so i bought this monitor for my new pc that will delivery in around a month. already have the monitor and tried it very briefly to check if everything is ok... compared the sound to my imac - and i think it actually sounds better than the imac!? very surprising, very pleased.
Hi bro thanks for your super review. Does you feel that little high response time when playing FPS? I'm undecided between that BENQ sold for 340 right now or the LG gn800 sold for 260 rn. Which is the best? I'll play on the series S and X when available
Just bought this monitor and was wondering if I can use a thunderbolt 3 cable instead of the included usb-c cable. And also if I can get the 144hz refresh rate if I connect it to my Macbook 2020, or do I have to stick to the Macbook 60hz display settings?
Will there be a noticable difference between true g sync and g sync compatible when playing on a RTX 2080? Right now i tend to Viewsonic XG27qg because oif true g sync, but it will only be available in 4 months and costs 830€ in my country. But this monitor is already available.
Just got it today, can't wait to plug it in! Tnx for this review 👏🏼
DOPE!!😊🔥
How's it been, any issues? It's been on my top 5 list of "I'm buying whichever goes on sale and is actually in stock when it does" and was the first to go on sale (yesterday). I pulled the trigger, hopefully it will be here next week.
@@SM-ii8pg No issues whatsoever. All the reviews I saw about this monitor are positive, and it's the truth, great buy.
@@MI6online That's great to hear. I haven't seen an abundance of reviews in general, but I honestly don't recall any that are negative.
I get mine tomorrow, I'm too impatient though 😭
It appears this monitor has better contrast/blacks than the LG GL83A/850... is this correct?
How is the text clarity for coding?
What about IPS glow in the dark?
is the hdmi enough to run 144hz and enable gysnc? or do i need to use displayport? @tech hd
Displayport would be more recommended. HDMI 2.0 does support 144Hz at 1440p but I would still recommend Displayport
What about the big issues regardig ips panels, black light bleed??
There not much of Black Light Bleed unlike TN Panels. There still some but its not that noticeable at all
So you’re saying that I could hook up my MacBook Air to this monitor using the supplied USB-C and use it as an external monitor? I saw in the manual the USB-C port was for data transfer. I assumed for like transferring files.
It'll output the image as long as the Macbook pro lid isn't completely shut since it can't output power if you connect the usual charging usb c cable additionally with the one that comes with the monitor and then put it into clamshell mode you're fine (if you want to dock it in clamshell mode).
If you just want to use it as a second display it'll work fine, it just won't charge at the same time I'm assuming
is there an audio input port so you can use other devices on the speakers?
Unfortunately no
i will for sure use this for the ps5 , thanks for the review
No problem!
Got it for the series X, I highly recommend it
If the Xbox Series X can do 4K up to 120Hz, it should be able to handle 1440p at 120Hz at least
Hi just wanted to ask do u have to install the ouick start driver yo use the monitor or i csn just plug it in yo my console,i don't have a pc..thanks
Nope, you don't need to install any driver for the monitor👌👌
@@Tech_HD1 thank you..
How did it get the hdr 400 certification if it can only achieve 350 nits? 🤔
It goes up to 400 Nits when HDRi is enabled. 350 nits when its disabled
Hi, just wanna know what's your settings like contrast, sharpness while playing ps4 on this monitor?
hey i put mine on gamer 1 and 4k 2160 rgb and rgb full. black EQ 13 saturate 12, hdr modes are not good for me as is too dark and ps4 pro has issue with hdr mode as it flickers black screen in hdr mode randomly as is trying to upscale the console from a 2k display to 4k reselution
@@MIGHTYMO-bo9pg i see..so how's your experience so far with this monitor while playing using ps4 pro? i planning to buy this monitor.. :D
motherofgodlol1
Hi
Since I turned off the hdr and the setting I put which is gamer 1 and took off hdr the PS4 pro is great gaming on it . When I play call of duty or apex become of the black Eq and other setting I can play around with is great. I mainly got this for my pc but is great I can connect 1440p Xbox one s and PS4 pro. I recommend my setting as when hdr was enabled on PS4 and monitor I kept getting black screen flicker and I thought is the cable but it wasn’t. As I explained in this chat I think the monitor being 2k and console trying to emulate 4K causes issue so my setting has fixed the issue. I always wanted monitor for ips display and good for console and pc and I can change settings. In the setting above I can see enemy’s better and at first you might think oh this is terrible picture and is bright trust me after a few hours you start to love fact that how much better you see and play . I use this setting on my pc gaming too. I also do have another setting for story based game I can give you later if you need. Trust me you don’t need that hdri to enjoy this monitor . It was decent effort from benq but monitor itself I love. Just don’t need use the hdri to make everything dim. Is a shame as I wished they could allow you to turn of BI+ so it would fix it so than I could have fixed the hdr as I wanted. Only other way if you want hdr in this monitor change brightness in every game but won’t look that great in some games.
I do recommend and the monitor but just hdr thing was not good thing as it makes everything dim.
I have been through different monitor from 4K to 2k to 1080p and really like this monitor and I love the remote. This monitor has saved me space and I can console game 2 consoles and display port pc and I get decent response time and is ips so colours look great. Hope this helped you a little.
Hey Man! Question. Does this 2k monitor support supersampling on the ps4 pro?
Yes
@@Tech_HD1 thanks dude
Can ps4 pro run 4k on this one or supersampling.which can be better
4K Technically but it's like "Upscaling" but it still looks really good
Hello,
Can this monitor do 120hz and HDRi on the xbox series x? Love the video review. Thanks
Yes it can 👍🏽 Thank you! 😁
@@Tech_HD1 thanks. Which one would you recommend? The benq EX2780Q or the benq mobiuz ex2710?? I have the mobiuz ex2710 and I love it but I'm thinking about returning it and trying out the EX2780Q. I mainly game on the Xbox series x. What would you recommend? Thanks!!!!
Very nice review i own this monitor and you were spot on, it's simply a great monitor
Thank you! I really appreciate that 😁
What monitor settings you have ?
@@ofix3272 Mainly sRGB Mode 95% of the time lmao
@@Tech_HD1 how to turn srgb on ?
@@ofix3272 It's just a Color Mode that you can change too
Did it come with displayport cable?
Unfortunately no. Just an HDMI cable and USB C Cable
Hey, how were you able to enable Freesync on the monitor? I wasn't able to find the option in OSD settings nor in my Nvidia contorl panel (10 series)
Sexynacho44 update your driver to latest and make sure that’s you are using display port (hdmi not support sync)
Does the battery include on the remote?
Yup the battery already included 😁👍
Hi when I turn on hdr mode the br+ I cannot enable. How did you do it. I got the monitor yesterday and every he’s mode is so dim and is too dark on console or pc. Is like I can only I use standers mode to get decent quilts on display. The hdr will go dim Steiger away. Any advice please.
So when you enable HDR, it automatically enables the B.I+ so that's why you can't select it. You can test that by turning on and off the lights and you'll it adjusting the brightness. For me, I have the monitor set too "Gamer 2" preset because that's the closest color accuracy to my PD2700U with a bit of tweaking. But I also have it set too "Gamer 2" because it enables Black Equalizer so I can mess with that a bit to not have it be too dark or too bright. Then in the Game Settings with HDRi On, I mess with the brightness. But that's how I have my monitor set up
TECH HD - Gaming Tech Channel
Hi thank you for the reply. Yes that is what I have been using gamer 2. Put black EQUALIZER to 14 and saturate 10.
Gamer 2 is not that great with browsing and watching movies or RUclips and cinema hdr no good for me. Seems the hdri effect does not do justice to monitor.
Do you have any setting you can recommend for pc and console and when you watch movies and browsing what do you recommend?
I think the hdri is not betting idea for the monitor but other than that is great monitor.
@@MIGHTYMO-bo9pg For me, this is my setting
Brightness: 100
Contrast: 55
Sharpness: 10
Color Mode: Gamer 2
Black Equalizer: 13
Color Vibrance: 8
AMA: Premium
RGB PC Range: (0-255)
I found these settings to be the best for me when doing just normal stuff like browsing, RUclips, etc. I only enable HDDi when I'm gaming and I have the brightness on those games match when the HDRi is on. I haven't had a problem with Emulated HDR when watching Movies but I mainly enable it when I know what I'm watching supports HDR. Hopefully these settings will help you😊
TECH HD - Gaming Tech Channel
Thank you for the reply I will try it.
So when I enable hdr for gaming use hdr gaming with max brightness?
@@MIGHTYMO-bo9pg Yea but it'll automatically change the brightness because of B.I+
Would this be ok for ps5 as it can’t do 1440p can it would I be better getting 4K version
Yea major thing is it'll go from 4K to 1080p, no in between and since this doesn't support 4K, we'll see what's the cap in frame rate for 1080p
@@Tech_HD1 will you do a review with this monitor on ps5 id appreciate it very just hit subscribe and the bell 🔔 thanks
Thanks for the review! Is there any difference in quality between using a HDMI or a Display Port cable? Currently deciding between this and the LG GL850...
So the main difference is that it offers a higher refresh rate with a Displayport
TECH HD - Gaming Tech Channel Thank you! 👍👍
@@AppleUK2000 No problem😁👍
im also undecided between these 2 but reading comment im probably going LG GL850, since i am using amp and speaker already
So what monitor did you buy?
Does it support 4k and downsampling it to 1440p , looking this monitor for ps5
Natively it's 1440p. It can upscale to 4K but it won't be True 4K Quality and it'll cap at 60Hz since there no HDMI 2.1 for 120Hz
Gamer dj yes
Hi, how can this monitor display 4k for certain games? It's a 2k monitor right.
Right but like I said in the video, the consoles or devices are "Scaling" it to be "4K" but it's actually not so the monitor has nothing to do with that. I don't know why that is but it's not actual 4K Resolution
@@Tech_HD1 i see, so it's not true 4k. Thanks for the explanation.
@@MrVincentvalentine7 Right exactly👌👌
Which is better supersambling or scaling to 4k
Isn't there a neutral setting for the audio?
I want to get this, but as it is quite expensive, I am not sure I want to spend that much money for a 27 inch. If they made an exact same monitor, but 32 inches I wouldn't say no to it. I know there is a similar 32 inch model, but it is not exactly the same AND it is impossible to find it in this country. I currently have a 4K 40 inch monitor which I use at 1440p because its hdmi are only 1.4 and I can't stand 30 hz. Also I want something a bit smaller.
So I'm currently reviewing the EW3280U and that's a close model to this one but it's also $800 so not sure what your budget is
@@Tech_HD1 That's the 32 I was referring to. Much higher in price, but still not available here.
@@Trusteft Yea not yet
@@Trusteft What country
@@Tech_HD1 Greece.
I have the Aorus ad27qd.. pretty much good right
Yea, they are both very similar
@@Tech_HD1 so basically same with the LG 27gl850
Yea very similar concepts. Each monitor offer their individual features so it becomes a personal preference on what you like more
same panel and benq ama do better job
Somebody help me... this or the LG 27UK850-W? 😅
They are both really good but this one mainly for Gaming, the other one mainly for like Editing and Quality. The one to mainly compare it too is the PD2700U
Lg 27gl850 FTW cse benq stand sucks
I watch anime on an iPhone 10, would this be an upgrade if I started watching it on this?
Yea of course lol
@@Tech_HD1 Thankyou so much I’m gonna get it now
Is the code all used up lol? Plus would the code work with the sales? $599.99 on sale for $449.99 and using the code makes it $337.49?
I got a New Code for 10% off for a Limited Time if you are still interested. "TECHHD10"
@@Tech_HD1 Thank you, I'll pass for now. I decided to wait for new monitors to appear.
Just to confirm, this monitor accepts a 4K signal but down samples it back to 1440p?
That's great for people like me who play on a PS4 Pro as it doesn't support 1440p natively :D
It basically "Upscales" it but it's not true 4K. Think of it like getting a 1440p Video and Scaling it to be "4K." That's what the consoles are basically doing, not the monitor
@dannyx27 there is no point in getting a 2k 144hz monitor if you cant even run 1080 at 60 all the time
Max M on Xbox one x u can run 1080p 120hz
Does it come with optical port?
No, at that point you need to connect the optical cable to your PC or Console. I haven't seen a Monitor have a Optical Port, only TVs
@@Tech_HD1 thank you
@@haynteddybear3862 👍👍😁😁
Consistency 💯
Hey, i bought this computer monitor thanks to you. Can you recomment best Graphic Cards to take advantage of the BenQ EX2780Q Monitor. Best 3, With prices- Value- overkill, a reply would do the job, or if you can do a 3-4 minute video on best Gaming PC that takes advantage of this Monitor.
Thanks😁 So the main Graphic Cards I can recommend is an AMD. I'm not fully familiar with AMD GPUs but any that basically supports FreeSync because the Monitor supports that as well 👍👍
RX 5700. It's made for 1440p gaming and good for the price. Little extra will get you the XT version that should guarantee most games will run better without much tweaking in the settings.
For Overkill just get the most expensive one you can find 😂🤷🏾♂️. RTX 2080Ti(?) I believe...
@@justinpearson9170 lmao Yea basically
Any chance of getting a useable discount code for Amazon UK?
Unfortunately that's not up to me but I can try to ask and see if maybe BenQ can offer a code for the UK
So they said, at the time they have no plans to add a discount for the UK or outside the US. I'm sorry😭😭
BenQ EX2780Q or the LG 27GL850LG?
They are both very similar. Each monitor offer their individual features so it becomes a personal preference on what you like more
both have trash contrast
Lg for the stand
LG edges out and is cheaper msrp. However plenty of sales for benq now so go with whatever's cheaper At the time and available.
Promo Code doesn't work.
It might be done. It is limited time so lemme ask and see what BenQ says
why dont i have audio...
Could be the settings in the monitor or console
So I can't play Warzone at 1440p @ 144hz with this monitor?
On PC, correct
@@Tech_HD1 On PC ... I just ordered this monitor and an rtx 3080 to play warzone at 1440p 144hz ... please tell me I can play it please
@@Tech_HD1 I can just dial it back to 1440p right?
Yes, an RTX 3080 should be able to handle 1440p at 144Hz in Warzone. Also gotta make sure you have a great Processor too
One of the things i don't like is the entire screen isn't being used. There is a black frame around bezel. UGH COME ON!
That’s like 99% of the monitors 🤣 No Monitor really edge to edge. Would be cool to see though
Is this monitor good for ps5?
It'll work and is a great option because of the 1440p 144Hz and HDR Support. Only major thing that we'll find out is if you can set it to 1440p and how high of a frame rate because usually it's 4K and then 1080p below it and I don't know what's the cap in frame rate for 1080p
@@Tech_HD1 PS5 wont support 1440p native, but i think this monitor will get a 4k option in the ps5 settings and then downscale to 1440p and will still look good i guess.
Does this monitor also has a 4k option in the ps4 pro ?
Yea so it'll upscale but it won't be that "True 4K." It'll still look good and yes the PS4 Pro does it as well
@@Tech_HD1 Allright i am gonna wait for black friday and then buy it thanks for help
@@The_Zuko no problem bro😊👌
whats the point playing console on a 144 Hz Monitor??
Some Games on the Xbox can support 120 Hz. This is also good for future proofing for when the Next Gens come out. Can also use it for PC Gaming of course but I use the consoles as an example in my videos
Is this good for watching anime?
Yea it'll be fine
its only 350 nits

What about it
Ahhhhhhhh lol
BenQ..thanks but NOT worth it.
just so that everyone knows, this isnt a true native 1440p monitor. Its a 4k monitor with factory downscaled to 1440p as its cheaper & efficient to manufacture 4k panels. If you want true 1440p get LG 27GL850 or Aorus AD27QD
This monitor has the same innolux panel as the aorus
Sergio Guillén no it doesnt. It uses the LG’s new Nanocell IPS but LG’s one is native 1440p & this one isnt hence the lower price compared to 27GL850
