The caste system has been portrayed differently in the Western world. Just FYI, The Republic of India has both The president who is the supreme chief of all the defence forces( here the lady with the french president) and THE prime minister who is the head of the state and makes all the important decisions ( here PM modi).

Right now, India just concluded one fighter jet program's design phase and now that jet (called Tejas Mk1A) is in production with 223 of the jets on order. And right now there are THREE fighter jet programs in design and prototype stage in India SIMULTANEOUSLY. These are the Tejas Mk2, the TEDBF and the AMCA. In total, the order book of all these fighter jet programs exceeds 800 jets. That is the fourth largest air fleet in the world.
That is a total of FOUR fighter jet programs in India within just the first quarter of the 21st century. Before mid-century, India will likely also have one more fighter jet program on top of all these, although that one will begin in around 2040, after all these programs conclude development phase and enter production.
In the 21st century, the French fighter jet Rafale is the ONLY fighter jet India purchased from abroad. And it is going to be the LAST fighter jet ever imported by India.
