One of the greatest comic legends of all time. I remember Henry Rollins saying the same thing about George Carlin having doubts about his set. Im sure every great comic thinks this.
Please don't equate Carlin to anyone else. There is no comparison for him. Ever. At all. For so many reasons. And every human has doubts....JESUS the human-God had doubts. So cmon man....
@@yoholmes273 get over yourself. There are many comedians equal too or greater than Carlin. And I love Carlin. But I am not blind enough to think he was the only one to have done it the best. The best comedians take you through the journey in their own style.
@ethnographic1 "equal to or greater to".... Oh really. Yes please, do name them all. Name all the comics whose set , Triggered a Supreme Court case over free speech. Or a comic who hosted day 1, of Saturday Night Live. Or the comics that appeared on The Tonight Show over 130 times. Or the comics who produced 14 hour long HBO specials. Please do....name all these comics. I can't wait to "get over myself". Please name all of them....I'll wait...🍿
Psychoactives don't endow talent to those who don't already have it. Of course you still own it, it came from you. The Beatles wouldn't have done what they did without using various stuff, but obviously it came from them. Plenty of users never make anything but a mess of themselves. It's up to everyone to be honest about the pros and cons for them individually. If it's just herb and it's not destructive to you and it makes you more creative...tbh it seems silly to forego that.
Bill Hicks had the bit about the Beatles and drugs. I am positive that people like the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix were amazing musicians when sober, but drugs enhanced their creativity. I am sure comedy is the same. Look at Stephen King. He admits he was on heavy alcohol and coke when he wrote his best books.
Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die.....thank the Heavens One Our Grandfathers of Music enjoyed a lil Morher Nature, during His Earthly Tour ....cause Lives were changed.....fer the better...even Mr. Ron White knows that!!!...to each their own i reckon... it's really ok ..at times even dangerously fun!!...try not to lose any teeth, or hurt anybody....please be careful out there.....Uncle really does love u....even if it's like a Farm Animal.....❤
That's more or less why he didn't get picked for SNL. They already had Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, etc. but Jim Carrey would have changed the whole tone of the show and overpowered even those great performers. He fit in better on In Living Color where he could do extremely weird stuff but it worked.
3:24// I have an idea. when ever a comic were to be using (mary jane) that comic would be able to mention their 'tonight's performance is brought to u by (name of the weed brand)' and then mention the Next Night's performance will be sponsored by Another Brand two different sponsors, two different nights, two brands, two different performances same comic But being true to the real sponsor of their show & tell Jim's talk helps brings new business models to the front side of storefronts. thanks for the inspiring story
Yeah, but now weed is legal just about everywhere and shows where they want you to smoke weed on stage. I don't know. Times have changed. I did a show where the comedians all do shrooms and do their comedy. IT was a great show. Partially the shrooms helped, but can I do that anytime, yeah, but it definitely gave my brain more clarity. But my brain is also messed up.
Yeah, I don't feel weed is as dangerous as some will lead you or me to believe. People who want to use harder drugs are going to use harder drugs for whatever reason. And I certainly don't have the personal knowledge or education to go in-depth as to why. With that said, my interpretation of Richard's advice is more applicable to the dangerous road of experimenting with the harder stuff such as, heroin, cocaine, ect. Anyway, just my two cents. 🙂
Ahhhh, Jim's dad was a jazz musician. That explains alot. 😎
I thought it would be "Don't light yourself on fire."

Never really got Pryor. But to each their own

Both sad and uplifting but with a clear message.

Damn, Robin Williams & Richard Pryor in the same comedy room
Jim Carrey Comedy History Honest Truth Shit

Yep. He doesn't even remember writing It, Cujo, or The Green Mile, and had to put tissue in his nose to stop blood from dripping on his typewriter.
And now he doesn’t take credit for anything whatsoever how wild

It'd be a show of respect if you could spell the guy's name right
Dat wright dat he says tings den donna spell dat rong.
Carrey had too much talent even in the eighties. He must have been quietly cut from so many gigs just not to overpower the other comics.
Yes he did in the late eighties

Concerned about performance enhancing drugs? There should be blood tests before every set
Not to be pedantic but it's spelled Carrey.
You believe he spelled Jimm's name wrong?

GB Shaw days the exact opposite.
AS an artist...Ive always OWNED it. Regardless.
CArrey has NEVER grown up.
Grown ups know....
Weed?!....I thought he was gonna warn you about the dangers of freebasing and you incorporated that into your firemam act....
Sorry, that's bs. Weed doesn't change u into a different person. It just intensifies certain aspects of u. U could still "own it."
Very good, very good.
I wish he would come back to Twitter, Instagram, anything. We miss his voice
😂😂
Disagree..but to each his own.
This is just way to silly. It's Cannabis, not hard core drugs. Give me a break...
His putting cannabis in the same league with heroin makes his whole spiel suspect. What a joke.
All SNL is based on drugs it seems, not real sense of humor
I'm more interested in what his unsolicited opinions are on climate change.
or gun ownership
Nobody told him to stay out of politics or you career will wither on the vine.
You're not very smart
Name a good movie since 2012. Go ahead, I'll wait.@@rodneypratt4324
