I've noticed my gameplay definitely gets worse if I smoke. I usually smoke half a joint or so towards night but I quit smoking before keys, makes me tunnel too hard.

I main a Healer myself and I have also noticed I struggle so much more in low keys than higher ones. At first I thought: Do I really suck this bad as a healer? but then I got into groups that actually know what they're doing on a higher level and i realized I was doing just fine. Low keys are definitely rough because your group just gets hit by stuff they shouldn't get hit by and everyone is blaming everyone for everything.
Ya the lower the key, the less focus people will have on surviving. Less interrupts, less damage ratio to need, and most importantly, more people standing in stuff they don't realize is dangerous.
When you get higher, that stuff just instantly kills them. So they are forced to learn it.
I feel 10-15 is the worst experience to pug. You are at the point where you have to deal properly with mechanics but people still think "just heal through it". Jade temple trash comes to mind.
As a healer main I’ve been struggling with this recently. There is always one dps if not two that eat most mechanics and take massive dmg. I find myself blowing CDs on them to turn around and have nothing big up when I actually need it. So I stop wasting them on that player and they start to die over and over which burns the time, then they get frustrated and either leave or burn minutes off the clock

@Jirachie ruby is fine if people interupt. You don't even need a lot of dps. 18 court can get really spicy with the last 2 bosses or the fel ladies you gotta kill, i seen people tank them in the open with no los in sight. The thing is, you won't see that in an 18 where a 13 ruby you barely have interupts, people getting hit by the meatball or fire everywhere on dragon boss.
Rogue should’ve just made heirloom daggers for the meme. This key was a such a fiesta it went all the way from tragedy to comedy at a 3 stooges level 😂

Ive always had a huge amount of anxiety to pug keys but this shows me how silly I am being if this is the quality that leaks through lol. I love these low level analysis vids, they were my fav to watch when I was big into sc2 as well, they are always too funny!

This is one of the biggest reasons why it's good to play other roles. A person that does nothing but tank is never going to have the opportunity to watch other tanks to see how they do things. I was exposed to new routes and new ways to pull mobs by playing healer so I could observe other tanks. Dps would also play differently if they ever tried to heal. They would immediately realize the importance of using health stones, pots, avoiding mechanics, and standing in aoe heals like Healing Rain, Dream Breath, and Efflorescence. Healers would do well to play a tank class to better understand when the spiky damage is going to come and to understand what damage you just have to (mostly) eat (Hyrja's beam, monk boss in Jade Temple's big hit) and what damage is actually avoidable (always being in melee range of Tempest boss). Or, a dps because you simply have more time to observe what casts are going off to see what is good to interrupt. As a healer, it's quite difficult to heal incredible aoe damage and observe cast bars at the same time, so you might not realize that all that Tidal Blast damage is interruptible and something you shouldn't have to heal to begin with. Another thing tanks would benefit from is playing a melee dps and seeing how infuriating it is to try to dps mobs that are jittering around all over the place because the tank won't ever stand still. Or how casters would really appreciate it if you group mobs up and plant yourself rather than 50,000 chain pulls in a row.

You simply cannot imagine how many of those mistakes happen in +18 to +20 Ruby Keys too, i tell ya i saw so many all of the listed things on my journey to time a higher Ruby. I was naive and thought people do get better at understanding their class and dungeons but oh boy, i was never so worng in my life :D

I haven't seen much of it myself in the 20 range. By then the keys start to humble you, I feel.
But as the tank its easier to not have these situations impact the key so I'm biased in that regard.

The world of pugging is a crazy world for sure. That good group you experience feels like a once in a life time thing. My own experience that stuck by me the most is, was a RLP (a 15 I think?). My VDH was still on the lower ilvl side, and I knew that. So did my healer. For that reason I pulled more carefully to not die and keep wiping on trash. Not even two minutes into the key, people started butt pulling like 1-2 trash packs on top of the ones I've already pulled. (mind you with the rate I was pulling we would've timed it.) Ofc, VDH not being a self sustain god like DK and being on the lower side of ilvl, I died. This didn't happen once or twice, but like 5 times. Then the dps who pulled the extra packs complained about me being a new tank (while having 2 years of experience now) and dying too much. I just of the life of me don't understand how people who make the mistakes find ways to blame others xD I mean they butt pulled and their dps was nowhere near good enough to melt the packs down. Experiences like that can really make me feel uncomfortable in the role of tank and just want to quit it, but I won't. There's still not enough of us tanks out there.
Ya at the end of the day the confidence to know you did everything you could and that those people were in the wrong is needed to push through that difficult situation. Its the life of any tank sadly.

I started playing tank because i cant stand dps queue times, its a lot of prep work to route properly and gain knowledge for encounter, but when everything clicks you can feel how much you are doing for key success and how cool is it, sometimes people even praise you for good tanking (although not that often).
Ya, tanking is the way out of this mess for sure. These tanks he is stuck playing with are sooo bad its scary. And that makes the key impossible. A good tank can carry, and a bad tank can make it impossible. Its that important of a role.
@@heythereguysitsMetro this is why you don't invite warriors to low to middling keys. Most of them are FotM rollers who don't have a clue what they're doing and will hands down be terrible tanks.
a short anecdote if you will. This is my partner's first season of m+ as a healer. she's ilvl 360 and we were in an 8 RLP with 2 friends and 1 random, i play a DH alt exclusively with her of roughly same ilvl so it remains challenging for her. You might think to yourself "oh that ilvl is a bit low" and you'd probably be right, icing on the cake, she had never done RLP on mythic anything, it was her first time seeing it. You might think to yourself "well shit, bet she bricked the key and was the worst player there", you would be very wrong. It was a tie between the random shammy we brought along for BL (but kept dying to everything before using it) and my friend who brought his havoc dh alt along and didn't know the mechanics of basically any of the fights. What's my friend's main you ask? well protection warrior ofc, KSM prot warrior no less.
-He understood that the healer gets aggro on whelps on boss 1, but didn't understand the healer just stands behind the group, he would dh rush into the whelps effectively stopping them in their tracks so we could not cleave the adds with boss shield. He did not even know you had to break shield and interrupt.
- he thought searing blows were back steppable on boss 2 and did not know that if you bait boulder into a wall right next to you it will immediately explode to the big circle
- on 3rd boss he did not know you tank boss between pillars to force the dragon to always land there for easy cleave, nor did he know the winds go counter clockwise
I reiterate, he is KSM and does not know the basic mechanics of the dungeon
Algorithms threw this up. Yeah that was a good video fella. Subscribed and, as a new tank, looking forward to following this and maybe learning some things!

I have saved this video. In the future, whenever I have tank anxiety, or I feel so bad about fucking up things and brick someone's key, or generally feeling useless in life, I'll come back to this and remind myself, yeah at least I'm not the warrior or the rogue.
100 percent do that. Whatever you feel, you will never be so clueless that you do every possible thing wrong on a fight AND then blame other people for it, like the tank in this video has done. And he was freely invited and everyone felt he was a good choice at the time.

I just finished a simple +4 Nokhud Offensive last night on an alt I'm trying to gear up. The first few pack pulls didn't turn out too well because the mage kept trying to stress and push the tank to pull more than needed. They ended up lusting during that pull when it was absolutely unnessecary. They left, but the funny part is they were the key holder, and we still managed to finish the dungeon on time with four people.
Hmm wild times in these keys.
1:35 yes, that's the thing you worry about as a healer. That right there is an sign of PTSD from people not interrupting flamedance over and over and over again

@@heythereguysitsMetro Are you being a smartass? They shouldn't have to, they're already struggling with healing through the inferno and cinderbolt flame spam. Literally any of the other 4 players should be handling it, and I say that as someone who plays DPS. I've never expected my healer to do my job for me, especially in a scenario where there is a lot of unavoidable damage going out.
@@brandoncomer6492 In pugs, you should ALWAYS expect you to be the only one who does things correct. That job is not anyone's specifically. All 5 players should contribute, and the problem right now is, all these resto druids aren't taking any of their actual utility spells, so its making things much much harder on the group.

You can not be sure the knock up will interrupt a flamedance.
I comment on it, because its a really really dumb thing to be worried about in a key this low, that early. Bring it up after you kill the first boss if you are that worried.

@@brandoncomer6492 That mechanic will not ever be a consistent source of wipes for any groups in a 13. As you see in the video, there are way way bigger issues in the key.

It’s so hard to pin point the million mistakes that culminate in these keys. However I do also know on that second boss if the tank isn’t in range and has agro on the add it will free melee swing any in range aswell. Gl keying people!

@@kopitarrules Its also because no one is interrupting. That cast does a TON. Tank needs to be leading that interrupt chart.
@@heythereguysitsMetro No lol :) You're right in the sense that 90% of the time the interrupt overall chart at the end of the key is being led by tanks (in pugs). But that says more about the dps than it says about what the tank's role is. IMO the tank shouldn't *have* to be leading that chart, but since mitigating stuff is your main role you just tend to focus more on it.
If you have rogues / shamans (or any melee really) with an equally short kick CD then the DPS should be on par with the tank. In pugs though....I have seen myself average around 25-30 pummels (not to mention all the shockwave stuns) with the second (melee) dps having done like 5 interrupts overall. PUG life...
On a paladin you can carry entire keys when it comes to interrupts, it's crazy.
the funny thing is that there is exactly one interrupt required (every add) on that boss ....and if nobody is even kicking that...then I don't know what to tell them :D

The tip of just not saying anything in a pug is golden. I might be tilted and malding at my screen, but no one in that key is gonna know.
Also something I like to do as a healer is change my Nickname in Details to something. I've used, "Get out of aoe", "Kicks Plz", "Use hpots lul", ect.
Oh that's a clever idea actually. Just an onscreen reminder every time they are staring at the charts huh

The timing of me actually seeing this video is pretty funny, because I just had a key that was super chill and then we wiped on last boss and didn't time the key (but we finished it) and a dh who took twice as much avoidable damage as the next highest person and had the most deaths went off on everyone.

The group wasn't even that bad, just not super coordinated and the dps was a little low. Nobody else really cared, just the one guy flipped out.

So I'm at 2830 IO on my rogue right now, and you would think pugging keys at the higher level is much better, but it's really not at times. Today I watched the prot warrior run straight into a triple pull in a +22 Shadowmoon without the healer there, die in 2 seconds flat, resulting in me immediately dying. THEN after I run back we pull a bunch of the exhumer spirits, I stun lock one down, nobody interrupts the other and I get 1 shot again. Fun times.
Hmm ya I suppose its bad everywhere. As I am the tank, its a lot harder for that type of thing to happen, but I'm sure its out there.

Ya, it is. I always judge that by its comparison to max level rewards. Right now, that's 20. So 7 levels away.
Its a point of reference for people who do keys though, nothing to do with those who don't.

Decided to pug my way to ksm this season just to see what its like (played with my guildies for basically all content in shadowlands), i have seen some weird shit. Its kinda interesting though, its very annoying to play with bad players in low keys, but also hilarious sometimes lmao

Even at higher io people still play bad. We had a 2250 warlock who was averaging 35k dps and had 2 interrupts the entire dungeon and left right before the 2nd boss because we weren't timing. This was in a +15. We felt bad for the key holder so we actually finished it with just the 4 of us.

The way I look at it, if the key level does not give max item level rewards, its a low key. Blurred by the way they changed loot but still, that's my perspective.

We had 1 dps dying before the first boss trash, guy released and had to run back, tank typed ... and pulled boss, we had to 4 man it, on tyranical.
We did not complete the key :)

I just started the game a week or two ago on blood dk. While I don’t really know the old mechanics but the new ones I’m figuring out. It’s so much nicer when you get people who critique and not flame. Like as a blood dk I won’t die and I can keep Aggro all day but it took me awhile to realize I had to move those bosses at the end

Well hopefully this group shows you that there are plenty of people out there worse than out.
As a tank who pugs frequently, I get maybe one solid group out of ten. It sucks but at this point I'm so used to groups falling apart because of nonsense. I swear people have no idea they have an interupt.
Its sad, but luckily as a tank you should be able to carry the bulk of the interrupts.
