First cruise I went on was Independence about 14 years ago. Had a window sea view on Deck 3 and loved it!! Short walk to all the amenities - a quick trip upstairs for pizza for example… It’s all good in my book.
I've used Deck 2 in the past for my disabled mother. She has always loved the level of care provided by the staff that is clearly used to helping handicapped cruisers. I do agree that going up for meals can be a bit frustrating at time, but well worth the wait.
We booked five RC Ocean View rooms on Deck 2 for our family cruise with lots of grandkids. We had no worries about the kids sitting on a balcony. We had no room issues that cruise, but it does take a while to get to the top of the ship.
I have to disagree with the long waits for the elevators. Normal wait time plus the elevator is empty so you will not have to wait for a second elevator when on deck 2.
I love the lower decks, oceanview, because of the movement issues and I like being closer to the water level. However, I also enjoy spending time on my balcony and usually lowest level balconies are on decks 5/6. Depends on my budget and time of year. In the Caribbean in the hottest part of summer, I avoid balconies due to heat and enjoy watching the ocean from a cool stateroom porthole. But in Nov-April, balconies are nice! I do spend time in my room so a view is essential for me, but that's not true for many who like to spend time at pools and more public venues.
We tend to always book ocean view on lower decks. We don't spend much time in our cabin, so those rooms work best for us. Our October cruise is a GTY Ocean View, and we're super excited to find out where we will be. 😊
I went on a cruise last year on Rhapsody of the Seas and booked two linked outside cabins on deck 2 mid-ships, myself and the wife in one, and our 7 and 8 year olds next door. Best cabin ever. And ship for that matter, we loved it. I have been on many different ships and cabin types and big is not always better, the large window at sea level was amazing, just sitting in the window and watching the waves. The kids loved it as well. Deck 10 can feel very far removed from the sea, it’s a long way down and the height and waves can be deceptive. Likewise, we loved the ship, big enough but not too big, friendly, plenty to do, very well kept given its age and amazingly modern, again given its age. If you enjoy traditional cruising this is a lovely ship. So that would be my ideal cabin. And two cabins is way better than one when you have two kids, so again given a choice between a mini-suite for 4 or two outside or even inside rooms, I’d take the two linked cabins every time. Also means you get two bathrooms, which is also a bonus when trying to get ready to go out.
Our first cruise, we booked inside guaranteed on Freedom, and had a great room. Next year, we did it again for Liberty (or maybe it was the other way around...), and got deck 2 near the front gang way. It was not great. So noisy in the mornings. The only good thing was the quick return after port.
i have been on over 20 cruises and 2 were on ocean view rooms on the lowest deck so far it was a very good choice i loved both i felt like i was on the water being that close to the ocean
We are on Adventure of the Sea right now and my kids said hey maybe we will run into Matt. My answer was “He is off enjoying the newer ships” then my wife ends up sitting next to your media manager today in the Windjammer. Guess I was wrong. Matt is everywhere.
I Had mid ship deck 3 on symphony , and it AWFUL it was right above the stairs you take to leave the ship and go to port and every stop of the cruise i was awaken super early by the crew setting up the stairs so people could go into port, around 6-7am , WORST Cabin ever.
Sounds like you selected a really challenging location. Sorry to hear that. I've had a similar experience, on my first cruise. Thereafter, anytime booking low decks I select my own room, which has been very good.
Ocean view on Deck 3 of Ovation was fine-most of the HC accessible cabins are mid deck so we were two cabins from the front elevators--convenient and rather seasick friendly (plus it was $2400 for a June Alaska cruise is what was a pretty nice size room..324 sq ft)…elevator waits weren’t too bad since we were right near the Casino and Music Hall (wasn’t too noisy, believe it or not)
I tend to only book Oceanview rooms and let royal pick, we end up on deck 2 and never had any issue with it. We are hardy in the room so that's why. We have had a balcony before but sometimes it's not on the side of port I want to see so going to the top deck works better for us.
I was on the mouse cruise line, and discovered our inside cabin had a lot of vibration. They offered to move us and showed us the room, deck 3 Oceanview. Forgetting the actual ship we were on, having a low deck gives a smoother ride. Looking out the window, you could see the height of the waves, where being 10 decks higher it just looks flat. Surprisingly, these cabins were right off the main entrance to the MDR, through an normally unsean opening. Other cruise lines have something similar, cabins off a busy area. There was zero foot traffic in our area. As long as you are not next to a noisy area that is part of the ships operation, these lower decks are quiet with very few people out and about.
I've only been on two cruises. The first one was an ocean view and we enjoyed it used the window to store a couple of things. And then my second cruise was an inside cabin. Which I hated because no sunlight. Couldn't tell what time a day it was, and the set up was that my phone was not within arms reach so I couldn't just look at the phone for the time.
We have always liked our cabins on two or three. We are always midship and love being so close to the water. We feel we actually saw more sea life there, never had motion sickness, and getting where we were going was never a problem and had no trouble with noise.
We did an inside Deck 3 next to the elevators and never had a problem with noise, never had a lengthy wait for elevators either. We were under the photo studio so maybe that helped.
I have a deck three aft ocean view room booked for our next cruise. Same location as a previous cruise. Surrounded by other cabins. It does get a little noisy when the ship is tying up in port as the space on deck one is where the crew works the ropes. I never noticed any motion but that rarely is an issue. It was convenient getting back to our cabin after excursions as often times embarkation was on deck two or three. Getting a room at the far aft eliminated to foot traffic outside my door at night.
I know you're a rv guy but carnival recently implemented cove balcony rooms, which are on deck 2. I did that, mid ship on the carnival vista. I really liked it, hardly felt any ship movement and it was easy to get to mdr. they advertise that you're close to the water and it ain't joking.... you can feel the sea spray. It was the cheaper option too. I wish RC had balc rooms on deck 2.
I tend to book inside cabins because if I want sun, or ocean air, or views, I go to the Solarium area and find a deck chair. I'm mostly in my cabin for showers, sleeping, clothes changes and souvenir storage. But my mom will not sail any ship without a balcony - I don't know why but she just absolutely won't book a trip without one. I personally don't think it's worth the extra money but it's ok - when we go together, I just get a balcony cabin lol
Hi Matt! My fianceé and I are considering a cruise for our honeymoon. Are there adult only sections of Royal Caribbean Cruise ships? If so, what are they? Don’t confuse me, we’re not badmouthing any parents, not at all. We just want to enjoy our first vacation as husband and wife to be at least somewhat relaxed and uninterrupted by kids.
Did an Ocean-View cabin on a Radiance-class ship recently, deck 3 (so lowest +1) and it was a great experience. Significantly less expensive than a balcony, but still had a great view. Yes, it was a wait for the elevators to get up to the pools and Windjammer, but not a deal breaker by any means.
We have our inside cabin on our virgin voyages honeymoon cruise on resilent lady on deck 5 and directly above us on one side is the manor (nightclub) and the other side is the casino. I don't think that we are going to get much sleep. And on our carnival cruise to the pacific Islands we have a porthole cabin on deck 2.... Im not sure what is above us as haven't seen the deck plan
We have always chosen the balcony since our first cruise. That was to Alaska and we enjoyed the scenery from the comfort of the balcony. We also prefer mid ship location. Though not prone to seasickness, why chance it? Since then we've always gone with a balcony and mainly due to having a private space to enjoy the ocean views, the ports, etc., and just have a place to quietly relax.
No interior cabins for us. We have stayed in the ultra spacious Oceanview on Freedom of the Seas. Great views. We were right over the helipad at the bow of the ship. Since we have been on Harmony of the Seas and stayed in the Central Park balconies, we are spoiled. Went this past January and now we are going again in September. We also just booked a Central Park balcony on Symphony of the Seas in January. Those cabins are awesome. Highly recommend them. Keep cruising 🛳️❤
assume deck 1 is for crew officers under deck 1 is for crew cabins & don't remind me, I was crew musician 2 contracts and turned down Icon of seas contract. Heard icon of seas crew has really nice cabins and crew area compared to what crew has now. I will stay with Jr suite or grand suite now, have booked nov 4-11th 2023 Radiance of seas out of tampa in grand suite on hump ...suppose to be largest balcony on ship. If I was going as single would I stay in deck 2 yes I would in ocean view probably midship ...prices are better there
Too much noise midship! The best place is at the very front or back of the ship with staterooms on all sides up and down. If you stay on the lowest decks you will definitely feel the vibration of the ship when it docks. While I loved my quiet cabin on deck 2 with an aft facing window, every morning the ship docked in port all my toiletries fell off the shelves from the vibrations. Forget about sleeping late.
On my first cruise, I had an inside cabin on deck... 4, I think? It was on a smaller NCL ship and we had a really good time. We were rarely in our cabin. On my second cruise, which was on a middling-to-large Royal ship, I stayed in a balcony. Wow. It was nice. It would be hard to go back to an inside cabin, but an ocean view cabin might be a nice middle ground. I would definitely give a lower deck ocean view cabin a try. Spending less money on a cabin means there's more money for excursions and activities, after all!
I booked an 8-day cruise at the last minute on Vision of the Seas and all that was left was an inside on Deck 3. This was my first time in a non-balcony cabin. My expectations were very low but it was much better than I thought. It was weird feeling vibrations and hearing water sloshing around I spent most of my time sitting on the promenade deck watching the waves. My legs got a good workout climbing to Deck 9 for the buffet. If I go on Vision again, I'd try to get an ocean view first. Balconies are few on Vision and are super expensive. I might do an interior again if the cruise is short.
Vision is an awful ship overall. Hours of venues are awful. Also space in venues was awful. Activities were weird and not okay. Several of the production shows were terrible. You could tell the singers were lip syncing and not very well.
@@tduck828 Wow. I don't do cruise entertainment so I wasn't aware. Vision sails out of Maryland, the nearest port to me, so it is a good ship to me despite its limitations. Same thing with Carnival and NCL ships in Maryland.
The only thing thats worse than a cabin on the lowest deck of a ship is not going on a cruise when you are able. If that .eets your price point then there is a lot that can be put up with to be onboard
It's been about 5 years since i've been on a cruise but idk how anyone could experience motion sickness on these things, as i recall, they're so big you don't even really feel it. They're basically moving buildings on water.
Haha wifey had a heart attack when she saw our booking on deck 2 on Grandeur of the Seas I called Royal Caribbean they moved us to deck 4. After cruising last year on the Oasis of the Seas its was a major step back but we only did that cruise on for the itinerary for the western Caribbean.
I was on deck 3 front interior on vision of the seas. It was awful. The AC didn't work. When the anchor went down the room shook and you could hear grinding. Never again.
First cruise I went on was Independence about 14 years ago. Had a window sea view on Deck 3 and loved it!! Short walk to all the amenities - a quick trip upstairs for pizza for example… It’s all good in my book.

We got an interior room once and it was the best sleep i have ever had in my life 😂
Same here. I sleep like a baby on cruises.
Ugh I hate it. I sleep so much I feel like if I don't have an alarm I sleep half my vacation away
@@emilyann7503 Oh no! 🤭 I can sleep in any cabin but the balcony was the best. The water is so calming to me.
Ocean view mid ship deck 3 on Navigator was great - easy to MDR and casino.

Deck 2 is the gangway to the excursions and is great in choppy seas -we had a porthole -loved it -vintage sailing feel
Once I might have been adverse to a cabin that low, but after experiencing deck 4 and enjoying it I dont think I'd have any issue with deck 2.

Can you talk about what happened on spectrum of the seas

booked a guarantee Ocean view. We got one right above the gangway, never again.

Are there any RC cruises out of Manila, Philippines?
Enjoying all your videos
We stayed on deck 2 midship. No problems
How’s the noise on Deck 3 cabins of Icon?
I’m booked for a second floor cabin…on the Liberty of the Seas….
anything I should know ??
Not usually as long as there are cabins below and above you.
stateroom 10 is a lower deck or upper deck
I have never had any issues staying on the lower decks.
Great video!!!
No, I wouldn't book a room on the lower floors because I always want a balcony.

It was also very rocky and you could feel every movement. Nope.
First time being on a big boat. Anyone be on Carnival Spirit December 9 ? I'll see ya on the lido deck. Lets hook up
No, I would not book a cabin on deck two or three.
It's a suite or nothing
Nope, i always book a cabin with a balcony.
Highest deck possible, always
