- Learn how to cut paving stones like a pro even if you only have a handheld angle grinder. We finish up the patio project in this weeks episode. With the main patio laid, it is time to cut paving stones for around the edges. I typically use a combination of a 12" concrete saw and a 4" handheld angle grinder. However, with the concrete saw out of commission before even having the chance to get started, I was stuck with only the angle grinder for this project.

Is the snap edging a good replacement for a retaining wall?
Wish you would have showed how you cut the bottom side of that brick. There was no line so how did you know where to cut it?
I just extend my side lines to the back and then continue my cut. No need to mark the backside in this case.
Did u not whacker plate the paving after sanding?

I am somewhat concerned about the missing piece of stucco behind the steps. This will eventually lead to moisture damage on the frame. The home owner should really put some flashing tape behind the wrap and patch the stucco. Hopefully the home owner will at least apply some sealant where the stair meets the wall.
The stairs are temporary. We couldn't get a stucco guy on site for quite sometime to complete the patching, but the homeowners needed something for the time being.
Why not put kl curbs in for step with paving blocks in middle so much easier n quicker and looks alot better aswell great work just my opinon
That would also work, and the original plan was to do stone stairs. It was the odd height under the door and cost that switched the stairs to wood.
Was that polymeric sand or just regular sand at the end to lock up the seams?
Just regular, I am not a fan of polymeric where I live.

What did you charge for this project? Also, what type of blade did you have on your grinder?
I dont disclose any of the pricing as this keeps the financial commitments of my clients private. I will say this is on the less costly side of stone patios- largely square, standard pavers, and without any fancy inlays. I was using a diamond blade on the angle grinder. Very similar blade to what would be in a tile saw.

It is a diamond blade meant for cutting tile and stone.

Good video content but the sound is diabolical mate the music is way to loud and the voice to low if you normalize the audio before uploading it would stop people from reaching for the volume knob every 10 seconds or so, up down up down.
