    Great shotgun. I saw one of these in the store last week but now that I see this review, I will be heading back to buy it today. Thanks for helping me get in trouble with my wife again :-)

    I just picked this up today. The straight 612. Got for $279. The craftsmanship and nimbleness is amazing. I don't care if it's made in Czech Republic or Turkey or wherever. I already fired about 20 rounds of buckshot and it worked great. I have the home defence unit. It's really a nice gun for the money.

      In Czech Republic we have a long tradition in weapons manufacturing :-) And last year, Colt’s Manufacturing Company bought 91% stake in CZ Uhersky Brod. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C4%8Cesk%C3%A1_zbrojovka_Uhersk%C3%BD_Brod

    This was a great overall video showcasing the 612. Thank you for taking the time to present it for us and for giving some firsthand knowledge/experience. It’s great to see someone sing some praises for a Turkish shotgun, instead of tear them down in an echo chamber of assumptions. I purchased my CZ 612 Field three years ago now, and I thoroughly enjoy it. It’s a handsome shotgun and like you said, the quality is impressive given the cost (I paid around $320 for mine). I just took it out today and harvested a few doves with it. The fact that it’s so light weight really is a plus when upland hunting. I’d like to see how much a standard steel 870 receiver weights compaired to the 612s aluminum one. I plan on picking up the 612 home defense this coming spring and familiarizing myself with it. The synthetic furniture is appealing for duck hunting and I’m sure my field barrel will swap over perfect to take it in the wetlands. Thanks again.

    In Alaska I had slugs and bird shot staggered. That way you can take out their smell, sight and hearing with the bird shot and then the slug to go for the kill shot, if it doesn't bounce off their skull.

    • @JohnB-dr8sk
      @JohnB-dr8sk Год назад +1

      Yeah, in Alaska, you need to load it with Brenneke Hardcast Slugs because of the size of the bears there. Just make sure to hot glue the crimp because several RUclips tests have shown that when Brenneke shells get wet, the powder gets soaked by water coming in at the top through the crimp. Sealing up the crimp with hot glue from a $5 Walmart glue gun makes them waterproof. Stay safe!

    I've read in various places that this is a Remington 870 clone. Anyone know whether 870 parts are interchangable?
    Also keep in mind that this exact same Akkar shotgun is sold under the EAA label as the Churchill 612. I own the EAA version. Great shotgun. As far as I can tell from this video, they are exactly the same. I see no difference. Curious if anyone knows of any.

    • @JohnB-dr8sk
      @JohnB-dr8sk Год назад +2

      Yes, the Churchill 612 is the CZ 612. If you watch Sootch00's video of the CZ 612 from 2012, that one is literally the Churchill 612 with "CZ 612" printed on it. They are both made by AKKAR of Turkey and the EXACT same gun. As far as interchangeability with a Remington 870, no, the parts won't exchange. However, the pistol grips/bird's head grips from an 870 can fit as well as mag tube extenders. If you register your Churchill 612 with EAA, you can submit a service request to buy spare firing pins, extractors and other parts from them. This is something anyone owning a Turkish shotgun should do because during the next crazy political or world event, you may need to replace a broken or worn part and you won't be able to get it then. Hope this helps. -John

    Does it have dimpled tube like Remington or crimped to retain mag spring?

    • @tomasantecky9968
      @tomasantecky9968 2 года назад +4

      The warning is about shotguns that support chokes. They have a thread at the end of the barrel, where you screw a choke. This shotgun does not support chokes (no thread in a barrel), so you are good to go :) Just google shotgun chokes...

      I agree with all three of you but I just wanted to share my experience. I was looking for a low cost shot gun for the below $300 mark before taxes. The salesman let me handle a few different models and then handed me the CZ 612, instantly loved the feel of it and the weight of it was the first thing I noticed and it was a CZ, in name at least. I just bought it for home defense so I didn’t shoot it for a couple of months. When I did it shot the first round and jammed so I tried two other brands of shells with no change. It appears to be trying to double feed. I was So Disappointed. Anyway that was 7 months ago and I still haven’t sent it back yet. I was so bummed out my first CZ and that happened. I have purchased a few hand guns made in Turkey and all are very good quality and reliable. I also have bought many many guns in my lifetime from Ruger, S&W, Colt, HK, Valmet, Remington, H&R, Hawes, Beretta, EAA, SAR, Rossi, SCCY, Bond, Henry, Winchester and some that don’t come to mind right now. But my point is this, This is my first nonfunctional gun I have ever owned. Being involved with a small business myself, I understand all to well that You will have a bad one of anything sometime or another. Anyway I still love that shotgun and I have decided to send it back to get fixed, just hope they will stand behind their products. If you got this far, Thanks for reading!!! GOD Bless America!!! And the World!!!

      @@mrmann44 my use of the term “home invader” differs from “home burglar” in that an “invader” is fully aware that the home is occupied when they enter while the “burglar” is simply looking for an easy score in what they believe to be an empty home. A “burglar” may very well be scared off by nearly any sound suggesting resistance while the “invader” is counting on encountering occupants at some point.

      I agree with you brother, but times are hard right now with the quasi-hyper inflation going on and some folks just can't afford one. Remington 870s are gone now, except for the new versions which are all $600, and Mossberg still can't be found at a lot of places and their quality control has completely fallen apart. Broken firing pins, broken extractors, barrels shooting way off point of aim, you name it. A Beretta is on my list, but for now, it's a Turkish gun that will have to take its place.
