Lucas has been a huge inspiration of mine. Under 2 years into shooting now. Work 28 days a month, 56hrs a week. I dry fire 1-6hrs a day, 30min at minimum. 3 days I haven’t, was when my child was born. It’s a passion, to the point of obsession. I’m coming for you Lucas 🙂

And Lucas is right about shooters making better content. In fact, Pieter Malan (Impact Shooting on RUclips) is one of the main reasons I got interested in bolt guns, built a PRS rig, and became a devoted Vortex guy after being raised around guys that only shot Luepold and Nikon. I’d LOVE to see him on this podcast. He makes truly fantastic hunting/safari content as well as PRS/ELR content and reloading content. Not to mention he’s a PRS champion and sponsored by Vortex South Africa…probably y’all’s best brand ambassador I’ve ever come across.
I have always been into guns & shooting, but only stuck to the hunting side of things because I didn't feel comfortable with the tactical community. I used to feel that was a place for ex military guys, or current law enforcement, or crazy preppers. But Lucas opened up doors for regular civilians to feel comfortable in this space to take advantage of the rights we have. Plus he was my age and not some older ex navy seal. He's a regular dude that was damn good at shooting and he definitely inspired me to expand my knowledge and skills.
Unfortunately the gun community can be just as toxic as the car and motorcycle community. Especially if you weren’t prior military. But Lucas and garand thumb have helped me flip the switch to get devoted to training. I trained before but now they helped light the fire for me to go out and helped me to find the drive to get as good as I can get so I thank you guys!

I'm considerably older and have been training longer than he has and I'm always learning something from his videos. It's good tactical and political content. On top of that his company sells solid products at fair prices.

Man, Lucas can be annoying at times but what a great story and they do such a great job. Half my kit, probably more than half my kit is T. Rex arms and it all runs great. Well thought out and quality materials . And more than that, the way the Botkin brothers support 2A and the community and inform people on different laws, products, ideas is inspiring. I still think Lucas can be an annoying nerd a lot of the time but I have grown to love it.
Envious and respect towards Lucas’s demeanor and mindset. Really encourages you to hold yourself to a higher standard not just with firearms but with how you interact and view everything in life.

Been watching Lucas for a lot longer than I have Vortex, however, Jim, Mark and Ryan have been able to show me a wider breadth of topics that I’m more interested in. It went Haley Strategic - Garand Thumb - T Rex arms for holsters and lights- Vortex for the red dot, viper 1-6, Viper HS, new knockers and so on. You guys have a deeper character pool. Still waiting for more Chef Virgil content. Not a man crush, I’m just hungry.
Love what Lucas and TRex does for the space. I don’t know if I would be nearly as into the hobby as I am now without him. It’s definitely a good thing in my mind when younger kids are wanting to play air soft and have guns that resemble real ones. It means that they’re interested in the guns they see in the video games and when they’re older they will most likely be supportive of the right to own guns. My experience with air soft guns when I was younger was just me and my friends having a spring loaded pistol that we would shoot each other in the ass with when least expecting. Wish we kinda got more into it. Admittedly I was one of the ones who didn’t really wanna get into it because I had access to shooting actual guns via my dad.

I've got a sr1911A1 and am planning on either getting a Dessert egle 44mag, or at the very least another sr1911, i carry 24/7 and i pratice drawing and some times dry firing and some live fire, I'm a self taught shooter ,but did a lot of shooting a long time ago when i was in the Army,and was in the 180th infantry, then the 82nd airborne & snipper school,but it's been a long time ago
I've been purchasing Trex products for about a year now. I have the original sidecar for my Glock 19 and also an OWB holster called the Ragnarok for that gun and plan on getting the suppressor capable Ragnarok once my can is out of jail. I found out about T.Rex Arms from my neighbor who bought their orion belt all kitted out. I peiced mine together months later as their stuff came in stock and have been buying stuff that they make or carry ever since. Ironically, I've never bought one of their holsters lol.
Wow! I always wondered why the Tyrannosaurus Rex had small arms. After half an hour I figured out the title was a hook. I was listening on headphones with my eyes closed. I enjoyed the talk, liked and subscribed, but I never heard the story of the tyrannosaurus rex arms. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why the guy doing the videos looked older than the guy in the ball capo. I thought it was the hat or the sunglasses. Just recently I figured out that Lucas has an older brother! I love their content. I watch all of it and I've learned a lot.

Talking about shooting standards being raised using Instagram - sure you could argue that people shouldn't be chasing only the fastest time and posting only their best drills, but before instagram people weren't even doing drills. So even if a person is doing the same drill 20 times to get the best time to post, they are still doing more than they were, and the fact they are sharing it is helping share the culture which will grow the culture.
Physical fitness is critically important. Everyone in the military and law enforcement knows that before you can get intimate with a firearm, you must first start the foundation of fitness and situational awareness. Too may civilians think that simply owning a firearm with little to no formal dynamic training trumps everything.
I think the biggest influence Lucas has had on me is he showed the world that you don't have to be MIL/LE or have to go to a million classes to be a great shooter. I used to have the mentality (that is still pervasive) that shooting and tactics are only for MIL/LE. "Only cops can be the experts" many people still say or believe at least subconsciously.
I was in the military and I’ll tell you rn civilians are 100x better shooters than we were. Our training on marksmanship is soooo minimal and me being in the infantry - were not actually on the range as much as people think (which actually bothered me a lot) and you’d be so surprised where in the infantry, the “standard” is to qualify as expert marksman during qualification and so many guys would get less than that. I would dry fire a ton when there was nothing to do in the company and no training was happening and that is what lead me to shooting expert when I would quailify. When I got out and had the freedom to shoot and train whenever I wanted, my skills increased dramaticallly

@@musicman1eanda its sadly all logistics, budget, money, etc. I think if more money was dumped into training we could be at the range alot more than we were. If the daily life of the infantryman when youre not doing squad/platoon movements or squad attack was doing PT, shower, shaving, breakfast, going back to work to draw your weapon and load up on the trucks to head out to the range and literally just go to town and train and practice and figure out things that work and dont work - life would have been much better. Theres alot of times wed be at the company just sitting there with nothing to do and sitting on our phones. Typically because PLs and COs are doing admin stuff and were just kinda there - but we could have really utilized that time to go out to ranges and do some cool shit
Been using both of your companies for quite some time for my personal gear... A thought... you need to work out a pkg for some of us where it is a LPVO scope and a Viper/Venom style red dot as well as the mounts for an AR style rifle (complete with mounts/offset mount). Just a thought!
The firearms and airsoft communities should collaborate on more recoil realistic airsoft guns and should actually put training events and exercises for people to practice safely without needing a flat range and expensive ammo. There is a product I saw recently that converts your actual handgun to co2. It does not and cannot fire any projectile but it does provide real recoil in a safe manner
Not talking junk lol, but damn i wish i had more to hunt, fish, and shoot. Hell just spend more time outside other than work. But 50+ hours a week and family time makes that difficult. When my son gets a little older i will be able to do more and involve him more. We all got our time and responsibilities, but if we want to do something more we have to work towards it and make the time.. hell im bad about making excuses, and im sure alot of us are. Hmmm I'm hoping this farm kid from TN was collaborating on a sweet project with Vortex. I really appreciate what aimbotkin has been doing. Not enough people in the community working to build a culture of gun ownership. I do think there needs to be more focus on philosophy and the "conservative" arts.

There is a product I saw recently that converts your actual handgun to co2. It does not and cannot fire any projectile but it does provide real recoil in a safe manner

Not talking junk lol, but damn i wish i had more to hunt, fish, and shoot. Hell just spend more time outside other than work. But 50+ hours a week and family time makes that difficult. When my son gets a little older i will be able to do more and involve him more. We all got our time and responsibilities, but if we want to do something more we have to work towards it and make the time.. hell im bad about making excuses, and im sure alot of us are.
