Rolex Deepsea Challenge - A decade on with James Cameron

- Ten years ago, on 26 March 2012, Rolex Testimonee James Cameron made history as the first person to dive solo to the deepest part of the Earth, the Pacific Ocean’s Mariana Trench, at 10,908 metres (35,787 feet). This record-breaking feat aboard the specially built DEEPSEA CHALLENGER followed on from the 1960 voyage of the bathyscaphe Trieste, which similarly mined the waters thousands of metres below the surface and on which Rolex was also present. Cameron’s 2012 expedition shed new light on the underwater realm as valuable samples were collected that helped pave the way for further scientific research. Strapped to the exterior of the submersible was the Rolex Deepsea Challenge, an experimental watch designed for the occasion. It was keeping perfect time when Cameron returned to the surface seven hours later. On the 10-year anniversary of the expedition, the filmmaker and explorer reflected on his journey to the bottom of the sea. The story of Rolex and the deep continues. I was watching some funny videos earlier, I’m extremely high right now- I have no idea how nor why I have come to see this video playing on my phone but I just watched the entire thing. I hadn’t realized this was a video for a Watch up until about the last 30 seconds of the video
His name is James (James) Cameron!
Explorer of the sea!
No budget too steep
No sea too deep.
Could it be?
Yeah that's him!
JAMES CAMERON
James Cameron Is A Legend.
It's not everyday we get to go down 7 miles deep into the ocean. Who wants to buy this watch lol
Hi James, if you get to read this, can you please search for my father's ship the MS Rangitane (owned by the Zealand shipping company)...it was attacked and sunk by two German raiders, (Komet & Orion) on 27 November 1940, 300 miles east of New Zealand. He and the crew were rescued but then spent the duration of the war as POWs.
My father was bitterly disappointed he wasn't given the time to retrieve his prized possession from his cabin...A Rolex watch!
A location search and retrieval of said watch would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Wow..Ang sarap..nang letchon!!! Watching from western Australia..
Entré aquí porque creí que el de la portada era Mariano Rajoy
That's the guy from Just for Laughs!
am glad that james cameron can make some money it is nice
Can you hear the song?
অসাধারন একটি নাটক।শেষাংশে মন ভারাক্রান্ত হয়ে গেলো।

Thats my kind of menkind i will in proof my power
Como aprender a manejar
Спасибо ☺️
Next week is my dad birthday and I don't have so much money to get him a rolex so can I ask for him a present?
James Cameron will no doubt be known as a pioneer of exploration engraved in history 🐋
ST University’s globe
ディープシー最高です!
Being mechanical engineer I owned the rolex deep sea and I love this watch besides rolex milgauss
Respect.
I understand the workmanship and beauty of high end watches. But since it's designed to be worn on the human wrist, surviving such intense pressure is pointless. As far as usability goes a $9.96 usd Casio worn on his wrist would also have worked through the entire dive and the Casio has multiple timers. Just saying.
Nice video 👍
THE ROLEX ARE BEAUTIFULLS, CONGRATULATION
What an amazing journey.

Please, Rolex combine your automatic movement w/ battery technologies for Regenerative power resource
I watched this whole thing
I got to see the two watches that were on the outside of the submersibles at the Cameron display in Sydney in 2019
Wow
My first encounter with a Rolex watch was 50 years ago, and it was on my dad’s wrist. My father explained to me why this watch was so special. Fifty years later I was able to purchase my first Rolex Oystersteel and yellow gold Sea-Dweller. I’m very proud to have this watch on my wrist, and I wear it every day. I was so impressed with it I ordered the Rolex Deepsea from the same authorized dealer. Only to find out that my chances of getting it are very slim because of shortages. I hope one day it will also be on my wrist.
I’d like to be able to go in the shop and buy one. And it’s not because I don’t have the Nelson’s
I would have dived into the deeps if I were rich too
This didn’t age well😂
New DSSD coming in a few days! You’ve heard it here first bois.
That's so awesome! My goal is to build a submarine one day and visit the Challenger deep as well!
Iasked james cameron for a blue dial james cameron 126660 watch and he ignored me.
On
The first watch I tried on in St. Thomas U.S.V.I. was a Rolex stainless dark face diving watch. I of course went for visual appeal and I remember even today how it felt. I was smitten. I am sure I must had been a watch maker in another life due to I loved watches, clocks, and dark beer. No one in my family wore a watch. No clocks on the wall. It felt heavy but in a not intrusive way. I am all girl, but at times a tomboy so it could keep up. I couldn't get it of course, but I said to myself.. I will..one day. Don't get me started on Super Cars & Sunglasses oh my.
That is such an inspirational story. You are living my dream. Curiosity is a beautiful thing. Thank you. Blessings & safe travels. 🔎🐳🐬🐟🔍
i misclicked an dodnt care but good video i guess?
My first Rolex was a oyster date then came my air king back in the 90s since then I've many more and other fine makers. ALS, IWC, Zenith, FPJ, etc. I do love my watches
Buen reloj Cameron...
I'm so glad the video focuses on the James Cameron watch- the black dial- and not the graduated dial which isn't.
Rolex should partner up with a Mars Space X excursion.
Group Genius!!! Yes!! Let's ALL WORK TOGETHER!!!!! underline ALL!!
I’m thinking this watch will be discontinued end of the month?!
Substantial resourses is non exist
Magnífico reto y gran reloj, como el reto que me planteo hacer de adquirir uno en tienda como intenté con mi submariner.
Did a film camera person make one of the most expensive watches
💕
This Avatar 2 trailer is amazing 🥺🔥
Ahh yes! Proud owner of many of the worlds finest crafted Rolex counterfeits, heheh
What good timing! I just picked up my Sea-Dweller (granted the SD43 rather than this DSSD JC) last week from an AD and was researching for videos today. This came up and I assumed it was an old video but pleasantly surprised it was released only today!
"WE" "DECADE" "TOGETHER" is my take away and reminder for Rolex as a Rolex Lover and Supporter
Professionals talents at work 🌈😌
Some people don't know how much work had to be done so that the sea dweller would work in those depths. I had recently found a new love in watch by seeing Nico Leonard's video. Love that guy he's a huge fan of rolex and most importantly watch enthusiast a real one. Thanks my guy even though i absolutely cannot afford it anytime soon. I would love to own one some day. Thanks nico for showing that watches are not just a time piece but much more that that. And love a watch with a story behind it
#INNEREARTH IS REAL 👽
This whole story is extremely satisfying to watch. Feel proud watching it.
It’s so refreshing to see a video from the actual creators of a deep sea dive watch, and not a blatant copy with a slight change of name. Rolex will always remain timeless!
❤❤❤❤
With a dying thirst
To be the first
Could it be?
well submersible has a Rolex too
Very good vdo 👍💕
wow amazing insight to a brilliant fantastic challenge, would love to work with Rolex one day.
Stunning adventure and a stunning piece.
Didn’t Omega just smash this record ?
I wouldn't say "smash", they beat it by several meters.
I bought one when it's first released as a token of support on the continuous exploration as well as Rolex & James' spirit of challenging the limit!👍👍👏👏👏
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Or you could just buy a g shock
Rolex has withstand the challenge of time as a favorite wrist watch.
What a life this man has had 👏
Wow this guy can do pretty much ANYTHING he wants to do... and he's doing THIS!! Safe travels James!!

So… it didn’t really fight any pressure at all.
