Whoever said he should've quit piercing rather than smoking is senseless! Smoking kills, does piercing do the same ?
Not necessarily...even it an artery was to be hit, its not in direct contact with main blood supply channels. Also, you have to take in account how much blood you can loose from a piercing-- if the piercing is small/ big.
Its not like he is piercing his neck, where the carotid artery is at, then I can understand
have you seen the person with the Guinness award with world's most piercings? I don't see him dying. Smoking is ALSO an addiction because of the nicotine and it's pretty much self-explanatory that you would stop a person from cocaine/heroine over piercings. I do understand what you meant by addiction but nicotine is an addiction that is WAYYY worse than piercings.
i think he was just joking... no need to take it serious
CallmeKat! Omg Koreans think it's the same thing. You're voice won't change the opinion of all of us Koreans so please stop it
CallmeKat has the right to express her opinions so she has no need to "stop it"
He looks like a damn constellation with those stickers. 😂
omg ikr hahha i was like "what's with the star wtf?"
Right
They censored his piercings
Krispy Kwangsoo and that mustache 😂
ikr lmao
"You should've stopped piercing instead of smoking. Lol." That simple statement really says a lot about the Korean mentality where appearance ranks higher than health or anything outside of the Korean societal norm.
Livvy Liv yes because his mom is worried about him and he looks different than everyone else in Korea
why is looking different a bad thing? its disgusting how shallow these people are just let the guy live ffs
Livvy Liv
it was a joke.
kim seokjins food
--- nice username,, lol
dawnosaurr yeah i agree it was a joke. Also, the mother here is desperate
I completely understand the guy with the piercings. He doesn't want them because they will give him attention, he wants them because he likes them. When he doesn't want them anymore, he can just take them off. I don't think anyone should be discriminated about what they like, unless it's something illegal.
I feel sorry that people are still so negative about people wanting to express there individuality. I think he looks great and I'm glad that he is brave enough to be an individual rather than wanting to fit into society's view of a 'normal' person.
Right? The MCs and guests took me aback when they told him to remove the piercings if he doesn't want others to stare at him as it makes him feel uncomfortable. I feel like they're telling him to obey the social norms where most people don't have that many visible body piercings. I don't like how they are trying to stop him from doing what he likes because society thinks it's weird, what's weirder are the stares he gets from people on the streets. Having tattoos and piercings don't make you an evil person and looking clean and 'decent' don't make you an angel too. I hope one day society gets that..
+Z That high IQ isn't working in your favour clearly. What about piercings is illegal, inappropriate or hurtful towards other people?
The only people who would give attention to someone with piercings is people who are narrow minded and negative when it comes to people who want to be themselves.
You clearly don't understand what it means for people to be able the express themselves and be comfortable doing it.
+Z drugs can do harm to your body (and people around you depending on the drugs) and his piercings won't
+nomoredickpics You get it! This guy is just being idiotic
you keep comparing this to heroine and cocaine. Are you serious? lol those things are illegal while peircings are not. You know why? Because those things kill people, but peircings don't. And he said clearly that hygine comes first to him when it comes to peircings so don't fucking say irritation would kill him lol. Go back to your jungle please!
I'm not a fan of that many piercings or tattoos, but that's his life, so whatever. My concern is that he does the piercings himself. Even if he practices good hygiene and all the safety measures, it's really much better if he has his piercings done in shops that specialize in them. I also really wonder how he'll find a job with those piercings on him. Employers always look for clean cut people, wherever you are in the world.
Tattoo shops
cmq23 theres not many piercers in korea who can do those for him
depends on the job, artistic jobs as well tend to be more open to different personal styles:P
well its hard to get pierced in korea in general especially in places like that and he can always take them out and put on a lil concealer lol
i guess you can, all of my teachers have tattoos or "alternative things", and a job
They covered everything i wanted to see how he looks without these stickers
omo same
piercings and tattoos aren’t allowed in Korean TV
fuckbasket. Thanks for explaining!
I thought the stars was the piercing-
@@zekynn7549 lol😂😂😂
this reason is just ridiculous. I just don't like see people judging the way people want to express themselves. IT's not like he's doing something bad though
+Z You're comparing someone getting piercings and someone exposing their private parts? What a joke. Even with a culture difference people can see it as a dumb concern. Tattoos go against Korean culture and yet people are still going out and getting them. Times change, a piercing isn't going to kill anyone.
+Ty Monae ♡ finally someone explain me for the comment above lol. I read and didn't understand what he/she meant lol
+xians girl I had to read it like three times to understand lol they dont make sense. They keep commenting on everyones comments complaining about people are okay with piercings.
haha I do see. lol like he/she is so desperate to prove he/she is right lol. And comparing piercing to heroine and cocain also. This can't be anymore ridiculous lol
I agree that the reason can look ridiculous. But for Koreans, how I look toward others is a lot more important than how I wish to look... Not all Koreans do. But many I know do care. There are a lot of Koreans I know who can not go outside just wearing comfortably. They need to look fashionable. If not, they call those people, "fashion terrorists".
9:29.. really for korean people piercings are worse than smoking.. :/ cultural shock
lol
I´m just expressing what I thought... comment section anyway.. please don´t be so sensitive..
superficial people?
Anny, 애니 , アニー foreal tho...tattoos are illegal there too. Like you wont see any tattoo shops in that country
love creativity illegal?lol..If it's illegal then don't they willl be prisoned?
Blurring the piercings is so stupid. It's not like we don't know they're there. Do they have to be SO offensive you can't even show them on TV?
do you really think children nowadays dont know what a piercings looks like?
here you are~ the stupid hooooman
It's the same reason public broadcast won't show tattoos, the negative stigma it has in korean society, so they make people cover them up or blur them.
Then what if the chidren watching these uncensored scenes think he looks cool? What if they begin to develop that addiction and obsession like he did when he saw the man at the bus station when he was 5?
if I'm not wrong I think there is a certain law or something like that that tv broadcasting station cannot show any tattoos, piercing, and sharp objects(such as cooking knife "exemption only if it is used for intended purposes like cooking knife used while chopping onions and ingredients")
apart from that they censored it... I think they even censor the cigarettes if there is any smoking scene... also they censored well known brands as well unless the product placement is done through a contract or something....
I couldn't finish watching this.. it made me so mad! I wanted to see how "bad" it was but they censored it (of course) which made me even angrier.
How can plastic surgery be considered a norm while piercings and tattoos are not? They both show and they're both body modifications.
I know the younger generation are more accepting towards tattoos so I guess it's just a matter of time until it becomes accepted.. at least I hope so :)
Lifunia oh god me too 😂 I wanted to see the piercings so bad so yeah I'm so frustrated too 😂
Actually, South Korea is somewhat conservative about tattoos and piercing. Mind you Korea is different from many Western countries and is still pretty homogenous (foreigners only making up about 3.4% of the population). Tattoos in Korea, as well as piercings, isn't huge and a lot of its popularity is underground. So I can understand why you are upset. Plastic surgery is publicized by many public figures and is one of the pressures of society. You may not know but as a gift, my classmate's parents paid for her double eyelid surgery after graduating from high school.
One or two SP are good, but in HC was a case of a girl wt PS obsession too.
I don't get why being obsessed with applying makeup is acceptable but being obsessed with piercings is not. It will not be that obvious if he removes those piercings and conceal those areas he pierced with makeup.
wearing makeup it putting it on top of ur skin. Piercings are literally sharp thing going in and through ur skin and muscle
The guy in the black T shirt with his ear pierced looks so attractive..😳
And his voice is very deep.
ikr💖
Where
Yeah, he fine as hell
I WISH I COULD TAKE A SIP OF TAE EVERYDAY!! 13:28
i think guys with piercings and tattoos are hot as fuck
omg so true.
yeah but to much is freaking not hot at all 😧😏
true
+Im army Taehyung true
its haram warya!! don't promote cayalsuuuqnimo
I find it interesting, some of South Korea's views on plastic surgery and piercings. They can tolerate a human getting a knife to their millimeter thick eyelid, but putting a piercing in their gums just sounds too barbaric? They shave off their jaws, but getting a piercing on their nose just sounds too gruesome?
Understandably, South Korea's society is more conservative, but that doesn't mean someone should be ridiculed for how they look. If you want to be conservative, go for it, but don't force it upon other people. His piercings are doing no harm to other people, same with plastic surgery.
People get plastic surgery, tattoos, and piercings for the same reason, they wish to express themselves and be comfortable. But I must say for all 3 of these acts, take care of yourself, be willing to do research on who will be modifying your body, and do what you can to avoid an infection, including watching over the hygiene practice of your doctor.
Has nothing to do with Korea wth. I don't get comments like this and they make me angry. I will write this again: In Europe you would have a problem finding a job with these piercings. My biology teacher even asked a student if he was thinking of suicide because of his tattoos and piercings. And I'm sure that 70% in other countries would also think that too many piercings are ugly and stupid as hell. I love piercings btw and I know what people around me say about them. So please stop acting like Korea is the only country in the world who thinks like that.
Blabla Blubb This is a Korean talkshow with Korean hosts, a Korean studio audience, with Koreans talking about their problems, in which they just so happen to be living in Korea, yes... if you haven't guessed it, this topic is currently about Korea. I am not acting as though Korea is the only country that does this, I am simply staying on topic. In other countries, they don't censor your damn face because it has some metal in it.
This isn't about getting a job, he never said he has problems with getting a job during this clip. If required, he can take them out during work if he wants, but this is about his life in general. He's not allowed to show his face on TV and people make snap judgement about him. However, he doesn't care what people think and the fact that his mom sent in this complaint after years of him telling her that he *will* get piercings and her saying, "Do what you want", unless he starts getting infections/harming other people, he's fine.
Yes, this is a world-wide phenomenon, but my comment also highlighted Korea's unique and ever-popular plastic surgery industry and how it's accepted for people to go under dangerous and "gruesome" procedures to look and feel more comfortable, but it's not ok for people to feel comfortable by getting tattoos/piercings. It's quite odd and hypocritical for some them to think that way.
Yes, it's unfortunate that this happens every where around the world, the fact that people feel as though they have the authority to judge what people do to their own bodies and treat them poorly because of it.
once the plastic surgery heals, you do not see it but you continue to see the piercings and tattoos and korea is very conservative enough to keep someone from gaining a professional job from having too many piercings and tattoos.
Ja Seo Granted, there are a portion of plastic surgery results that make people just look like an alien o.o So sometimes you *do* see it and a botched surgery can certainly mess someone up, sometimes to a permanent extent. Do those people deserve to not be employed because of their appearance?
+Oh Hol But you are talking about how conservative Korea is and how they still judge him for his piercings. And what I'm tryig to say is that it has nothing to do with being a conservative culture since people with too many piercings will be judged in every country. Even in super modern countries like Europe. Here you will a have a super hard time to find a job as a teacher or doctor or in any company, bank etc.
they're imposing their own views on body art and expression on him and i find that so oppressive. why can't he do things that he likes without being severely criticised for it? he's an adult and he too thinks before he acts so he already knew what the future holds when he pierced his first piercing. but the korean society criticising and calling him "crazy" is so uncalled for and it makes me uncomfortable to know he cannot walk around without people talking bad about him. and to think his parents can't even respect his decisions. imagine how he feels
+Z she never used the word all, pls stop taking speaking out of your ass
Do you live in a cage or something? Go to any other country and most people would react like the parents of this guy. Especially the older generation. In Europe you would have a problem to find a job with these piercings.
I agree with the older generation thing....my grandfather kicked my uncle out the house when he was a teenager because he wouldn't get a haircut, he dyed his hair and he got his ear pierced...LOL.I've seen old pictures...he was lookin like the visual in a kpop group and my grandpa was not having that..
+Blabla Blubb Maybe he wouldn't get a job at a bank or so but for most other jobs it doesn't really matter
+silvervixen007 not only at a bank though. You wouldnt get a job as a teacher or doctor here in Germany. Also not in any company. Here we put a picture on our CV and the chances to get a job interview with these piercings is like 5 %.
first of all I love this man😂😂secondly does KBS really have to sensor stuff that isn't a problem😂
tattoos and piercings arent allowed on korean tv, it's a censorship standard and koreans don't like showing things that are symbols of delinquent behavior 😕
There goes good ole' judgmental South Korea again; trying to stifle a person's individuality.
tbh it's just the older generation give it like 30 years the younger generation will have come to accept pretty much everything.
+Cola kun Not really tbh. Did you see the audience's reaction? Even those in their mid 20s had pretty exaggerated reactions towards his piercings when his photos were shown.
yup I loved how the host tried to make him understand that more people hate his percings so he will feel pressure to conform and he says that doesn't control my life.
can you stop generalizing us koreans? its like your saying ALL koreans are like that. So stop saying it like you mean all koreans. It offends me you asswipe.
It's just a k pop fan judging their own favoring singer's culture.
Saying that he should have quit getting piercings instead of smoking was a dumb comment lol
Expressing art and individuality with piercings vs. voluntarily harming your body by getting yourself addicted to toxins?
Which one sounds like the better idea? lol
Backwards ass thinking ahh seems like many people smoke or have smoked in Korea. In my part of the U.S., smoking is not common at all Andis looked down upon :'v
Lmao he'd be going like that in my country, people don't give a fvck. But if it's in Korea, they'd be like "omooo! That must hurt so bad! Why did u even do that to your self!!?" If it's what make him confident, then why not. I think his mom should be more understanding about this...
Gwen Nakagawa I totally agree with you
Yes
I know, it sucks...But in Korea, in the past especially, people believed that they should not harm their body anyhow, and they didn’t even cut their hair at all, never in their life. The society has changed and is changing a lot but the belief is still impacting people’s view on getting tattoos or piercings.
Gwen Nakagawa if I was a mom I would be quite shocked. Sure it makes him more confident but there are more things in the world that can make him more confident that won't harm on leave a permanent mark on him physically. Its something that obviously won't be easy to get used to quickly as a mom. Whenever a child seems to hurt themselves even a little its a massive hazard to the mom.
Gwen Nakagawa same
Watching this now, I'm so proud of Jungkook of BTS. He expressed himself through tattoos and piercings and didn't let those judgmental and closed minded people take away his freedom. Despite being a world star and an icon to many, he remains true to himself and a perfect example of love yourself.
"you should've quit piercing instead of smoking" worst possible advice ever. I know korea is conservative but that's just stupid
I seriously hate the media for judging them and forcing them to cover all these like wtf man for real
if I'm not wrong I think there is a certain law or something like that that tv broadcasting station cannot show any tattoos, piercing, and sharp objects(such as cooking knife "exemption only if it is used for intended purposes like cooking knife used while chopping onions and ingredients")
apart from that they censored it... I think they even censor the cigarettes if there is any smoking scene... also they censored well known brands as well unless the product placement is done through a contract or something....
Their censorship is more extreme than that of India...
That's stupid, to say that he should have quit piercing instead of smoking. Piercing doesn't have a high chance of killing you, smoking does.
How are piercings worse than smoking?
well Koreans care more about appearance 😐
Kim Tae Hyung how do you like V but nit care about his own cultures opinions
You can like someone and not agree with them on certain points, I love my mum, she is christian and im atheist. The question that was posed was 'How are piercings worse than smoking?' Thats a valid questioning of someone elses views. No views are shared by a whole culture anyway, V himself might love piercings or not, your comment is just rude without the need to be.
Kim seokjins Food You’re really ridiculous you know that? So you would rather him smoke and shorten his life? But getting not even that many piercings is ok? And how would V feel that you are technically opposing piercings when V and the rest of BTS have piercings all over their ears?
Smoking won’t affect his chances In getting a job in Korea but piercings will. You may hate it but that’s the reality.
Really likin' these specific clips of the shows KBS is putting out now...it's easier to watch what you're interested in instead of going through the whole episode
I'd date him and i rule that he doesn't have enough lmao
please tell im not the only one who finds guys with piercings and tattoos hot oOOHHH I LOVE GUYS WHO HAVE TATTOOS ON THEIR CHEST like beast's junhyung
this just give me one more reason to love jay park. he'll walk up to the camera and go "hey ! are you gonna blur me out now ??" and he'll wave his arm filled with a sleeve of tattoos around so fast that he thinks that the blur on the screen, censoring his tattoos will go away. i have total respect for this guy
putting a dislike because its not something to worry about. he should be able to do and express himself the way he wants.
if you dislike you are showing KBS you disliked the video, not how you wish to vote on the concern
that's one of the most retarded reasons to dislike a video. get out lmao
if anyone ever finds his instagram just let me know
turnt same
yassssss
i want to know too
same tho
sameeee
still searching 😭😂
not all heroes wear capes. he's one of them. trying to express himself in a country like Korea, where many people judge others just by what they look like and what they're wearing.. that's courage and confidence. i hope he doesn't let them bring him down, and most importantly.. i hope he realllly looks after the hygiene. that's crazy important
I used to watch this show all the time but it's episodes like these that make me go ehhhhhh but I guess it's somewhat society's fault
And they're overreacting WAY too much...what harm are a few piercings gonna do? It's his body, and if he feels confident, let him do what he wants. Why should he have to lose his identity just to conform to society
I think he is doing it just to get attention, cus it's just ridiculous, like the tattoo he has, just silly things. I love piercing I have 8 piercings and I want to get tattoos...
I'll save everyone some time, they never take off the stickers so you don't get to actually see anything ._.
Thanks, I won't waste my time. :C
Would have loved to see them tbh.
"you should have stopped doing piercings instead of smoking" WHAT??? smoking ACTUALLY does horrible things to your body and health and to people around you but piercings DONT, its a way of people expressing themselves. how can piercings be worse than smoking??? just wow
I thought he stuck stickers on his face to make look hilarious
you are freaking hilarious lol
i have both piercings and tattoos but i freaked out when he said he did them himself!! a professional piercer knows where nerves are and have been trained for this...him doing it himself is dangerous and he might hit a nerve!! i am all for individuality but please be safe doing it!!!!
Looking at how so against piercings Koreans are, I really admire B.A.P concept with their facial piercings. Really promoting individuality.
This guy looks awful though like a clown!
Why did they blur out his piercings? and why is that such a big deal he looks pretty good as far as I can tell
It's probably a reason similar to why they hide or blur out tattoos on TV. And this is KBS (a government owned network). It's a censorship standard. They don't like showing things that are symbolic of delinquent behaviour.
lol, one of the kindest guys they've showed on this freakin program and he gets censored for his tattoos and piercings. If anything, they should be praising him for still going to school and working hard and stuff. Most of the other guys they bring on here are garbage.
syd seecharan Koreans are more conservative than.....Americans.
It's understandable that more conservative Koreans would look down on piercings due to the historical associations with piercings/tattoos. However, moving forward, I think what Koreans, and East Asians need to realize in general, is that the cultural context of tattoos and piercings, and what they mean to the younger generation now is not so much in reference to gang cultures, and the principals that those gang cultures may perpetuate, but rather an artistic mode of self-expression.
I also think that it's simply absurd that although, piercings and tattoos (essentially adding metal and paint to your body) are seen as a taboo/unacceptable form of body manipulation, while plastic surgery - equally as manipulative on the body, with the (as someone suggested in the comments above) hammering of noses, shaving of jaws, cutting of bones, and skin and cartilage, etc.- is a more acceptable form.
Also interesting to note that while tattoos are meant for the individual to stand-out, plastic surgery is meant to allow the individual to conform. So are you the conformist or the individualist?
All in all, I would like to see Korea, and Asian in general embrace more individualized beauty, regardless of whether or not the person has tattoos or piercings. Coming from an Asian person, Asia needs to focus more on embracing our differences and unique traits, rather than always fixating on one standard of beauty all the time; because it's exhausting, tedious, and frankly, just absurdly boring.
"You should've quit piercings instead of smoking." So it'd be better for him to get lung cancer other than expressing himself and being confident?
Logic
It was a joke that wasn't meant to be taken Seriously.
Don't worry about it.
You people should think more about Korea's culture. Although I don't completely agree with all of it (tattoos and piercings for example), it's just how their society works. It's not like the whole world is going to be the same.
Exactly. I wish people would stop degrading their society values because of their opinions. Please be more open minded! Vietnamese culture is similar to Korean culture, and I can understand why his mom is really concerned so don't make her seem like the bad guy! On the bright side, I really thought that the stars was actual piercings on his face and not coverups 😂 was it only me?
Michelle Truong omg thank you. 사랑헤요
Michelle Truong It’s fine they are conservative and care about their looks, but they shouldn’t go out of their way to force it down someone’s elses throat!
Oh :( i wanted to see them
I'm also someone that has facial piercings, and I completely agree that it's the same feeling as not wearing makeup if I don't have them. People judge you straight away when you have facial piercings, sometimes it's bad, but sometimes people get intimidated so they leave you alone. They kinda feel like a safety barrier. Also, some people (myself included) find them really addicting. Because of the adrenaline from the pain and making a drastic change to your appearance, it's like changing your hair after a breakup.
i'm just glad he still has the confidence to get more piercings for himself. express yourself brotha, don't let anyone tell you it's too much or smth, do what you want with your body
Honestly i want his piercings lol
He inspired me to get piercings and tattoos when I first watched this now I have 10 piercings and 1 tattoo still aiming for more though!
one thing I hate about korean shows is the amount of censorship
what i dont like is that they expect everyone to meet certain "standard" but its important to consider that everyone has their own way of expressing themselves whether that is through getting surgeries, tattoos or piercings
Have they never heard of the phrase "live and let live"?
Let others live their lives, who they are or how they choose to live does not concern you. And unless they are causing physical harm to themselves or others, you should leave them alone.
Ellen well in a conservative country like Korea that phrase does not exist
What's so wrong about piercings? It's his life, let him do what he wants 😡😒
Piercings in "general" aren't frowned upon, like just regular ol ear piercings. In fact, many female celebrities and Korean people in general have a bunch of piercings all over their ear. But his mom is concerned and came on to the show because of the types of piercings he's getting. She thinks his nose ring makes him look like a cow and it looks stupid (which is an acceptable opinion). He also got a piercing on his lip/chin area and sometimes, when he's eating, food gets stuck in it and he shows it to his mom and she finds it gross (which is totally reasonable and I'd be grossed out too). He also got a piercing on his GUMS, which I can't even imagine how that works. These types of piercings are not "just piercings". It's pretty gruesome. It hurts to look at it or even think about it. That's especially true for me since I can't even get needle shots at the hospital.
I just find it hypocritical of people to be bashing "Koreans" and "Korean society". As if people in all other places in the world don't think the same? Just google devil horn piercings. If someone like in those pictures walked past you, would you not have one negative thought about him/her? Or if someone like that applied for a job at your company? I don't care what they do to their body, but people can have an opinion about the act itself, no? Like how people think it's stupid teenagers pull their jeans wayy down below their butt? Ever thought that looks ridiculous? I just find it funny that you guys are condemning Koreans because they don't have the exact same standards as you. Isn't that just as narrow minded as not accepting that guy's piercings?
Koreans can be accepting of individuality. At times, if they do something out of the ordinary, they're applauded for the courage. However, piercings like these are no eye candy. No one's taking away his rights and forcing him to take them out.
However, the point of the show is that his mom came on the show because she has a concern. Many people seem to agree that her concern is legit and they're trying to persuade him to not have so many. That's literally the whole point of this show. It's not like people on the street are going up to him and telling him to live like everyone else.
Jee B Korean celebrities don't have piercings in the upper part of the ear, it's likw an earring to them more than a piercing. Maybe the fact that her mother is grossed out because he showed her food stuck around his piercing is kinda gross, but I doubt he does it on a daily basis or to anyone whom he goes to eat with. And for the one in his nose, and gums that's his personal taste. There are people who like them and people who don't, just because you get disgusted over this silly thing doesn't mean her mother has the right to want his piercings removed. A person in the set told him to quit getting piercings instead of quitting smoking, that's so messed up. Koreans ARE narrow minded and hypocrites, they are perfectly okay with hammering their faces to look "prettier" but go against piercings. It might not be eye candy to you, but it is to other people and mostly important it is to this guy and it's not really any of your or Koreans' business if he wants them.
I'm sorry, but can you not speak as if you understand their culture? All people can be narrow minded, but here in Asia, it is a legit concern. I don't expect you to understand either, seeing as you are a foreigner, so I really won't bother explaining in huge detail, but its more to do with the strong association of criminals, or bad people or things with tattoos and piercings. Remember Korea is a traditionalist, conservative society.
I myself don't see anything wrong with a few of them, but that many piercings I disagree with. (Why the cheek? What if you have an infection there and have to take it out? How will you eat or drink?, I'll admit, I was shocked and worried at the neck and the finger piercings.
Plus his comments made him sound like a machoism to me, and like that he enjoyed that pain because it helped him destress. That doesn't sound like a healthy mentality to me, almost like cutting, but stabbing holes in his face, and body instead.) The comment about smoking was because its a more common problem that people have and as such with more professionals easier to treat than 'de-stressing' through punching holes in your body. (Not to mention, he's making a joke and a funny one too -lighten up.)
There is a limit as to how far you should go. I'm sure you have seen videos of people who have holes in their face, body, so much so that they can't eat, or they can stick at least 3 fingers through their cheek... Surely you can admit that that person took things too far? Now imagine they did it for de-stressing. Theres a limit as to how much 'body' you have left to puncture.
At least don't generalise all Koreans as narrow minded hypocrites. Your inability to embrace the original person's accurate description speaks measures of your own.
Thank the lord someone else understands.
It doesn't FUCKING matter how you feel about someone else it's their Fucking body , their fucking life. It's no ones business what they do to their body. I understand his mother's concern and shit but I mean man what can you do, you just have to accept and move on. Whenever he wants to remove it he will remove. And for the people who bash Koreans I don't why you guys think it only happens in Korea wherever you go people will always have thoughts whether it's good or bad not just Koreans. I understand Koreans are narrow minded and tend to have biased thoughts but it's not just them. Then again what can you do. There's people who believe appearance is everything (Koreans so happen to believe this) but then again it's what that person wants to do with their body just mind your business
There's a difference between having an opinion about something and shaming or being rude and treating others differently just because you don't like how they look or what they do to their body. Having an opinion doesn't = being rude. If I personally don't like someone's look/style I don't tell them that they're ugly or that they're stupid. I keep those opinions to myself because I have no right to shame them or tell them that they're wrong for doing something to their own body. Especially if it doesn't harm others.
I admire this young man for expressing himself the way he wants. He shouldn't be judged just because his looks don't fit into South Korea's beauty standards. He isn't and shouldn't be living his life for other people but himself.
All of you commenters should know that Asians don't get many piercings especially like this guys, I sure that Asians are horrified when they see people with in western countries with even more piercings and have tattoos, for example I don't think that there are many Asians with hoop piercings in the ear lobes.
finally someone who understand!! I like some piercings but it's rare to see someone who have too much and it's scary for me personally. I don't mind ear piercings but in other place is just no no. I want to said that I won't judge them, but I will be scared at first, it's my personal reaction.., It's the same with tattoos, too much is scary..
I'm with u.
I have tattoos and I'm not allowed to go into hotel pools
ikr...you stated my thoughts
I'm Asian and I'm fine with people with lots of piercing (?) I don't get horrified and there's many ppl like me who are Asians and are fine with it . I get it that many asian ppl have stigma against tattooing and piercing but please do not generalise ALL of us and say we get " horrified"
I love how they just censored the piercings 😂
He and his friend with the black earring are damn hot tho, they should be models or sth 😍
I think that he's really cool but not exactly because of the piercings, but because he has the confidence to express himself even if a lot of people disagree with him. That's courage and that's the coolest thing.
okay korea being a conservative society, i can seriously understand how the mom would worry about him so much but has no one actually thought about why the mom is so concerned? she's just concerned that the kid was looked at differently, and was stereotyped as a bad kid, but if the mom knows that the child is not hurting anyone with his piercings, the mom should be proud of him for breaking such a stereotype, for bringing so much individuality into the korean society. also seeing how the guests reacted in this episode really infuriated me, i thought them being stars of the show would have more sense, but they're just illiciting a typical response.
really, tattoos and piercings are literally nothing but accessories that people want to wear. sigh.
what’s his instagram?
Wow smoking is better than piercing just wow so messed up
In India its normal to get ears and nose pierced and tattoo are also in the tradition.. it does not matter too much... unlike other asian countries..
weird
you said it yourself, its your country tradition... dude, why did you bother saying others asian country weird just bcs we are different from yours?
김준규 I am saying its weird not cause i want to diss any other country, its just that its ironical, as what is defination of wrong universally is not clear, yet everyone has to follow.
Sanaa Abed ironic? its called social convention, unwritten law and every country have their own, and we have options whether to follow it or not, and here i'm okay with it and follow it, and i don't mind your tradition even it's the opposite of mine, let's just respect each other :)
but she wasn't dissing Korea, she was simply saying what was the norm for India.
and also, just because something is of social construct, does not mean that it is set in stone. It can be easily manipulated, and changed. And if the younger generation wants "tattoos and piercings to be a more acceptable form of beauty" to be a social convention, then what would you say to that?
UM ITS NOT THAT SERIOUS THOSE PIERCINGS ARE FINE IMO
If all koreans are like this they are gunna hate me so much cant wait to go :')
NattyVonBatts same lmao
U cant also hate in indonesia so many people shock look ur face maybe, all asia like that is shock culture
Somehow I understand the mother. In my country person with too many piercings won't be seen positively and isn't it difficult to get a job with those piercings?
Exactly. I understand where these commentators are coming from since they come from most likely a western country, but even in western countries, if you show up to a job interview like that it isn't considered professional and getting a job is harder than for people without piercings (one in the ear is pretty normal but not so much with multiple on the face). Thus you can imagine in Korea where it's crazy conservative just how difficult it is. And it's because there are still many conservatives in Korea that his mom doesn't want him to have any since, like one of their relatives said, at family gatherings they all judge him and his mom hates it.
He can always just take em out and wear em when he wants. It's also possible that his employer doesn't care 💁
dianisarosari
This guy is awesome! He's doing what he wants and he doesn't care what people think. That's very brave for someone living in a highly conservative country. I applaud him :)
I'm well aware that Koreans have a very conservative view on tattoos and piercings but seriously, do you really have to censor them out?! I mean, earrings are also a type of piercing so why is it okay to show ear piercings on Korean tv but not other kinds of piercings? It's the same damn thing! Sure, I personally wouldn't want that many piercings on my face but that's his choice and I just wish people could respect that. Just like they said, tattoos are very hard to remove but a piercing can be taken out any time and will barely leave a mark if you let it close up, so even if he regrets having so many piercings later on he can just take them out and they'll be gone, as simple as that.
What's the problem with piercings and tattoos?! They're completely fine. To me it's like art and expressing yourself. Can't they let anyone be themselves? 👍🏻
Eloise Walker those things are both bad to your body. you can't even donate your blood anymore if you have a tattoo
Actually you can donate blood..
this whole concern was just a mess.Someone open these peoples eyes to the world.
When he said Joseon era I immediately thought of The Legend of the Blue Sea lmao 😂
I think living in Korea is not for me since majority are close minded>< no offense really!
It's his body and he can do what he pleases to it. He's probably a really nice guy and doesn't deserve such negativity. It will make him stronger in the end. :)
I don't mean to sound disrespectful but omg did this topic annoy me. Wow, he has piercings, so what? It may not be part of their culture or it's not something that's accepted in their society. But I find it so shocking that they are so shocked by it. We live in the 21st century, people express themselves however they want to. People can't continue to fit into societies ideal type of person, people are individuals and have their own opinions.
Hello Counselor is always so interesting
Deandra ikr thats why i can't stop watching it
Not saying that it's right, but excessive piercings aren't that popular in many cultures. Definitely not as bad a as Korea a lot of the time, but the fact is, regardless of where you are, If had tons of piercings and tattoos, there inevitably will be people who stare and judge
I think it's good that they make him confident, and that he does it for himself rather than society
"You should've quit piercing instead of smoking."
I have no words. 😓
This is so disrespectful. And the fact that Korean people have to cover up their art is so ridiculous
This guy can open up his own shop. I like that he is doing this for himself, and not for other people. Seriously~ Good for this guy
I think they should mind their own business and the part when they said he should've given up piercing instead of smoking(which could probably kill him)made me really angry
I know?!
like smoking - something that has been researched, and widely known to kill you in the long term (?!) vs. piercings - like dangly metal things added to your body, that can easily be removed..........???
Erza Titania I think he said that because his mom worried about him
Can you imagine him being in a fight? He has to take all those piercings off before he starts
What’s his name?
It’s not an issue. Just leave it alone, it’s his way of expressing himself and I find him attractive as fuck very honestly. It’s not only his face and personality, but the fact that he goes for what he likes and thinks is cool. I’m proud of him for that.
I don't understand why they censored the piercings.
normally in hello counsellor they've been pretty open minded and accepting but this time they've really shown their traditional and conservative views that are very different from western society. I think this guy should move to America or Europe, he'd be a lot more accepted there. But he also should ask himself why he wants to Keep getting piercings because it is true that at a certain point tattoos/piercings/plastic surgery becomes an obsession.
Omfg, Korea has to censor piercings? Thats lame, wtf
I think in all asia like that, like in indonesia also
*wears ripped jeans in my 50s*
koreans: oH so OpeN mINdeD
the comments are an example of people from individualistic cultures misunderstanding collectivist cultures like korea
also those piercings look horrid a couple look nice but hes going overboard and doing them himself which is dangerous and causing his mom a lot of worry. Its great to express yourself but still. Also he prob likes the attention idc what he says and if it really bothered him he'd take them out. He has special snowflake syndrome.
Choa South God Queen he can do what he wants ffs, they're not dangerous it's literally just body art not any call for attention.
Korean standard for physical beauty is in another level. They literally value physical appearance than health. Y'all, piercing can't kill but smoking can.
I'm sort of ok about the face piercings but I don't get why people get it on the tongue. They are easiest to get infected, plus they distort your speaking and ruin how you eat.
Looks cool tho and it's probably really good to get head from someone with it lmao
+nomoredickpics Um, ouch. lol
Only at the beginning, once you get used to it, you go back to eating and speaking like you used to. Some even sing with a tongue piercing. All piercings are prone to getting infected if u dont take the proper care. You also have to know when your body is rejecting a piercing.
Nope, at all! I have a tongue piercing and i speak/eat like everyone else in this world...
Personally even the day i got it pierced i could talk and eat whatever i wanted.. but like people are saying, any piercing and even tattoo can/will get infected if you don't take good care of it..
He was so articulate!
most of asian countries are conservative about tatto and piercing, any problem? calling us close minded won't change anything, lets just respect each other, you can get piercing as many as u can, and stop calling we are close minded, just mind your own bussiness
I agree that calling someone "close-minded," can be ridiculous especially if it's simply because their preferred style of beauty includes, for this instance, includes no tattoos and no piercings. Everyone should be entitled to their own subjective idea of beauty.
However, personally, when I speak about my disagreements with Asia and their beauty standards, I specifically mean that I don't agree that Asian people should shame others who don't fit that specific mold of beauty. Tattoos and piercings are simply forms of self-expression, just as make-up and clothes are. Sure they might not be to your specific taste, but if it makes them happy, why not let them do it?
김준규 But you're close minded. It's a fact. It's totally unfair that someone has to be judged because he has piercing or tatto. We are in 2017 it's time to open your mind e let the people live the life they want if doesen't affect YOUR life. Geez, really i can't stand this type of mentality.
Rica read my comment carefully, its just bcs i'm part of sk? Me my self don't mind if someone has tattoo or piercing in fact i have a lot of friends who has tatto and piercing, its just how our "major" society works, do you think this kind of idea can be changed overnight? I live in seoul and believe me no one will say anything if u had piercing or tattoo, this show just exaggerated everything bcs this is how variety show work, don't talk as if u know everything, u look uneducated
김준규 I don't care if i look uneducated 'cause i know that i'm not, and i didn't write anything bad. I said, again, that Asia in general it's close minded, you've said it yourself so...? Don't you think that it's time to change? You said in the beginning "Yes, Asia is close minded any problem?" so i assumed that you're close minded too. And YEAH it's a problem... Thank God not directly for me 'cause i live in Europe (Italy) but i'm just "sad" for the young people who live there.
Rica its not something that can be changed overnight, key then congratulations for being European, don't need too pity us, its problem for you but this not even problem for us, thats why i said mind ur own business. Nothing will change after calling us close minded.
This mother raised a very kind, sweet son who just so happens to have piercings. This man should not be a concern for anyone because he is an adult who can make his own choices and is free to express himself however he likes. There are far worse sons in the world to have.
I knew tattoos are illegal to show but piercings? Really?
This kid would do super well here Stateside! Get on social media. Instant follow.
Why are they making him feel so bad? Oh my god let the guy do what he wants it’s his body n his life. Honestly I love people who are willing to go against the entire world to be themselves and unique. I really loved how this guy, no matter what, stuck to what he believed. He does look very cool I won’t even lie, he’s brave asf for takin all tht humiliating bs from the hosts
He looks good with that fluffy hairstyle
Piercings are sexy and badass. It's too bad they censored them. The dude has the right to do what makes him feel good
Those ajummas at 12:52 got me dying of laughter!!
People need to understand that most Asian countries especially Korea are very conservative and they follow Confucius' teachings which have been engrained into their cultures for centuries, so any differences that they have with the Western norms aren't going to be bridged immediately. I'm not saying that they are right to judge people for how they look as East Asian countries are very well known for having many social intolerances, but I'm just saying that some people need to be more aware of why things are how they are right now before they start judging. And anyway even in America or Europe having excessive piercings is also slightly disapproved of and an obstacle during job interviews so it's not like we have absolute freedom here either
I LOVE HIS PIERCINGS!! 😍.. I honestly find him really attractive😏❤
it's like 3am im supposed to be sleeping but ive been watching this show for hours someone stop me lmao
lets kakao
I was 100% with the son on this, of course because I also have piercings and tattoos and do plan on getting more. There's nothing wrong with them at all, he's a grown man and should be able to live his life how he wants. Also he knows that is family doesn't like them he could wear clear retainers when he's around his family. It's not really a concern or problem.
