always remember you

It really is such an excellent practice. Incredibly commendable, and I’m glad they’re getting so much attention for it
I've played the game for a while and I must say, it's quite genius to have FOMO items randomly appear during missions. You even get rewarded with gold and other minerals when you find cargo/lost gear. But it is somewhat flawed that it's random. But I suppose it's better that way, as not to burn out on the lost gear/cargo grind.
@@Finppa
I personally can agree that the implementation is both novel yet not quite perfect, I'd like to see maybe perhaps the usage of a rare currency like Error Cubes to be a craftable that can get one cosmetic of any choice from the Cargo/Backpack loot table? At least some mechanic to lessen the RNG variables, nonethless it's still impressive that GSG went about it in a way far beyond most of their peers in the gaming industry.
Due to their track record of listening to the community? I have no doubts they'll address this aspect sooner or later.

There’s no repetitive aspect to the ‘grinding’, as every single unlockable in the game is just unlocked through standard gameplay.

cooperation while being task oriented IS the only means of survival... its basicly baked into the game, hell even in single player you get a little helper bot to direct, cuz without any commands it tries to hover as close to you while shooting bugs in your vicinity. of course more experienced players can get away with more fuckery and friendly trolling every now and then, but the point still stands...
I’ve mostly played with randoms, so I totally agree

Another thing that I reall like about drg is how much of an adrenaline rush it is.
In one moment you're doing a mission with not much threat ever showing up thinking that you're pretty good.
And then you're in the second stage of a deep dive, your scout has been swarmed, your driller and engineer have been eaten by a cave leech and 2 oppressors are chasing you while you're low on hp and out of shields, doing your hardest to clutch the game so that you don't screw up the deep dive.
True!!!! Once you graduate onto haz 4 and 5 it’s such a vastly different experience from the other difficulties
@@CNRMRY_YT I just want to kill alien bugs in cool ways.
DRG in a few sentences... hahaha
@@Corpah Better story than twilight
I started playing recently and on my first day, playing along even with randoms just feels right. During one of my missions we managed to survive a pretty bad wave. I finished off some bugs and intelligently passed on fire and survived with around 5% health left. I looked around and realized the engineer was staring at me, probably just as surprised that I had survived. BOTH of us just shouted at the same time: *_ROCK AND STONE, BROTHE_*
LMFAO that very well might have been me, I had an interaction IDENTICAL to that like 2 days ago or so

Just wanna make it clear for new players:
The fall damage reduction on engineer does NOT completely negate fall damage full stop.
I didn't know that actually, that's such a great practice
Most of them do; a few get added to the in-game cosmetic shop.

This game is actually perfect. The seasons last super long which is just enough to keep new players coming and new content rolling while not going so fast to where people who take a break from it get lost in a sea of new content.

For Karl.
This guy did a better job than me. If I didn’t convince you, maybe he can. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate you king
I've only seen like 2 toxic dwarves my whole career as a miner for deep rock. Really great game, Really great community. Rock and stone!

most toxic dwarf i ever met was someone i was introducing to the game who outright refused to say rock and stone, ask if people were ready drink beer, and got unreasonably salty over dwarf-elf racism to the point of going on a week+ long rant about how 'rock and stone' can somehow be connected to nazis.
like dude it's a dwarf game. what the hell.
Worst I've gotten was a guy who called us retarded cuz I was mining nitra(????) And then killed us and left
The permafk scout who I had neglected to kick kept the mission from failing, still in the drop pod, until a new guy joined us and we resumed the mission, eventually completing it
I have only ever had one who tried to ruin the mission, and team kill every body.
They really just did not miss
unironically being able to drink at the bar with other people is probably the sole reason this game got as big as it did.

Nice review, and glad to hear you're enjoying your time with it. Just remember you're here forever
Absolutely
I was actually pretty shocked to see that you only had 800 subs. This is some exceptional work and I thought you were one of the big dogs
800????????? I’m a little higher than that now but thanks man, much appreciated. Hopefully one day I will be.
omg that intro music timing rubbed me the right way thank you so much
That’s what I’m here for
Deep rock seems to be really favored by yt for whatever reason (cause its good) and SUPER well done review videos like this get push out WAY faster if the topic is deep rock.
great vid
ROCK & STONE BROTHER!
Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it :)
The algorythm caught up to the rising popularity of DRG
great video bro, i feel like this perfectly represents the game and ive been playing for like under a month, kudos
I appreciate it
Great video man, by the production value I thought your channel had some 500k+ subscribers. Really surprised me, hope you continue the good work.
All the best wishes!
Rock and stone!
I was not planning on stopping the good work. I appreciate you
I used to play this game a lot back with my friends in 2021 just hopped on it again & have been solo queuing I just did my first elite deep dive yesterday thanks for bringing more recognition to this amazing game
I just got into the game. I can’t believe how friendly the community is.
Buy it now.
Considered pinning this instead of my subscribe. This guy is on it.
Another amzing thing about DRG you didnt mention is the mod support. Karl be praised its really good.
They have 3 approval ratings depending on the mod:
1) Verified for mods that only effect personal accessability (sound files, UI setups) that dont affect base game level progression
2) Approved for mods that moderately change gameplay, but still retain normal ingame progression (harder difficulties, weapon rebalances)
3) Sandbox for mods that drastically change gameplay and ingame progression (instant unlocks, god weapons)
You can play verified and approved mod lobbys on your regular save file.
I wish I played the game back then, would have loved to see how it’s grown
I just started playing today, a little overwhelmed but having a blast, first mission i entered i met a pair of super high level bros who guided me through the new player intro stuff. Rock and Stone brother
It’s so good, I played the OG and didn’t pick it back up until Christmas. 100 account levels later, it’s so good. I wish there were more random assignments to do after you get classes promoted.
Agreed on the assignments thing, but I think the fact each of them kind of take a while makes up for it.
Drg is a really different game once you start unlocking OCs. Once I finished the push to unlock all weapons and their OCs, being able to experiment with all of them was a lot of fun
Real
This is crazy, thanks for the support y'all
I got goosebumps from the intro, i never loved game so much as Deep Rock...
Hey I am not new to the game, but I love it and I love finding people that just discovered it, and I am happy to know you enjoy it as much as I do. Rock and Stone !
Rock and stone brother
I have a buddy who will drop everything to play DRG the second I mention it. It is probably the most fun game I’ve played in a long time
I wish I had more friends that played haha
I would like to add that while Scout lacks the swarm clearing abilities of the other classes, Scout excels at taking care of high value targets that could disrupt the team (acid/web spitters are a great example)
Very true, i'm gonna work on promoting him once im done with engi
Looking forward to being that guy someday. The second one, not the teamkilling one
every time i am scrolling through my recommended section and i see a video talking about how great this game really is, it makes me smile. thank you, man.
Good to have more players. Pretty sure you are not supposed to ever drink leaf lovers beer as a tip. Always rock and stone.
I'll keep that in mind lmao
@@CNRMRY_YTIndeed. Blackout stout is Karl’s choice for sobering up quick!
@@brayerkh well I did know that

LETS GOOOOOOOOOO! Thanks for the sub, I really appreciate the kind words. Now get to work, miner.
@@CNRMRY_YT oh, you reminded me that I wanted to sub and forgot while writing the comment lol, subbed now, thank YOU for the good content!

Rock and stone to the bone, brother
While they can seem undergunned compared to other classes, the scout brings a lot of utility to the team and synergises really well with the engineer's platform launcher to easily reach minerals. He's also great at picking up downed teammates who are out of reach of other players.
iv started to classify the 4 classes into 2 combat 2 support with some exceptions here and there(engineer with fat boy grenade launcher for example)...
About that slow zipline - if you quickly attach/deattach to it by spamming keys repeatedly you can sort of glide on that zipline and move a bit faster, just carefoul as if you miss a button you fall
I didn’t know that, thanks medic
For some reason deep rock is that kind of game that you watch people play and think "It looks alright I guess.."
But then so many people praise the sh!t out of it you decide to give it a go, and you find yourself loving it way way more then you expected to.
Totally agreed. Words don’t really do it justice, and neither does gameplay. I think that’s why it took me so long to play it.
Almost everyone I have introduced this game to and seen on youtube seems to have that exact same reaction.
Someone agrees with me! Apparently his crossbow is really good for swarm
Hear me out, DRG swarm music is the new DOOM music.
Bro it is so good
you sold me, I just bought it
LFG!!!
Welcome brother. The game is so good it’s become my ENTIRE personality. ROCK AND STONE!
Hello scout from deep rock galactic, I apologize for my harsh words. ROCK AND STONE!
We are an aggressively friendly community and we’re glad to have you (yes there are a few bad apples but they are so few and far between that they don’t matter)
0:09 which game is that?
Sea of thieves
This video is very well done by an underrated youtube channel. Its good quality for someone with 600 subs, kind of surprising. Well done MINER!
I appreciate it!! Back to work, dwarf!
God damn not even 3k subscribers and this is pretty high quality keep up the good stuff man
brother this had to be one of the best edited retrospectives I've seen, great job my friend and keep up the content. Promise if you keep going like this you'll reach 10k in no time
The fact that u can pick ANY season and play it is just Poggers
ROCK AND STONE BROTHER! Happy to have you in the community, now get out there miner. We've got work to do.
Management will not be pleased
@@CNRMRY_YT lmao, that's great. I'm subbing you now man. Hope to see more of your content, and hopefully more DRG stuff!
Agreed, I didn’t mean grind negatively it, it works perfectly
Such good quality for a such a small channel. This deserves a sub. Rock and stone cnrmry.
I appreciate you
9:59 even though it was very short, thanks for walking in the memorial hall. To the fallen. And Rock and stone
Great high quality video. I'll watch your career with great interest. Also ++ for toxic avenger
Goustave III will always remember you
Instant sub. You are a diamond in the rough. Glad I found your channel.
I really appreciate it. So glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the sub king
That transition into gameplay was fire specially with that music!!!
First 10 seconds. Voice. And animation quality. Absolutely subbing.
I appreciate you ❤️
Had no idea they were Danish! Excuse me well I tell my Danish roommate, they're going to freak.
So glad you had a lot of fun with this game! It's a joy with friends.
