I've finally found it! I heard this song *once* in a clothing store in 1996. I'll never forget that feeling: looking up at the speaker hanging in the shop with sounds like a frenetic revolution was happening. The melody has haunted me for DECADES. The desire to find this song and hear it again got so intense that in 2006 I recorded my own version, based on this singular hearing from 10 years before. Now *25 years later* I am finally hearing it again! It's truly challenging to express the joy of this moment.
Thank you for your perseverance Spicy, and presence of mind
I know how you feel. Now that we experience the blessings of the RUclips this goes up on infinite loop.
Where's the Mr. Natural?
Peace.
@@CornershopHQ Love you! Swasti!
SGMKJ Shakti leads to Samadhi.
Seva leads to Gurukrpa!
Saw them perform this song at Lollapalooza in Vermont. Mind blowing. I'll never forget.
Same experience! I waited more than 10 years.... RUclips is a real timemachine!
I feel this band was so ahead of its time that people could not really understand what they were about back then. Great revolutionary visionary group
I saw Cornershop live and they did about a 20 minute version of this. It was pure bliss!
One of my favourite songs of all times and I don't even know what's it about!
Had to comment again...after 20 years trying too find this work of art song I seriously can't stop grooving too it..🤟🤟🤟 cornershop you are god's 🙏🙏thank you🤟🤟✌️✌️👍👍
I have always been a Cornershop fan since the 90s and this happens to be one of my fav tracks. I am also proud that unlike other crappy Indian bands from the UK, Cornershop has always maintained an integrity not spoiled by Bollywood and the pop market.
danny haobam i guess, britbong. But then if they didnt have pop appeal noone would be discovering them for the first time now.
@@rossroadcrew I agree, I was talking about the commercial pop ( as in for the sake of radio popularity appeal shite) not the melodic pop sound
Cornershops collaboration with Bubbley Kaur has a heavy Bollywood influence, albeit vocalized in Punjabi instead of Hindi.
I feel this band
So much good feeling in this song its beautiful
Yes to singing the song of a Nation! Epic, breathy, close to the mike, full of the heat of the midday sun, dhukka, and the endless road
Tell of your hurting my beloved [Ta Das teria dukha mera laad] /They say tell me about your sorrows my beloved [Kende Das teria dukhia mera laad] Your forgiveness is wanted [Teri asees chaunde]
Translation by Amardeep Singh
Thank you for this. Love from Toronto.
Thank you Mike D for adding this track to your favorite songs playlist on Apple Music 🙏🏼
i am always thankful to learn about culture and countries by hearing music. cornershop is a band i discovered on mtv and since then i love india.
Genuinely one of the best pieces of 90s music.
I have such dreary memories of the '90s but discovering this track on a Cornershop album in Borders [*sigh*], then diving into their next album and also finding my way to Nitin Sawhney ... remind me that there was much that was bright and positive about the decade that gave birth to all our present misfortunes.
I cannot agree more - I talk about this EP a lot
Greatest Velvet Underground song that the VU never wrote in Punjabi. (NOTE: Edit made per Raj Das that the language is Punjabi, not Hindi).
the greatest comment on u tube ever about anything ever, the song is a masterpiece too
this thought would never cross my mind but it makes perfect sense
seems lou reed never did smack in india
Nail. Head.
Great comment. The language is Punjabi though. Close to Hindi but not exactly.
I remember those years, Cornershop and Kula Shaker brought in the whole Sanskrit, India thing to rock music.
I LOVED all of it.😀
Where should I start with Kula Shaker.
@@behroozshahdaftar4209 any of their albums
@@behroozshahdaftar4209 Go straight back to Cornershop. Kula Shaker were not the deal for my money. Middle class passers by in the history of mattering.
Um, not really. George Harrison was writing Indian influenced music with the Beatles in the 60s.
@@Bellocks1 I should have said they brought that to NINETIES rock.
Eire..1996..No disco.. please say someone out there remembers 🙏🙏🙏
2021 a good year to become introduced to this band!?
'Tell me your sorrows, my dear'...such a great jam (even to a "dúje páse da 'Jabi"). Jai jai! 💡💡🙏🏾💪🏾
Metro Chicago 1995
Cornershop was the
Opening act for Stereolab.

I just...I just fuckin' LOVE this! And have done for years. Lots a love Conershop! From Ireland :)
An Irish who loves Cornershop... Wow, this used to be unthinkable about a couple of decades ago.
Races will vanish as the globalisation, a part of the movement of currencies, will engulf even tiny hidden corners of the world.
This is just fantastic to think of and a bit scary as well, at least for me.
I've been looking for this song for years, it was on a mix tape I lost that I got in the 90's at Lollapalooza.
I feel your joy. It's fantastic when this happens.
Brilliant track.. So raw... I felt the hairs in the back of my neck go up.
Brothers and sisters, we are speaking of the true path [sai rasta de bolde han] / Some people say that the right path is simply for the purpose of getting to heaven / But the right path is not just for the purpose of going to heaven / Everyone should consider this path & Truth / The right way is different for different people / Let us live in union - then we all win, win /And Lord we sing your praises CHORUS: We aim to achieve [Prabati kariye] / And of hurt let us worry [Ta Dukha to me darie]
Eric Hadley-Ives than you, dear.
The 'lyrics' are very moving, the song, exhilarating and transporting. Thanks for the translation.
Thanks again Eric Hadley-Ives. Where is this from?
@@Niray119 The song is from the band Cornershop. The lyrics are the English translation of the original Punjabi. It is a Gita, a dialogue between Shiva and his consort Parvati.
All the best.
Ohh early fade - MORE !! Oh wow what a groove ....
love this song...puts me in a trance.
one of my favorite songs in the world!
thank you Amardeep, Eric and not forgetting Tjinder!

This is a happy song! Love it.
Me too,it's stuck in my head for years
Nice one
Man, we didn't hear sh*t in the US about Cornershop (only know Brim full of Asha because Mom reads British music magazines. No cable in the country XD). Barely got When I was Born for the 7th Time. I'm glad I checked back on on this band. I can't believe how many albums I'm missing D: I lucked out and Mom told me about Urban Turban, but GEEZ! There's like 5 or six albums I never heard of!
Time to go searching >:D
I understand most of this, and really love this!
what he sayin?
Just the way it should be. You say you get high? Just wait.
Swasti. SGMKJ!
I heard the lyrics in my heart years ago, I knew they were true, but I didn't know what they meant, only that they felt right. Blissfully right!
But finally, with the Lord's grace, I heard this beautiful song again, and gratefully read the lyrics for the first time in over twenty years.
Bukti and Mukti to you my brothers. Thank you!
Namaste..

What does it mean "happy NOT to be part of"? I mean, maybe I'd rather be on my own than to be ruled by squared minds, for example.
6 o'clock to job!!
Shiva has a fidget spinner.
This would make a good name for a band or an album title
That is Vishnu, not Shiva. And it's a discus which he uses to cut down his opponents 👋
Shiva is the one with the snake around his neck 🐍
You are dancing Shiva.
My sons to God's india!!
Damn... i thought it was gonna be the original video.
