He’s didn’t even say how much he paid. He mentioned how much a generic reservation would cost. AMEX points redemption doesn’t say how much he had to pay in credit card expenses so accrue that many points. Also, he just brushed aside how he had a multi-city itinerary, so the entire “price” category was wholly irrelevant. Not transparent at all.

    • @lutherfoust5483
      @lutherfoust5483 9 месяцев назад

@@AviationDirection I thought he did. He mention how much he paid with cash and much his wife paid with points. He said $3,375.30 one way. I flew business class from Atlanta to Phuket round trip for $6668.45. What I am confused about is the route. Russia doesn't allow (now because of the war) flights over Russia. Also I think NYC to Singapore should have been an western direction and not eastern.

I did this flight in Business class from Newark EWR to Singapore and from Singapore back to EWR. Highly recommend it and it did not feel like 18 hours… in fact I did not want to get off. A few tips:
    - Try to buy the Business class ticket with credit card points with Singapore Airlines as a transfer partner
    - Flying out of Newark, you can use United’s Polaris lounge which is fantastic
    - Use Book the Cook prior to your flight to select dishes you want to eat (more selections than choices in the flight)
    - When flying back to the States, make sure to spend time in Singapore’s Business class lounge

I’m fascinated by the logistical challenges.
    1. How does Singapore staff this flight? Are there rotating FA’s?
    2. Meals- with a la carte meals available, how do they know which meals to stock? At least “book the cook” helps them in this regard.
My oldest brother lives in Maui and my younger brother in Sydney. I live in Miami and always break up the flights to visit them , as I would rather sleep in a comfortable hotel than get just 4-5 hours of fitful sleep on a jet. I’d rather dine in a cozy restaurant than have airplane meals.
Plus breaking up a very long trip reduces jet lag.
And I do travel business class for all international travel.

The best seats on SQ A350s are the ones at the front of the cabin, like 19A or 19K.
The service on board is impeccable. I slept for maybe 8 or 9 hours and read for most of the rest of the trip.

Great video as always, Jeb & Suzanne. I was very fortunate to get SQ24 in business class from SIN to JFK on a steal of a point redemption deal last October. To make it even better I was able to switch to bulkhead seat 19A at check in. Row 19 does not have that awkward footwell restriction making it by far the roomiest location on the aircraft. They are bassinet seats and are therefore blocked from pre-booking until check-in. I recommend checking in early to try to get this row. That said, there is always a risk that there will be an infant in a bassinet nearby so remember to pack your earplugs.

Haven't done this flight yet, but roughly 11-12yrs ago, I did BKK-JFK non-stop on Thai A340-500... and it was exactly 18 hours from take-off to touch down.

Taking the flight from Newark in July (initially wanted to take the one-stop itinerary through Frankfurt to get on an A380 but didn't feel like spending an 11 hr layover) and I am definitely looking forward to it! Hopefully the lounge experience is a bit nicer there, but thanks for the great video!

Qantas nonstop flight from Sydney Airport to London's Heathrow Airport seems poised to reign as the world's longest flight. clocking in at a whopping 10,576 miles and 20 hours long.

Thanks for your report. As for the slanted seating, this is one area where I prefer SIA's regional to the long-haul business class seat. The regional seat does not require you to stand to have the bed set up, all you need to do is push a button. And the IFE screens there appear touch screen.
I think though you with the IFE system used in here you can set it up in such a way to make your phone or tablet a remote.
