    Many thumbs up from a 56 year old here in China. I did ten years of goatsteading, failed, and am operating a coffee shop now. I like your videos, and respect you and your wife very much. Your talk about water being the most important thing is absolutely right. Thanks again for all the great information you provide.

    I belong to a unity garden in South Bend Indiana and they use honey bee plus mason bee last year they worked great. We give fresh produce to food pantry in our city plus the delivery to disabled people. Remember safety is number one on your homestead.

    The difference between homesteading and farming got lost in all that other stuff.

      Missed the mark on this one, I will admit. We have come to the conclusion that we are farmsteading as we are not making our full income from farming but we do produce a profit and sell farm goods more so than the typical homesteader.

    Apiculture is probable one of the most underrated forms of income; not very complicated, but it can all easily go down the drain.

    I don't like to label it, the less money I spend at the Local Store the better. I have 2 Children with rare Digestive issues ( Genetic ) , and we have that Fresh from home helps better than Store bought.

    With a hundred Acres wouldn’t a few beef/ milk cows be pretty easy to raise as well?

      I don't have enough cleared land for that yet. 95 acres is all forest land.

      Red Tool House - Homestead ok, I wasn't sure. Kinda looked like you did the farmstead full time by the amount of animals you have. I to had my own business for more than 30 years until I decided to go in a different direction.

    Homesteaders are just farmers that don't grow their own feed and bedding but still obsessively tell their facebook friends that they are "starting a sustainability revolution and are growing everything we need." Also they usually resent the farmers they buy their feed from, and will talk to you all day about the evils of "big ag" while still getting half their groceries from the store.

    • @malaciousmark3903
      @malaciousmark3903 2 года назад

      a little more narcissistic then my view but is some truth in it. It often seems like homesteaders resent farmers who’s sole income is their farm. Joel salitan is a good example. He talks bad about all the other big farmers and was on food inc which is pretty much propaganda against farmers.
      I understand that homesteaders believe their method to be better but they are on the same side as farmers. We’re all out to produce food and products for others from the land we just have different ways of getting their.
