Belphegor - Totentanz Drum Playthrough by David Diepold

- Hello everyone!
I finally had some time to put this playthrough of 'Totentanz' together.
Thanks to Belphegor for giving me the opportunity to track drums for their new album 'The Devils'!
The recording took place in February 2020 at Fascination Street Studio in Sweden, a few weeks before the world got shot down. Needless to say, that this was an awesome experience, so thanks to everyone involved and making this recording session very smooth and enjoyable!
Also thanks to Mathias Garmusch for mixing this playthrough!
Thanks to you, the (extreme) drumming community and everyone else, who's into this style of music or got here by accident. Even though I'm not very active on social media/youtube I read through some of the comments from time to time and I really appreciate your kind words!

Unfortunately, on the album they invite David - they try to lean mostly into slow stuff, which they can't do justice anyway

in metal, same. i stand by diepold all the way. like theres no one more clean, consistent, and mastered technique like him. like who else does that foot technique ? or push pull for blasts? or can double stroke just as clean? or all combined? no one man david is a superior breed on his own

tbh, I don't really like a drummer who headbanging too muchon stage, especially those who tried to headbang but missed so much beat🥴

3:23 is so sick. It's a little thing, but most drummers would just use their right hand to do those cymbal hits. Everyone is so good nowadays, but for my money David's at the top.

Push/pull
It looks like a combination of a few techniques, his left is no doubt push-pull, his right looks like all fingers.
According to David, learn on the weak hand first. His video is David Diebold push pull technique. Have fun! I'm still angry at my left hand. Lol.
