Does it get any better than Van Halen?! REST IN PEACE Eddie Van Halen! 🎸
This is, to me, the best Van Halen era.
Obviously
Was lucky enough to see this this tour two nights in a row in Dallas
1st 6 albums, Diamond Dave era. Can’t be matched!
It’s the only one that matters.
I feel so fortunate that I got to see VH live w/DLR 8 times starting in 1980. The 81 tour was definitely the best!
Another one of the legendary bands I was lucky enough to see live.
Mannnn!! That’s awesome! I bet they put on an epic live show and the room was electric! ⚡️
@@setonhillstudios oh ya, definitely another band I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to experience live. Those 80s HS / College years had a great soundtrack.
Ever get a chance to listen to the Prince - Loring Park Sessions ?
A reaction to Igor Paspalj - Breakneck would be great.
Drummer to drummer maybe check out some Steely Dan, an amazing list of great drummers worked on their albums.
I noticed your reaction to Phil Collins, ever listen to the old Genesis work?
Look forward to more reactions
@@thomasturner9188 I actually did a few Genesis reactions from The Midnight Special recently. Peter Gabriel was cracking me up! 🤣
And that boys is how its done!
Alex banging that gong while Eddie syncopating chords still gives me chills.
No doubt! So epic! Thanks for hanging out! 🔥
Michael Anthony has always been the secret weapon
100%
So good! 💯
BEST VAN HALEN ERA I WAS BLESSED TO SEE VAN HALEN AT THE US FESTIVAL IN CALIFORNIA 1983
Let’s gooooo! I bet that was a blast!
My favorite band pure talent
Such a talented band!! This performance was so good! 🔥
Live in Oakland where this video came from supposedly there are only 3 songs that were worth saving SO THIS IS LOVE & HEAR ABOUT IT LATER
Love your reaction! Van Halen was the best band live ever!
So good! Just phenomenal in every spot! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for hanging out!
I've seen Van halen several times, at one point it felt like they were the summer party every summer during the 80s and 90s...The key to the the rhythm section is Alex alway played to Ed's guitar, that's the reason why people think he played behind the beat. Al also would do things like play the cymbals quieter and more contained to accentuate the guitar part. Al was a critical listener to what was being played. Some drummers throw down the grove and everyone plays to that, not the case with Van Halen. If you look at the final Van Halen tour in 2015 they were so incredibly tight, 3 Van Halen's all of whom were drummers, Ed and Wolf both Drummers first.
Nobody was touching this band live in their prime
There will never be another band again as great as the mighty Van Halen.I was fortunate enough to live through the VH years.
So EPIC!!! 🔥🔥🔥
THE GREATEST GUITARIST IN HISTORY EVETR THIS SHOULD PROVE IT ..ALEX VAN HALEN ALSO UP THERE
Diamond Dave all day every day
The perfect rock star and one of the best frontmen in music history.
I've seen them three times live
Saw them live in 06 or 07 Wolfgang just started playing bass for them. Michael Anthony was missed. His backing vocals added something
I do want to check out some of Wolfgang’s new stuff though. Heard it’s great!
@@setonhillstudios he’s definitely talented but back then he was like 15 or 16 or something. Kinda rusty. Wasn’t the same
@@MrRaErickson Of course! And Michael Anthony is one of a kind!
My all time fav band! Seen em in 82,84 and 2004’ you are so right about Michael Anthony his singing and playing are so good! R.I.P. KING EDWARD ❤️🙏🏼🎸
The whole "Fair Warning" album is serious shit!
I don't know why people get so hung up on which Van Halen was better. I loved both! The Roth era was so raw and organic, and Eddies tone was so hard and driven. And the Sammy era was polished but edgy and Eddie was experimenting with different sounds and equipment. Both were perfect for their time! I miss both those days. Long live The Mighty Van Halen.
RIP EDDIE
Could not agree more.
Saw this tour. This was the first encore, IIRC. Yeah, we were effing amped, all right :-)
VH were a much harder rocking band between 1978 - 1984. During the Hagar years, they incorporated more keyboards and a different type of songwriting into their sound. I personally enjoyed the DLR era but i appreciate some songs from the Van Hagar period also.
"Out of Love Again" is the most insane Alex VH recorded song. A drummer's dream. His performance is amazing. A must to check out!
VH is definitely one of those bands I wish I'd had a chance to go see live. I've watch a few concert videos of them and the shows were just epic.
No one and I mean no one is better than diamond Dave and his squeal✌️ you should check out Mammoth Eddie's sons band and the video for " don't back down" you will dig it because Wolfgang Van Halen plays every instrument 🤘
Yes I agree 100% with this! I'm fan of Wolfie too. At the very end of don't back down the last 2 notes he plays is the same last two notes from VH's " so this is love ". Those music videos are sequels. Don't back down, another celebration at the end of the world & I'm alright. Definitely check these out!
Van Halen and KISS have a connection, it was Gene Simmons who produced and financed the demo's for their first album in 1976.
What?! My mind is blown! 🤯 I have never heard that in my life! Super cool!
@@setonhillstudios Paul Stanley also wanted to produce Bon Jovi's "Slippery When Wet" album, because Paul was impressed by the band when they opened for KISS. But he gave them Desmond Child's number, who wrote for them their biggest hits for that album. Slash from Guns and Roses actually almost joined KISS but he was too young yet, Paul also nearly produced GnR's debut album.
@@NecramoniumVideo Wow! KISS had their hands in so many things in the music world! So cool!
I’ve been blessed to be able to see Van Halen 4 times, twice with David Lee Roth(1980’s) and twice with Sammy. Enjoyed both versions of VH
EPIC!!!!!!!! I used to watch MTV all day just to hopefully catch this video! It's my all time favorite by far. That ending lick by Eddie is so ferocious it makes my hair stand up (the little I have left) and the Fire Gong are classic. VH was my jam when I was a teenager. Man I miss them.
Definitely a banger! Thanks for watching with me!
YES!!!! You played this one. This is a good one & the time they performed this song during their last tour in 2015 on Jimmy Kimmel live is also a good one too, just great to see them years later along with Eddie's son Wolfie. Also yes i was very fortunate to see them live with DLR twice in 2007 & 2015. Im also going to be seeing the Sammy Hagar best of all worlds tour ( tribute to VH ) next weekend. The tour is Sammy, Michael Anthony, Joe Satrini & Jason Bonham. I am super excited!
Oh wow! Thats gonna be a blast! Loved this performance and they were all at the top of their game! So much talent! Thanks for watching!
I saw them the following year…and I saw them two more times in the Sammy era.
Alex and Eddie began being trained as concert pianists at an early age….and then Alex started playing guitar and Eddie began playing drums…they eventually switched….they even had a band with two other brothers that were kids from the neighborhood, called “The Broken Combs”.
Their father was a professional jazz musician who played clarinet and saxophone and I think their mother played piano.
This is what made Van Halen...Van Halen. Dave was an amazing front man, Eddie was well....Eddie....Micheal on Bass with the backing vocals.....and Alex killing it on the drums.
This is the Dave we loved......the one you see now, not so much.
So great real rock guys first up before guns and roses they were awesome especially in this era!
That crowd is ampt in more ways than one , 😆 🤣 😂 😹 just the times. Lost track how many times of how many times I've seen them , I was 16 or 17 when they went big. RIP EDDIE, MISS YOU. Sammy and David were equally talented in their own ways. ❤❤❤❤❤
Pound for Pound that is the greatest live music performance EVER. I would put that up against ANYTHING
Mean Street!!!! Saw them on this tour. Favorite album.
When 🔥Van Halen🔥 hit the scene in 1978 🤟🏼
They reset the bar very very high on live performances and as a three-piece band with the frontman in nother words before then there was pretty much two guitar players per band a rhythm and I lead player , single guitar players in bands we're un heard of at that time
And it forever change music and I'm talking about each one of them as individuals too , they were all epic at their craft no doubt about it
R.I.P. 🌹EDWARD🌹
Hi, Yes, I was able and blessed to have seen Van Halen in concert. I want to add that in Led Zeppelin 1975 MSG CONCERT, John Bonham lit his gong on fire 🔥 ✔️ it out!
Check out little guitars , mean street and Sunday afternoon in the park by Van Halen. Also check out Black and Blue and Finish what you started by Van Hagar 🤘🏻
Too cool I noticed Dave didn't come in singing where he was suppose to so Eddie just played back into the intro riff one more count
Oh wow! I missed that Tony! I definitely have to watch it back again! Eddie was UNREAL! 🔥
I HAVE SEEN VAN HALEN A FEW YEARS AGO AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES AT NORTH MYRTLE BEACH WITH GARY CHERONE FROM EXTREME AS LEAD SINGER. THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE SHOW WAS WHEN EDDIE PUT HIS HEAD UP AGAINST THE SPEAKERS WHILE PLAYING ERUPTION!!! AMAZING ‘NUFF SAID
I saw VH on 7/4/1998 and while it wasn’t quite the same as this, I definitely got tears in my eyes watching Edward Van Halen’s guitar solo that night. Standout memory for sure.
Guitarist and singer Eddie Van Halen formed the band Van Halen in 1974 with his brother Alex. His quick-fingered guitar riffs and singer David Lee Roth's onstage antics caught the eye of Kiss bass guitarist Gene Simmons in 1977, and he funded and produced their first recording session.
One of the best examples of Mike Anthony live harmonies is the song "Black and Blue" live in Tokyo 1989. Unreal. Enjoy your journey down the VH rabbit hole!
Thanks for the recommendation and swinging by the channel! Such a talented band!
IM LUCKIEST GUY IN THE WORLD I SAW VAN HALEN AT THE US FESTIVAL IN 1983 CALIFORNIA
Fair Warning tour... Insane..best era
I have seen them in concert David Lee Roth
Let’s gooooo! I bet it was a blast!
1981 i was 19 when was recorded can i go back to that year please
While the early VH with DLR is the best version (in my opinion), you should check out the "One Way to Rock" opener from the 1986 "Live Without a Net" video. That was shot just after Sammy Hagar joined the band. It's smokin'!
I saw them twice with DLR and 4 times with Sammy! First time was Diver Down in 1982 ( Dave seemed wasted) but they put on a good show! 1984 was excellent!! Sammy was always strong in concert, but their first tour 5150 was my favorite live show. I preferred the DLR era more for their albums, but I think they perfected their live sound in the Sammy era!!
🌸 so after Van Halen later in years, David Lee Roth was a paramedic in New York City.... I always laugh when I think to myself what would it be like to need paramedics and then have David Lee Roth show up?
Haha 😂🤣 You would probably think you’ve slipped into a coma or you are crossing over to the other side!
Saw them at Anaheim stadium when they parachuted into venue before breaking into Jamie's crying also saw them at los angeles coliseum drive tank into backstage and run over vw might VH Eddie van halen is the Goat!
I know you probably can't put it on the channel but Dave just posted a partial unplugged version of Mean Street on his channel a day or two ago 🤘
Oh wow! I’ll have to check it out! Thanks!
they are and always will be known as the original bad boys of rock!!!!!! both versions of VH had its place. i dont prefer one over the other, killer tunes out of both camps. i just joined your channel, i like how you do things on here, ive been enjoing the content, keep up the killer work!
Really appreciate the kind words and thanks for hanging out! Just having fun checking out some killer tunes!
Well done.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! They absolutely rocked this one! 🔥
Check out "Romeo Delight" from their Women And Children First album. Will blow your mind. Metallica before there was a Metallica.
Long live Rock N' Roll. VH ain't KISS though.
Both are pretty EPiC!!!
yes they are
Awesome video!! Check out the other two videos from this live video -- So This is Love and Hear About it Later
Thanks for the recommendations!
Let's gooooo!
You know it! 🔥
@@setonhillstudios love your videos man. Your enthusiasm is contagious.
@@1968spikey Really does mean alot! So cool to know I’m giving out alittle bit of joy! Especially in today’s world with so much craziness! Stay blessed! 🙏🏻
Jaja eddie fails on intro!! Doesnt matter. Love you eddie
This is the era, right here. The next two albums with Dave were trash imo. I liked Sammy. He was a great choice. But they could never duplicate the power from the first four albums, nor did they try. They expanded into new areas - some good, some not so good. But the legendary band led by two amazing musician brothers will always be at the top for me. 🤘🤘
This was such a great debut album. I saw them live a couple of times with and without DLR. He was such a great frontman. Better than Sammy although I do like quite a few songs done with Sammy. That being said please do Ice Cream Man from this album. The studio version. I feel it’s their most fun song.
Thanks for the recommendation! So many great tunes from them! 🔥
This is great man, but you have to react, some Song from right here right Now live tour........poundcake, right now,the dream is over....etc.....(with Sammy Hagar)
Van Halen have sold 34 million albums with Roth as opposed to 18 million with Hagar. Check the RIAA numbers if you don't believe. In addition the reunion tour with Roth in '07 blew the reunion tour in '04 with Hagar away in every way possible including: average tickets sold per night, total tickets sold for the tour, and gross revenue (source is Pollstar). It wasn't even close, the reunion with Roth in '07 was VH's biggest tour ever by a wide margin.
Sammy Hagar (and his fans) have always been intensely jealous of David Lee Roth because they know the numbers don't lie. Van Halen's legacy as a band with always lie with David Lee Roth. Eddie even admitted shortly after VH fired Hagar in the mid 90s that Warner Brothers originally wanted to release 2 separate greatest hits albums in 1996, one with only Roth era songs, and one with only Hagar era songs, to be sold separately. And Eddie said Hagar basically went ballistic because he was scared the Roth CD would outsell his, and it WOULD HAVE.
Eddie also admitted in an interview several years before he died that the public didn't really consider it to be the real VH unless Roth was fronting the band. And Roth is widely considered to be one of the greatest front men in rock history, he's an individual legend. Hagar is only relevant because he was in VH.
Van Halen are in the R&Roll Hall Of Fame because of what they did from 1978-1984, and everyone knows this to be true. Roth is king.
🤘RIPEVH🤘
🤘5150🤘
just watching Alex drum makes me really really tired lol
Haha 🤣 No doubt about it!
David i found out major horn dog he gave the crew back stage passes to give out to hotties he'd pay them 100 bucks for each one that came back
Shewee! 😳 Definitely some wild times!
Roth: helluva frontman...awful singer
Hagar: One of the best vocalists ever....and played a mean guitar as well.
Weren't you in Tokyo Drift???
🤣😂🤣 That cracked me up!
I don’t subscribe to much, but I did subscribe to this channel. I would like you to check out some early Black Sabbath or some Led Zeppelin. I think they will blow your mind. There is also a band called Savatage. Albums, Hall of the Mountain King or Gutter Ballet, They may be just your style actually.
Thanks for the sub and the suggestions! We got a few Sabbath and Zeppelin tunes on the channel. On our homepage click on the playlist ‘Bands • Groups.’ Thanks for hanging!
DLR erar of band very much heavier and badd ass no damn why can't this be love I do not like love songs at 62 wife left 2008 ive been cursed always put in friend zone
This was when VH were Metal gods , but they came down to Earth after 1984.
