Aloha from MA. I was born and grew up in Waianae and always admired the strength of our ancient ancestors. I had read of the art of Lua, but can't recall it ever being taught or available when I was a kid. Seeing this now at the age of 44 is awesome! Much praise to these Hawai'ian kane(and the wahine's that support them) keeping our culture and fighting spirit alive. If I was living back home, I think I probably would have taken this up. I miss Hawai'i.
For the most part they are pretty similar, some are so similar that you can understand eachother basically 100%, others are similar but only in structure but have their own different words for things etc
Aloha, Thank you for continuing in tradition and honor. I'm trying to find the scientific and natural laws that contribute to martial arts around the world. Thank you for being great warriors and examples of the warrior culture to the USA and the rest of the world.
Well... We islanders originate from South East Asia. I'm not Poly, I'm Micronesian but we're in the same boat (so to speak haha) We all island hopped out of the Malaysia area and settled into our islands. But we're talking THOUSANDS of years ago, before there was even an "oriental" race. Basically, there is no written version of Polynesian or any real way to show how old or where exactally the ORIGINAL mother language of Polynesian comes from etc. It comes out of SE Asia, before it was "Asia"

this is a wonderful Hawai'ia Haka.. some of the other grpups (uni Hawaii etc) are taking Maori ideas and disrespecting them.. this is however, a Kanaka Maoli style. Its fantastic and authentic.. Kia Ora and aroha from Aotearoa, NZ :)
