    I am the proud owner of two sibling English Cockers and they are 5 months old.
    I have found that I must train them individually but they also need time to get the Zoomies as I call it out of their system.
    Training Gundogs is new to me so advice and Tips are welcome as I realize I need training first.
    Thanks for a short informative video

    I really enjoy these videos.
    I’d love to see how you teach Spaniels to stay close and not stray too far from you.

    Really struggling with heal walking with my 17 week old. Previously my training produced great heal work at this age. This springer has other ideas! This video helped me. My tug was upward and I stressed every time I did it. So I’m sure he picked up that. Will try tm with downward tug and more positive voice. It’s so hard when they’re doing it wrong to have a positive session.

      All the best with your training, hopefully this and other videos will help. It won’t be easy but you’ll get there with time & consistency

    What a great channel! We have a 12 week old cocker, and I am looking forward to training him the right way. Your video will certainly help with that. We are one week away from being to take him out walking in the big wide world. I have start to try and get him use to a slip lead. But currently he just bites it. Is there anything I can do? I am not walking him with on, I just stand there waiting for him to calm down, but he doesn’t. Is it a case of hard work and keep trying?

    Is there an age too early to start slip lead training? My puppy is 9 weeks old.

    Really like your channel I have noticed you don’t use treats to reward good behaviour. Do you just reward with play, favourite toys etc

    When is the best time to start work on heel? i have a 3 month old and a 6 month old both cockers, currenlty wokring on lead heel with my 6 month old and he is doing OK all pulling as stopped and he is more controlled, think im going to start the younger one as soon a possible.

    My cocker spaniel is 15months old and is a nightmare, she only walks to heel for 5mins and then she's off sniffing. Any suggestions?? I've tried rewarding her with treats.

    Do you have any advice for if the dog starts biting the lead?

    • @MordorGundogs22
      @MordorGundogs22  Год назад +3

      Usually I try to ignore it as the more you correct the dog the more of a thing you make out of it. Try being more fun and interesting so they watch you and forget the lead

      @@MordorGundogs22Thankyou for responding, and yes that’s what we noticed! Think the lead work for our 5 month old is going to take a while. She’s very hard hunting so wants to pull for even the smallest of things.

    Schon gut für einen jungen Hund,aber richtiges bei Fuß gehen ist halt lange Strecke nur gerade aus kurzer Richtungsänderung machen den Hund aufmerksam zum langen ruhig geradeaus laufen ein Video wäre super

    Why do you train to keep him on the left side.?

    • @MordorGundogs22
      @MordorGundogs22  Год назад +3

      Why on the left - traditionally they are on the left as most people are right handed so they carry their gun on the right. We don’t want the dog getting bonked on the head by the gun ! It has created a habit and we stuck with it. If you prefer right then it makes no difference just be consistent

    Can I ask what lead you are using? Is one type of lead better than the other for training? Thanks.

    • @MordorGundogs22
      @MordorGundogs22  Год назад

      It’s a slip lead being used in this video and it’s what’s used predominantly, I’d say it’s your best choice while training.
