Best part is, given the lore for both characters, there is a very high chance they canonically had an argument along these lines in one of their few meetings.

Would be actually useful for areas where the gunners don't have any good shots and just continue to shoot there own front lines backs. Granted it would be weird to be fighting while getting literally shot in the back, but hey if it saves your life who is going to complain.

After watching two Amythest ironsides evaporate a lord of change, a bloodthirster, and a great unclean one in seconds each, I can confirm that putting death magic in guns definitely gets results.
What if we combine Metal and Death into a bullet and fire it at the enemy?
Then you get death metal bullets that quadruplely damns the demons and the gun explodes in the hands of the poor shmuck fire the gun.

because death magic is slightly less unstable than smokeless powder. Instead of tossing a steamtank's turret when hit it just kills everyone inside which spares the lives of those the steamtank's turret would have hit on the way down. Using ashqy magic instead is how you get magical napalm, I believe gelt is interested in this proposal.

Thing is that Elspeth's forces also have additional unique abilities granted to them by the Amethyst Armory. Not to mention all of them deal magic damage which outright ignores Physical Damage. Thus Chaos Daemons and Undead (and any unit with high physical resistance) will die horribly.
Her gunnery weapons deal double death instead of the usual death.

Elspeth needs some lessons from Greasus on sales tactics. She should have told Gelt that with the amethyst armoury guns can now bring death magic to the battlefield without having to risk his students. This makes sure that they can continue to pay tuition while getting valuable on the job training and the enchanted weapons can be sold to nobles for profit.

I don't know, having rockets explode into purple suns instead of just a regular explosion. That would be a worthy investion into the Lores of Death Magic. Would Lore of Metal make guns more dangerous? No. It already shoots metal. That is how the gun works. But Lore of Dawi magic. That would improve guns. That is how the Dawi work.
Lore of metal would strengthen the metal of the guns so the can safly fire bigger loads, harden bullets to diamonds for massive penetrative round and if you want fancy cause the bullets to ho molten on impact
When you are up against literal ghosts, you need more than just metal.
@@mdb45424 Good point, but this can also be achieved through metalury and better engineering (Lore of Nuln, I believe?). And by that logic, you could apply a touch of death affect through the Lore of Death so that if the enchanted bullet hits, whoever is hit is guranteed to die, even if it was a graze shot.
@AberrantChibi I mean there's tons of fun thing adding magic to guns, imagine adding necromancy to bullets. Killing a solider gives you a ghoul in their lines, a major blow to marol
Balthasar is just jealous that Karl sent him on a long term business trip to Cathay far away from his wizard tower while Elspeth gets to stay home in her wizard tower and even has a mechanic that lets her teleport back home to her tower immediately whenever she finishes a business trip.

For those of you who might say "yeah well, lore of metal just adds more metal to guns" it doesn't just so that.
He makes the guns and ammo in the first place, and he also finds new ways to create new kinds of guns. Guns already kill on their own, he just makes them more efficient by improving them then just add death magic to them.

Yeah Balthasar tell that to the trolls or giants that can take like a million normal bullets to die. Or in lore tell that to the Bretonnia knights that are divinely blessed to be made basically bullet proof. I think magic bullets might be useful in those instances.

To be fair, I think he just salty that the lore of death magic lady gets to upgrade gunpowder units with a special doodad.
While he the master of the lore of metal and who is known for inventing new and interesting ways to kill with technology such as better gunpowder. Does not....which is pretty weird when you think about it.
Now that you mention it, Balthazar Gelt should get something similar to Elspeth von Draken's Amethyst Armory/Workshop where he can upgrade guns & artillery to deal extra damage by using the Lore of Metal instead of the Lore of Death.
