What a gorgeous coastline! The addition of the heather is a beautiful bonus. Again, thank you so much for showing us a spectacular part of the world. 🙏🏼
I’m usually a sunshine and warm if not hot weather person but I must say the gray sky, clouds and wind add a feel of mystery and enchantment to the whole trip. The first little village reminded me of Doc Martin (❤️) series and the seagull sounds were definitely a bonus and made it almost palpable. If I ever have the good fortune of visiting your beautiful country this trek will for sure be on my list. Thank you for the amazing experience. Love you and Derek and all you do. ❤️🙏🏻🤗
That's rather interesting, the England Coast Path. Being competitive in length to the American AT, PCT & CDT trails, I wonder if it will become a long distance hiker "bucket list" item?
wow what awesome stretch of the trail !!! that coastal seg was to die for !! i gotta tell ya miss m ( sounds bond like huh ?? ) there are times i like gray skies n such. what a blessing that was, wow !! the pier, trolley, getting to watch a train ( love it myself, don't know why however, just cool ) thanks Mary for ANOTHER fantastic ride along !!!!!!!!!!!!
Over the years in my family of hikers, we have come up with some sayings that one of us will produce when it's appropriate. In addition to the standard "It's just over this rise" and "We're almost there" (applied when neither of those things are true), we always say, "What goes down must come up." Basically, there is no gap, valley or gorge that is not followed by having to go back up the other side.
Thank you for the update Mary ,on day like you have had its great you had Derek with you, doing something you love ,with someone you love who could ask for more
Banana sandwiches. that's a new one on me. Peanut butter and banana yes, but just banana I have never seen before. I am enjoying your travels very much.
When you get to your destinations, do you camp? or where do you stay? I have just fallen in LOVE with this trail. I like all the sight seeing along the way and the benches if you need to sit for a bit. Its so lovely. I does look a bit chilly right now. Where I live its 90 degrees and 100% humidity, so its miserable . Derek is AWESOME!!!!
OMGosh !!! I'm not sure but I think this section is@ the top of my list so far !!!!!! The fence to the right & the sea to the left and the crazy blanket of Heather !!!!! The sound of the shore line 👏👍🏽 the gray skies 👅 !!! How does one put words to it ????? That, 4 me, makes rain worth it 🤭🙂 Beautiful Mary !!! Thanks. Ps.... Did you lose your trail legs ?? 🤭😅🤗 ( Sorry, I couldn't help it )
Seeing Derick walking along the waters edge made me wonder if there is any oil seepage from the North Sea? Here in Souther California a walk along the beach will guarantee shoes with tar stuck to them. Also curious about mushy peas, In the US we have a split pea soup, is it the same?
I can't say I have ever noticed any oil seepage! No mushy peas are completely different to Split Pea Soup. Mushy peas are usually dried marrowfat peas soaked in water and baking soda. They are so delicious😋
Hi there Just watched this video on my other account as I am thinking of doing this today with my 5 year old. It looks gorgeous with plenty of points of interest? I have plans to do the full walk or maybe something even bigger with him in the summer but want to see how he copes with the longer distances. We’ve done lots of hiking in the Lake District along some quite challenging terrain but don’t think we’ve exceeded 7-8 miles in one go? Was this day relatively straightforward. Anyway, just subscribed to your channel and am going to show him some of the features now so that he can start to pick them out as we go. Many Thanks - very informative 💪
Sorry I’ve only just seen your comment so no doubt you have already gone. It is straight forward from what I can remember, a few steep sections but the paths were good! Thanks for subscribing and I hope you enjoy my other videos 😁
Mushy peas? And all this time I thought Joe Strummer and the Mescalros were singing about "mushy bees". Beautiful hike!
😂
Good job Derek, adding your signatures name in a sign heart of love on the sand. That's quiet, brilliant.
Again Mary thanks for the history, that coastline trails gonna be great, hike and surf fish 😏 now back to the vid.
Rainy but great day. The coastline and little fishing villages are idyllic and those seasides sounds 🥰🥰
Thank you 😊
Nice views along the coast today. I can't believe how much heather there is...looks beautiful. Thanks for the history lessons. Hike On!
Glad you enjoyed it Tom, thanks so much!
What a gorgeous coastline! The addition of the heather is a beautiful bonus. Again, thank you so much for showing us a spectacular part of the world. 🙏🏼
So glad you enjoyed it Karen!
Stunning coastline!!!
A wonderful though increasingly soggy day. Lovely coastal towns, the beach at Saltburn and the cliffs of heather. Thanks Tink'
Thank you so much Keith😊

Very true!! We had a good giggle though didn’t we 😘
I'm really enjoying this series. Thanks for taking us along!
So glad!! Thank you!
I’ve been lied to my whole life. England has beautiful beaches!
It certainly does...just not guaranteed weather!
As always a stunning video
Thank you so much 😀

Yes we didn’t have a lot of choice in that local shop😂
Another amazing video Mary. The day did seem rather challenging...a very good work-out! x
It certainly was! Thank you x

We didn’t camp on this trip, we stayed in a barn, 2 Airbnb’s, a youth hostel and a hotel. Yes Derek certainly is brilliant 😂
Thanks❤💙

( Sorry, I couldn't help it )
It certainly was a great section! Lose my trail legs 🤭 Never🤣 It was just the wind in the opposite direction holding me back😁

Ha,ha 😅.... That, Mary, was the CORRECT answer !!!!!! 😂😀😃

Mary, fine. Oh! Mary, I do not know if you have heard, in Brazil has a bird and depending on the region the name is different, TECELÃO OR SERGEANT 🐦
Saltburn also the birthplace of David Coverdale of Whitesanake fame.
My dad had small steps on a staircase in his garage. It was difficult to use and in my opinion, dangerous.
Another enjoyable video, not sure on banana sarnies thought 🤣
Thank you! Try them with peanut butter too - they are delicious 🤣

That was fun. Did you do any wild camping or stay in a campground at all on this trip?
Not this time Steven, it was just a youth hostel, a barn, 2 Airbnb’s and a hotel.
How long did this trail take please
We did it over 5.5 days Laura - I'd recommend taking a little longer though to explore and enjoy it more 😊
